How long has your atomizer lasted ?

Also, I forgot to point out... I NEVER clean my atomizers with hot water or soda, or anything. Ever.

The only thing I do, is when it seems to be giving less vapor, is to blow out all the excess juice into a paper towel, use a paperclip in the battery side hole, and push it in there (which sometimes releases a good amount of juice) and blow it out again.

I cannot stress enough at how big a difference your carts make... After a while (and sometimes a very short while) the 901 carts stop working very well. If you start to see the filler material bunching up at the top, and looking like it has a permanent indent in the filler from the metal bridge, it's time to adjust it. I just pull it all out, unfold the square of filler, and press it in a paper towel to absorb all the juice. Once mostly dry, you can wash it with water and dry if you want, I simply use a paperclip to get it back in the cart, folding in a "2 crease" method (like a capitol Z) and refill.

One other performance technique is to care for your battery now and then. Even if you can't see it, your juice is making a thin film barrier between the battery and the atomizer. Every now and again, take a paper towel and rub around the copper contacts on both battery and atomizer. Also, if you notice the "blacking green gunk" building in the threads of the battery, this is corrosion. I use my thumbnail on top of a paper towel and rotate the battery with my thumb nail in the threads. This cleans the threads pretty well, and it's like getting a new battery most of the time. Good contact means good power transfer, which equals more heat, which equals more vapor, which equals a happy 901 user.

Now I'm really surprised. I took my 901 atomizer that had failed after two days, attached it to the battery, then took a long draw on it without the cartridge while covering up the single atomizer hole. It started getting warm & now works again. Oh well, when the third one arrives in a day or two, I'll have three.

get yourself a circuit tester it's easy to know if it's really dead with one of those.:)

Ah, Atomisers.... when they work well they're a joy, otherwise a pita. RN4072 atts are the weakest in my view (though great when new). Next in line on the hit list for me is the 901. Atts go cold without warning and with little use when used on the normal battery but are much better on a passthrough. Then the mini-pipe - a stunning atomiser when working, but they do pack in with frustrating regularity. The two outright stars for me are the Evo and the original Intellicig atomiser (dse-103 type). For me these have lasted for five and six months respectively and are still going strong. An Evo att failed on me the other day - why? I stood on it! Otherwise they just keep going in my experience.

Stop upsetting me with your stories of your evo atomizers lasting you a long time e-pipeman...lmao.

Yeah , a small OHM meter work's wonder's..

Thanks, youse two, I was intending to give that a shot:

"...Otherwise, I think I'll put an ohmmeter across it, and see if there's still continuity; maybe the coil didn't open up.

Just too busy/lazy to get around to it if I wasn't completely atomizer-less yet. My intention now is to order a replacement when I'm down to two working and one confirmed dead.

seem to have killed first 901black atty first day vaping but hoping to revive it tomorro when juice arrives from tw apparently if they ve died thru dryin out too much a good drip ll sort em,second one been going about a week but constantly plays up someties a blow thru will sort it for a day or so but sometimes just a drag an needs doing again....damn those attys spoiling my vapin enjoyment ......one of my pet hates in all aspects of life is poor product design or substandard equiptment so now suffering from atty stress!!!!
may try silver kit if one o the posts above is anything to go by
:evil:note to manufactuers:SORT IT OUT!!!!it cant be that difficult to make one that will work consistently an i for one would happily pay extra for it!

Hey guys... only got thru 6 pages of this thread and now I am late for work... but I have a THEORY!

Mind you.. it is only a theory... but I think the atomizers last longer if they keep "active". It seems to prevent the gunk from having a chance to build up. Also.. cleaning cycles.. as much as we all hate them... let them go. We are more likely to kill an atty by cleanign ourself than by letting it "clean itself". So it takes a bit for the nasty burnt taste to go away... but rinse after cleaning cycle to get out any loose gunk and leave overnight.

I alternate between a few diff devices. If I rinse and clean them and then let them sit.. they seem to work ok when I come back to them. If I leave them in the device but DON'T use it... they seem to die faster.

So... my suggestion is... alternate between TWO attys... no more... then they are both in use regularly and neither sits too long and they both stay moist. t just seems from what I read that steady regular use keeps them alive longer.

Keep 'em MOIST boys and girls :)

(That also means not vaping them dry and keeping your filler wet and puffed up in the cart! And there is no logical reason why dripping vs carts should kill an atty faster... maybe a battery if the juice runs in it tho! Also... not sure PG vs VG is relevant.. but post which you use when you respond here!)

Interesting, there could well be a connection between
time left un-used in the device & time before getting burnt taste.
Maybe there's slow drying going on disposing the coil to creating more gunk ?

I rotate as many atomizers as I can -
currently 7, four are 901's, two are 510's one is a 4081 (used less)
(and some 'real' smoke time :( )

All the (tea-bag filled) carts get topped up at roughly the same time,
but I notice they are all beginning to taste a bit naff at the same time,
even with fresh juice.

The clean cycle - my beef is not that it doesn't work well
or often enough (with atty cycling), but with what it puts out as you inhale.
Really don't like that after seeing the possible metal levels in the gunk,
and the ash-dirt it still leaves behind.

I think regular manual cleaning is a good idea,
in fact I must put that into practice more

(btw, liked your 'intro to e-cigs' video, but couldn't help imagining
all sorts of innuendo, even in your most innocent phrases )

I used coffee filters for about 2 days.. was a nice "clean" taste.... but didn't last long enuf.. had to change them every day or got thet dirty taste. But had to toss them full of juice and couldn't seem to extract from the paper... so I figured it was not worth the waste of juice.

Innuendo? Who me??? Nah :)

Moist hehehe :)
