Hello everybody,

My question arises from my experience with these mods:
a- Sigelei Legend. juice in the screen. Refuses to die, pain to make it work.
b- Vamo V2. Went crazy after a fall. A pain to make it work until it died.
c- Sigelei 20W. juice in the screen. Gave it away.
d- Another Sigelei 20W. juice in the screen again. Short circuit. Refunded.
e- Innokin SVD. Today it refused to start, out of the blues. Working, but not enough power.
This was supposed to be my workhorse.

I also have a Provari 2.5. Never a problem. Never mistreated,
but has fallen a few times, Even in concrete. Works great.
This is not an ad. But a reality. Maybe I don't use this as much as the others.

In some instances, I know it has been operator error.
Too many different atty's that open from the top, the bottom, etc.
Still, liquid is not supposed to go into the electronics. Or is it?.
Anybody has had the same experience?. Or a solution?.
Sorry for the long ranting, but my patience has a limit.

How did you manage to get juice inside the screen of 3 different mods?

Liquid should never get on the mod at all, which is why I'm wondering how you've managed to do it so often. In the year+ that I've been vaping I don't think I've ever had more than a drop end up in the 510 connector from a leaking clearo, but that was quickly noticed and immediately cleaned up because the mod doesn't fire correctly with a wet 510 connector. I couldn't imagine covering the mod with so much juice that it ended up on the electronics inside, much less doing it 3 times.

Liquid should never end up outside of the tank unless there is a major problem with the tank itself.

You'll find the provari is a robust mod and will take some punishment, but you might also want to reconsider the way in which you are using your equipment.
APV's can be almost as sensitive as cell-phones, just because they are metal tubes, it doesn't mean they are tough or can take a fall. Certainly, spilling e-liquid into the drip well and not cleaning it off immediately is asking for trouble with most of them.

My Vamo V2 has lasted me about 15 months with moderate use. I also have a couple of APVs that are coming up to the year mark with no issues.

Wow, didn't know this was a problem. I just assumed that all metal tubular mods were pretty much unbreakable. I drop my provari constantly (I've even dropped it in a swimming pool on one occasion) and it's been 2 1/2 years and still going strong *knock on wood*...Might have to re-assess the way I handle mods for when I buy another.

p.s How are you getting juice under the screen?:s...Don't dunk the whole mod in it.

Meh... if you mistreat, abuse or get liquid inside the devise it will malfunction.

Liquid getting inside the device is not really what makes it malfunction. It is because the unit is operated with liquid on the circuit, which alters operating characteristics and will most likely lead to malfunction. If any liquid ever gets into a device it must be cleaned and dried asap! Never fire a drive that has any liquid on the circuits.

We could go back and forth here really... which came first the hen or the egg....

If liquid gets into the devise and you use it while still "wet", you're screwed.

Still, liquid is not supposed to go into the electronics. Or is it?.

If you are gonna ask a rhetorical question...

No. Any more than you aren't supposed to dump a cup of coffee inside your toaster. (Or drop your toaster for that matter...) But you don't see toasters made with 15 different "anti cup-of-coffee guards" - just because someone can manage to do it.

Look, if for whatever reason you are unusually hard on your gear you have to stop buying the low end stuff - repeatedly - wondering if and when you are going to get a different result. (What's that definition of insanity?) That leaves you with only a few pretty much indestructible options: A Provari - which you already own and is at least repairable for a VV device. Or a Reos box mod - ditto on the pretty much indestructible and yet repairable, if you want a non VV option that can take LR devices.

Lessons learned:
a) Sigeleis get liquid inside the electronics when mistreated. (And, no, it can't be cleaned.)
b) Treat the mod as a cell phone. Good advise.
c) Buy another Provari for back-up. I tend to lose mods too.
d) Stop the insanity. Peaches don't grow in oak trees.
I was ready to buy a Sigelei 30W. It has a different pin. (From the pictures.)
Thank you all for your kind and prompt replies.

This is interesting - I regularly take my mini PT2s off my itaste vv v3 to swap out flavours, and will frequently find a bit of juice (or is it condensation?) on the battery connector. Is this a tank issue, or just normal? I always clean it off, and will often take the topper off after a vape break to clean it up. It's not a lot - just a drop.

All these chinese metal tube vv/vw mods are fresh stuff. They didnt get proper testing before release so its hard to say how long will they last. It depends on the use of each vaper! Circuit board should last quite some time, but buttons and threading are a whole different story. And they are big and usually not cheap. I dont like them anymore...

Provari is built and designed with much more care and thoughts and therefor it is a lot more expensive and also longer lasting.
