My first one lasted about two months. It had a defective screen. It still vaped but I could not see the display to see what my settings were. I sent that one back and received a new one. This one has lasted for around 6 months so far with heavy use. Regardless of how long a mod lasts, get a backup and a backup for your backup.

I'll second that. Regardless of what I am carrying with me for the day, I don't leave the house without a backup.

    No you can't
Have mine over a year finally had a major problem to over come with it. I guess I wore out the screw part of the 510 connector some of my tanks that always screwed on don't any more until I found the fix.

Take a 1/8 inch wide piece of aluminum foil wrap it around the tank 510 connector then screw it on.

Don't touch the center pin with the aluminum foil.

Leave the aluminum foil in the vamo it will make the threads like new again.

    Works for me.

This should work with all devices with a screw on connection.

I too have learned my lesson with the Vamo threads. I had the 2 and now the 3 and both have stripped on me. I think with the 3 however happened when I had my IBtank on it and knocked it over. The tank was tilted in the threads. But still you think it could hold up a little bit better then that.

I've had mine for a year...the switch has just started wearing out.
This is not surprising since I vaped on it pretty much non stop...I must have hit the fire button a gazillion times, lol.
It has become my Ohm checker for my RBAs and when it won't turn on anymore because the fire button is totally toast, I'm going to tear it apart to see what's in it, lol
I'd buy one again..it was a good mod!

Updates - in about 9 days the wife's and mine turn 1 year old in our possession. Wife's is still doing great..

Mine had taken two major falls in the last 4 days.. 1st was off a counter height table onto a hardwood floor. Snapped the RC200 (ego connection 2ml BCC) I had on it at the base. It also ended up rebooting it's self into N01 mode (which I didn't catch until two days later I couldn't figure out why everything tasted nasty on it..), but still worked and was able to put it back into N02 mode.

Then, last night.. in bed watching a movie with the wife, forgot I had it with me when I jumped up, flung my vamo up 6 feet and CRASH into the floor (again..). I imagined my X8 carto tank that was now on it to be in pieces.. and the vamo to be no longer working... BUT..
While the X8 is on there at a very serious angle, the carto part bent and Stuck in the threads.. it's all still in one piece and Vaping like a champ!
I guess that X8 tank is on there until that carto stops working.. the threads will not be able to take anything after this... Looking for a box now to start converting it into a box mod LOL.. Hopefully it will last a few more weeks!! ;)

I got mine from Vapor Break in mid-March, 2013, so it's a little over 9 months old and still going strong. I use it pretty much all the time I'm at home (I carry a couple eGos batteries with cartos to work), so it's gotten plenty of use. It's rolled off the end table onto the floor a couple times and the press-fitted joints needed to be re-seated. No problems with the threading so far.

I'm thinking of ordering a V5 from FastTech as a backup, though.

They are a bit taller than the other models tho which is bothering me personally.

Are you saying the V5's are longer than the other Vamos? If so, how much are we talking about?

EDIT: I just checked the Fasttech site, and it lists the V2 size as 22 mm x 121 mm and the V5 size as 22mm x 136 mm. I need to measure my V2 when I get home.

at 5:40, he compare a vamo v1 to a vamo v5 but I'm pretty sure that the height of the vamo v1, v2 and v3 didn't change.

Don't know why changing the o-ring would effect which tanks you can use... that sounds more like a thread problem... unless the o-ring used was too fat and that didn't leave enough 510 threads showing to screw tanks on properly. This will also happen if you don't remove the existing grommet under the pin, before installing the new one.

That's exactly what it was, Trayce! Thank you for your input! My husband was too stubborn to use the ones I told him to get and put one from a kit of his in. It works fine now that he put the recommended ones in, even after I dropped it! :)

My v5 lasted for less than a week. Just happened to get a faulty device, I think. Requested store credit instead of a new Vamo when I returned it to Fasttech, but that's only because I realised that I liked my SVD more and decided to get a second one as a backup.

Hey All: Great Thread! I Love my Vamo’s! I have 3 V2’s Chrome, Black Chrome & Stainless. I got em all from Vapor Break. I’ve had them going on a year now and still Vaping Strong No issues! Well, not exactly the stainless V2 when received the positive button stuck out a bit more then the negative button? I twisted the head a little and it dropped down in place!?

Purchased a V3 a month ago from local vender it lasted 2 days before threads went. Exchanged it for a Stainless V5. Have to say I really Like the new features of the V5 and the OLED Screen! And the Trick with the Body Tube and Top Cap over the Protanks is Pretty Cool! Protects the Glass Tank and 510 Connector in a Fall! And what a Look!

My Vamo’s are my go to machines. Mainly use em in 18350 short mode running Wattage. Short Mode especially when out and about! Though I have way too many devices I prefer the Vamo’s over them all for everyday use!

Whether using RBA’s like the Russian & Kayfun or the Protanks 2’s, iClear 30s & 30b’s, Tank Cartomizers or Dripping Atomizers like the Helios in Quad Mode (especially when you crank up the watts!) they all work well on the Vamo!

For the price you get a lot of features and the quality is pretty damn good for the price point! Which a lot of fellow forum folks know from experience!

It’s great to see folks have figured out ways to repair the Vamo’s! Thanks for the info and links for future reference!

I still use my eVod VV’s for stealthier carry. The Cool Fire 1 & 2 are pretty cool Mods and the CF1 is pretty stealthy for carry and I’m getting more & more used to the KSD KMax with its one button control but it’s a scratch magnet. Then there is The Brick the iTaste VTR that hits Like a Freight Train and can also be used as a self defense device! And of course there are all the Mechanical Mods like the K100, Omega and Chi You that are just plain fun to play with but it’s the Vamo’s that get my highest daily use blessing!
