How long have you been vaping?

I have been vaping for a week now and have alread moved down to 11mg juice. I hope to move down to 6mg juice within the next week or so and then be done with vaping.

I am just wondering do people quit smoking cigarettes and THEN quit vaping or do you keep vaping for years?

I don't want to set myself up for replacing my smoking habit with a vaping habit. I want to step down and quit all nicotine.

Any thoughts?

Congratulations!!

I started vaping because I couldn't quit smoking. I've only been doing it for a couple months, but I'm fine with vaping. Vaping eliminated all the reasons why I wanted to quit smoking- health & smell.

I'm addicted to nicotine, no question. I'm also addicted to caffine.

Eventually I hope to reduce the nicotine levels, but I'm just so thrilled that I'm not smoking that I don't want to push it. Baby steps...

It'll be two years in April. I never really had a goal of giving up vaping and for that matter never expected to quit smoking when I picked up my first e-cig. My health has improved noticeably since then and I've just had a completely healthy checkup. With no ill effects that I can see, I really don't see any reason to give up vaping. Too much red meat, too little exercise, several daily cups of coffee and not enough fruits and vegetables are at least as likely to do me in as vaping. A long term study may prove me wrong someday, but until then I'm going to enjoy it.

I've been vaping 4 months. After 2 months I dropped my nicotine from 18mg to 12mg. I am already stocked up on 6mg and 0mg for cutting old 12mg faves. I hope to drop to 6mg this weekend or next. If that works out well then in a month or so I may start phasing in 0mg.

I don't really intend to stop vaping. I do intend to get rid of my nicotine use. I think the mechanical habit would be harder to quit.

And grats Rosa!!

I've been vaping since July 1, 2010. I have no plans to quit or cut down my nic level either. I didn't even plan to quit smoking when I bought my first PV. I expected to smoke until I shed this mortal coil. I got my first PV with the idea of having a portable/personal hookah and ended up preferring vaping to smoking.

I've been vaping on and off for quite a while, but the last analog was 100+ days ago. I just decreased my nic from 18 to 11 and am hoping to eventually get to no nic. Then maybe I'll stop vaping too, but maybe not. After all, as far as we know right now it's not harmful and I love the flavors.

three years february 11th.

started out with 24mg, and have used 24mg for the entire three years.

I'm of the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" school.

I find the equipment and juice that is right for me, and I stick with it.

I never changed the kind of cigarettes when I smoked either.

when I tried an unfiltered, or an ultra-light, I was always disappointed.

seems to me like always changing voltages and mg strengths and atties and equipment will generate inconsistent results.

I vape because I don't want to smoke cigarettes, and because I enjoy it.

call me old fashioned (but don't call me old), I just like consistency.

:)

I have been vaping for 2 months now. I have been on zero nic juice for 3 weeks. I know I am an exception for the most part, but for me, the nic was the easy part. It is the security blanket that I cant give up. The motion is everything for me. I don't even miss the nic..I went from 24 to 11 in a week..then to 6 and 4..then to zero. But I enjoy my vaping, and I enjoy my flavors. I see no reason to rush quitting vaping, if I ever will get to it at all. If it gets to the point where I can simply take or leave it, I will leave it. Until that point though, pass me my bottle of butterfinger juice, my cart is almost empty.

We all have slightly different goals. If yours is to first quit cigarettes and then nicotine and finally quit vaping that's great.

I bought my first PV simply to use as an alternative to smoking when it would be more convenient. Four hours after I started vaping I decided to quit smoking. About 6 weeks later I decided I'd set a new long term goal of eliminating my nicotine addiction. Expected that to take quite a while if ever. To my surprise I reached that goal at about 4 months after I started vaping. Yes, someday I may stop vaping but right now I'm still addicted to the actions of vapings. I'm enjoying the fact that I can vape without nicotine. After six months the thought of wanting to smoke a cigarette still hits me once in a while. Not in a terribly strong way, but the thought does creap in. I fully understand how easy it is for someone that has quit smoking for 6 months or much longer by any means of quitting can start smoking again. As long as I can vape if I wish I know that I will never ever smoke another cigarette again. If I did stop vaping I would still keep enough vaping supplies to vape if I felt I needed to for a long time.
