Hey everyone, been lurking here for a while and decided to make a profile to ask some stuff.
Was a cigarette smoker for 7 years, quit on 4/20/2014. Have been vaping for a while now. Just ego type. Been wanting to go into VW or VV/VW and I'm not sure what to get.

I've been looking around and have seen the best good/bad review ratio to be the Provari v3 and Vapor Shark rDNA 40w.
If anyone has opinions on either please let me know. Or let me know of some other ones with pros/cons.

My main concerns are: Safety, safety, safety (so ONLY regulated),

Being VW/VV (don't really care about controlling volts as long as it does it for me),

Not having to upgrade (ever),

Durability (A lot of mech mods are more durable, but I am kind of leaning towards a box mod, since it doesn't roll around),

Firing button/Screen (MUST. I can't stand a bottom pushing fire, Or adjusting the wattage/voltage by turning part of the mod, screen can be anywhere.),

And being able to use both tanks and drip (which is everything nowadays, but you never know...).

I know being new to mods I shouldn't be shooting for a high wattage. That's why I want something that I can start low, and see if I can work higher, or even enjoy it, so I could keep it at a lower setting if I don't. Which is why I like the sounds of the rDNA 40 because it has a range of 1-40w. But would I ever want to go higher? Reading stuff it seems some say its 1% of the community that vapes high, others say it's up to 40% of us.

Price isn't too important. But I would say the P3 would be highest. Not paying for a Variant by Vicious Ant or anything crazy like that haha. The best price/performance and the more it fits what I'm looking for the better of course.

Need some opinions! Sorry it's so long...

TL;DR What VW/VV Mech Mod/Box Mod to get that is safe and durable that has a screen and side fire button(screen can be anywhere)?

Many new, young vapers seem to think one has to 'progress' to higher and higher wattage to get a good vape. Maybe because of cloud chasing on Youtube. If you just want a great mod which is durable and proven, a ProVari is the only real choice. If you want to cloud chase, I can't help. P3 would be my choice. You can get more information here--

ProVape

The ProVari 2.5 is also a great deal with the price reduction...
The ProVari is made in the USA, while the VaporShark in China, if that matters to you...

I have a VaporShark rDNA 40 and I've been pretty happy with it. Compared to other DNA devices it's pretty affordable, nice small size compare to some, wireless charging, and some other nice features. Plus it will fire down to like 0.2 ohms and up to 40 watts, so pretty flexible device.

I've never owned a ProVari, but they are supposed to be excellent quality and have a good warranty/support. That said, I just can't get over the fact it's $250, only has 20 watts, and only fires down to 0.7 ohms.

Oops sorry about that!
From my personal experience, the ProVari is a rock solid device with a great warranty. I've had 5 and haven't had to send one in. Be sure to check some of the threads on here in reference to both of the devices you mentioned. I don't have any experience with the VaporShark.

Good luck!
Awesome thank you. Hard to know where to look there's so much info out there.

Yea I do like the fact ProVari is USA made. Do you know any others that are made in the US? And by progressing I meant more finding what I like, if I even like high wattage. And that what would be nice about something that went low or high, find that sweet spot. Also don't really care about cloud chasing that much. It would just be nice when one of my friends pulls out his mod I can throw my dripper on and show mine off too, Since I'm so new to that aspect of it, I would just like to know what kind of wattage people also run on these types of devices, for what kind of usage also. Since maybe there are some cloud chasers who use these devices(or others) and can give me some hindsight. I'm pretty sure the rDNA would be able to have the "show off" aspect, but I'm new, so maybe the p3 at 20w would be plenty.

Yea being over $300 for a p3 starter kit. It's hard to just order it. Why I'm trying to get some more opinions. What wattage do you run at? Would you run higher if you could? Do you use it for normal vapeing or cloud chasing, or both?

People seem to lean more towards ProVari between these two. But what about any other ones? I'm not just looking at these two, they're just what I have been able to narrow it down to from what I have personally found.

Provari's are incredibly nice but the fact you cant do real.sub ohm vaping with it is what killed it for me. Once I built my first 0.6Ω build my provari became obsolete, ended up collecting dust and eventually traded. Vapor shark is a good one as long as you dont go too deep into sub ohm vaping (40watts @ 0.2Ω is liking hitting a mechanical with a VERY dead battery) My go to devive has become my Sigelei 150. No I rarely need anything over 100 watts but its a solidly built device with ease of use.in mind. And if youre using less than 50 watts 2 18650 batteries last a VERY long time in it...my 2 cents

A Reo is US made.

A Reo is a mechanical mod with a bottom feeding dripper (you wind your own coils) and an onboard tank. REOSmods - Which REO and Atomizer is for me?

I have one LP (low profile) Reo Grand and 4 of their Woodvil's (limited run item - see my Avitar).

If you think you might be interest in a Reo, come on over to the Reosmods Forum and browse around. Lots of information and lots of very friendly members to help you if you have any questions.

From what you are saying, it seems like the rDNA is what you want in terms of features and flexibility.

It is irksome that the provari only fires to 20w which makes it difficult to run a dripper. However, if you want bombproof durability and craftsmanship, then the Provari should be considered

Also keep in mind that Yihi will very shortly be introducing an SX Mini which will feature their sx350j board with temperature control at around that same price point. The SX mini is an excellent alternative. I would wait to see what that looks like before dropping $200 on something else.

If you want a great vape on a budget, the sigelei boxes offer astonishing quality under $100.

I own an Atlantis subohm tank, I wouldn't really call that cloud chasing, and I run it at 30 watts. My other non-subohm tanks I run at 15-18 watts typically.

If you're POSITIVE you won't want to try a subohm tank or RDA, the ProVari is a great device from everything I've read. You could always get a second device to run subohm/RDA type atomizers if you bought the ProVari.

I only looked at DNA devices when I went shopping for a new mod last year, here are reasons I decided against some:

Vapor Flask: Too expensive, hard to get.
Hana Modz: Bigger than VaporShark, expensive, people say internal parts are kind of crappy.
Others: Ugly, boxy, battery not replaceble.

Have a look at the e-lvt2.

If you can afford an rdna40 that is a whole new ballgame; still pretty new though; and you'd want to use rebuildable and the special nickel wire to make use of the temperature control.

I don't have a provari, but I run my drippers at 10 watts all the time; highest I usually go is 12 watts.
