How low can I build?

I'm rather fond of extreme parallel coils, but only on a big atty on a big mechanical mod, with big batteries
I'm visiting out-of-state family in a couple of weeks and am going to have my brother do some coil building for me. I'll have him build several extreme parallel coils for me to try (for use in my mechanicals with a Sony 30A battery). What ohm build do you like?

Can you recommend any other type of builds you like (including gauge wire and tool wrap size)? Also tell me the ohm of the build you like even if it's low sub-ohm. I'll just raise it if it's lower than 0.2ohms. I'm going to have him build a variety of coils for me to try.

I think you'll really like .7 ohm coil with the RM2 and 1/16 air flow. That combo is really what I judge all other builds against for flavor. Even my Chalice at more than 3 times the cost is only slight better, not 3 times better or even twice.
Great! That's what I will have built when I go into the vape shop. What do you recommend as far as gauge wire and tool wrap size you like.

I used either Steam Engine or Coil Toy Calculator when when I was building but since I was so limited I have little experience with anything other than 28 gauge micro coils.

My adv is dual coils of 26g kanthal on a 2mm screwdriver that rolls at 0.3 - 0.4Ω. I still use Noalox on my Reo, even though it has the SO contacts!

You can achieve the same results with any wire, but i like 26g because it behaves itself and stays where i put it! I have used 32g dual parallels to get the same resistance, but i find they clog faster and are a lot more fragile. I go for bulletproof because my Grand always comes to work with me and runs the risk of a trip to a concrete floor at any given time.

I make rough old looking coils because i use Readywick and i think spaced coils do better on it. I make microcoils for HRH if pressed and they are likely to be the easiest to make, but since i have no idea how skilful your brother is, it's hard to make a solid recommendation. Suffice to say, i prefer performance from my coils rather then glamour (so a bit like my wives then!).

You will have to run a minimum of a 1/16" airhole, and maybe even a little bigger if you decide to go to 0.5Ω on a RM2.

Thank you!

I don't do well with anything fragile so it's bulletproof for me as well.

My brother knows absolutely nothing about coil building. We are going to be watching many videos together or I will be instructing him while he builds. I have already watched many build videos, and know what to do, but my hands just can't do it. Another side benefit, I hope, is to get him interested in vaping. He currently smokes and has shown absolutely no interest in vaping (I've been doing it for 8 years). The last time I saw him I was still using Vision Spinners so my current hardware may be of interest to him.

I to prefer performance over glamour -- HOWEVER I do really enjoy looking at the coiling artistry and build videos of Kent Hill (Twisted Messes). If anyone can do both, he's probably the man!

Don't be too hard on your Bro when he cannot make those!
:lol::lol: We won't be watching Kent's building videos. I'm trying to get him into vaping, not frustrate him and scare him away! We will be watching RipTrippers (unless I can find another YouTube builder who has good close-up camera). My only irritation with Rip is his "way-over-the-top" persona.

I like Deedupdex coils too.
I also like Deeduplex but wasn't aware of the link you posted, thanks. I have these links:

Deeduplex on Facebook
Deeduplex on Instagram

I have not spent much time in the Coil Builds Forum. Most of my time on this site is spent in the:

1. "New Member Forum" - answering noobie questions. That's where I learned all about battery safety (from Baditude). I hope others will join us to help educate the influx of "cloud chasers" buying mech mods and rebuildables with no clue (or education) about battery safety/ohms law/amp limitations. Baditudes recently announced hiatus from ECF is going to leave a HUGE hole. You won't be seeing Baditude posting on ECF in the near future

2. Allusion E-Juice Part 3 - My favorite juice vendor.

3. DIY E-Liquid Forum - I dabble in DIY but have not made a huge commitment yet.

I just recently subscribed to this forum. Hopefully as I read more I will become more knowledgeable and be able to contribute. I also don't want to miss out on the upcoming Woodvile sale!:)

Why this is no problem! Turn off the volume, turn on closed-captioning, see what you get. :D

Yep - I've seen you in there a lot, always with the good advice. Scary, some of those threads - ignorance and (sometimes) attitude.

You'll find this place is full of more, shall we say, comfortable vapers - knowledge abounds, showmanship is restricted to pride in the device, and there is respect... so much respect... for one another and, of course, Rob. From what I've seen of you, you'll fit in just fine.

Hi Susan, congrats on getting the two Woodvils!

Have you already seen Super X's videos? This is a basic coil build video here, might be good to get your brother started:

Maybe if you get a coil gizmo for your brother that will speed up his production, he could knock out 50 coils for you over a few beers :)
