How long will a 510 cart last before refilling?

Hello all. My 510 carts (regular size from TW) don't seem to last long in between refills. Refill, meaning I take out the polyfill and put 10 drops of VG liquid into cart and put polyfill back in. Afterwards I drip maybe 2 or 3 drops of liquid on top of polyfill. AFter this is done, I seem to get only about 8-10 puffs before I get low vapor or burnt taste. ( And my draws aren't real long, maybe like 2 seconds and I get good vapor.) So I check the cart and the polyfill looks empty and there are no leaks whatsoever. I did try the mod where you cut off one end of the polyfill and leave about 3/4 to 1/2 inch polyfill to put back into the cart.
I do read that one cart should last like about 5-9 cigarettes, but that would depend on how long of a draw you have and how often you draw on it. Every user is different.
Is is because the VG is thicker and runs out quickly? I have used PG liquids and I sort of get the same short cart life before refilling.
I do clean my atty's about twice a week and am not a real heavy vaper. my 1 atty is a month old and still works and I have two spares I got about a week ago which work fine.
When I first got my 510's (Titan), the prefilled carts seemed to last a while before refilling. Now it seems like they don't last as long and these carts are new!!!
Sorry for the long post but I was wondering if I was missing something.
Thank you very much!!

That's my main complaint about the 510 carts. When I use my 510 LR attys I get maybe 6-7 puffs off a cart. I don't think you're missing anything. I even get to where I was using maybe a quarter inch worth of filler as more of a stopper and that takes it to 15-25 puffs depending on the juice. I've switched over to the ego mega attys that I can put 2-3ml in each cart. Now a cart will last me 2-3 hours chain vaping.

The 510 mega attys aren't too bad either.

Aren't the 510 mega attys the same as the eGo mega attys? Anyway , jr mith, thanks for your insight. Maybe I'll switch over to the mega atty's. I know you have to use the mega carts with those mega atty's as regular carts will not fit into the mega attys, as far as I know. Anyone else having short vape times between cart refills?

Right. Also, isn't the ego the same as the Totally Wicked Tornado? Can the Tornado batts can be used with 510 attys???

Edit: Jr, I see the ego mega atty's, they are the same as the TW's 510 mega atty. Just trying to keep same manufacturer for my 510's. I may go the mega attys and carts because they look like they can hold ALOT of juice!!! Thanks

Have the same problem with the carts. It has become a PITA and my wife and I seem to spend more time fiddling with the juice and devices than vaping. What started out as something pleasant has become a pain in the neck. Dripping is a little better, but again, you still must be "servicing" the PV all the time. We have not tried any of the mods due to the expense. It seems that the ads make vaping sound like the next best thing to the wheel. A little "sales puffery" in my book. I'm about ready to chuck everything out the window and just go cold turkey. I may be a bear for a while, but at least I'd get off the nic if I can muster the will power to do it. I really hoped vaping was going to be the answer, but the longer I do it, the more frustrating it becomes. Sorry about the negative tone, just giving my opinion after a month plus of vaping.

The other thing I forgot to mention was trying a cartomizer. I've heard they work well once you master filling them. But we are quickly becoming experts as "field dis-assembly" of our PV's. Think I can do it in the dark now....lol. I really don't want to quit trying, but I really am disappointed with the carts.

Thanks for the idea, Mitch. I will check it out. There has to be a reasonable cost solution to my frustrations. The idea of vaping was two fold.... reduce and eventually get off the nic ( I have a major back surgery coming up and the doc won't operate till I'm off nic for better bone healing), and save some money. Maybe I was deceiving myself thinking I would save money with all the "toys" out there to try...lol
I'll check out the video on Totally Wickeds' site.
Really appreciate your advice...... Horton
PS... what side of the state are you on?

The 510 mega atty is the same size tube diameter as the standard 510 atty, but twice as long. That makes room for a long cart that holds twice the juice. I can get around 25 or more drops in the 510 mega using a blue foam dart filler.

I also have the Ego Cone Mega atty and it holds about 1.5ml of juice, but has issues with proper wicking of the juice. That can be fixed by using the blue foam dart. You have to cut the foam correctly or you will get leakage (too loose) or it will be too tight to feed properly (too wide). Once you cut a foam dart where there is just enough squeeze as it goes in to seal to the sides of the cart, you are home free with much more vapor and taste than the 510 atty. I like the Mega Cone Atty, but the 510 mega is actually a better feeding cart and you get lots of juice in the cart.

Horton, I live in southwest Fla. And you?
Here is the link to the video for Totally Wicked.
YouTube - Totally Wickeds Mega Tornado Atomizer + Cartridge and Tornado cartomizer
Also when you go to the TW website look for Tornado Mega Black cartridges. On the video, when the thing is put together, it almost resembles a cigar size! LOL
The Joye eGo from Vapor Pros have the same type of model . The TW and eGo are both made from Joye.

I know it can be confusing, however there are BOTH 510 mega attys AND eGo mega attys. They are not the same thing. The 510 mega attys use a 510 mega cart, and are simply longer than the standard 510s, but the carts hold more like 20 drops. There are also the eGo mega attys which do not fit the 510 batts. They come in both cylinder and cone style. And each style requires its own cart. Those carts, however hold a lot of liquid. I'm not sure how much but I think I remember that it is between 1.5 and 2.0 milliliters (a lot).

Mitch... I'm north of Tampa -- Hudson area... think it's called the "Naturecoast" area.... not that familiar with geography around here yet. Only been around this area for a year or so.

Checked out several videos including the one you suggested -- really appreciated you pointing me that way... They were really helpful, but still tired of screwing around with all the stuff and constantly washing my hands. They have never been so clean...lol I think I want to try a cartomizer next. They look like they might be the ticket. I'm starting to think the burnt taste is normal.....lol... I'm too stubborn to just throw in the towel... I'm not gonna let this stuff get the better of me....

Biggest mistake I ever made since using 510's: I bought cartridges ... in bulk ... 2 boxes ... 100 of them!!! What a waste and a hassle to prepare a days worth of them and then clean out in the evening. Oomph.
I bought cartomizers a couple weeks later and haven't touched cartridges since. At the moment I'm (im)patiently waiting for the arrival of some mega cartomizers. To give a better idea as to how long the cartos last: I load up 3 of them with my favorites-of-the-day e-juices and they last a day and then some (I never actually finish a single one in a day, because I like switching to a different flavor).
P.S. I lied: I do touch the cartridges. I've cut off the ends that go into the cartridges of a few of them and use them for mouthpieces for my cartomizers (I broke some caps and lost some).
