How long to break atty in?

I received my first 510 ecig. When smoking the first thing i noticed was the tingling/metallic/burnt taste. i assume this is the break in period for the atty. i've tried dropping juice onto the atty and changing flavors, but no luck. still have the taste. i feel that if i aim the tip of the 510 downward i'll get the taste even more than when horizontal. how long is the break in period? will it taste like this forever?

i noticed the atty is touching the cart filler, is this normal? maybe the cause?

I blew it out real good and never had a problem, I did forget to drip a couple drops on it before vaping but still didn't have any bad taste.

Probably the primer the manufacturer puts in for shipping. I blow mine out from the threaded end, nasty stuff comes out, set it threads upon a piece of paper for as long as I can stand it. Then I re-prime it with juice, leave the cart off and push the button for a couple of seconds while I blow on the atty so it wont over heat. Repeat a couple of times. Re prime and go for it.

The stuffing has to touch the atty or it wont wick.

umm i know this might be a tough question, but what do you consider 'real good'? i feel like i did a decent job getting a couple drops of primer out. i blew w/ the batt side touching my lips.

I blew it out until nothing came out- taking a couple minutes in between so I wouldn't pass out from lack of oxygen. lol

I only go for a couple of drops. Big drops. Thats why I put it on the paper. It's like starting a siphon. The blowing starts the draining.

It took me about a day to get my 510 atomizers to peak performance, but i guess it'll depend on how much you vape xD

Every new 510 atty comes with a coating of oil that protects the internal parts from oxidation while in storage and during shipping. Before you use any new 510 atty you must blow out as much of this oil as possible and here's what I do:

With all of the threaded end in your mouth and a tissue to catch the oil at the cart end, blow hard for a good 5-10 seconds. Then with a corner of the tissue gently put it into the open cart end to absorb excess oil but do not twist the tissue. Now blow through the open (cart) end for good 5-10 seconds and catch the oil that comes out of the threaded end into a tissue and wipe the threaded end nice and clean.

Put the atty onto your battery and while holding your PV vertical drop 3-4 drops of your e-juice directly onto the bridge (the center metal part) inside your atty. Put on an empty cart with no filler and lightly take a few good vapes but do not inhale - blow it right out. Remove the cart and put a couple more drops, cart back on and repeat (do not inhale). One more time with 2 drops, no inhale.

By now your atty is pretty well primed and you can put on your favorite cart with flavor and be good to go. Keep in mind that as much as the first hour or more that you may still taste some residual oil but eventually your flavor will come through nice and clean.
