I've had mixed results...

Friends, husband/wife couple - have been on/off since before I tried switching to vape the second time around (the husband getting an Ego kit for his birthday actually spurred me to revisit vaping last year after giving up on a 510 stick battery kit a few years ago). I think he wants to quit after watching the wife and I experience success, but whatever we do for her she wants to go back to cigs, and he follows. Conversion score: 0

Wife - bought her an Ego when I bought mine, after we'd been using them for a few weeks she was the one to give me the kick in the .... with a "We're going to quit smoking - tomorrow" statement 9 1/2 months ago. I now have to buy her one of everything I buy for myself, which is why I've spent so much on vape gear (see sig). Conversion score: 1

Another friend - got him into the vape scene, he acquired a boatload of toys (puts my arsenal to shame), but leaves them at home because he doesn't want to look "weird" busting out his Nemesis with a kayfun topper at a bar, and buys cigs instead. Conversion score: 0.5

Mother-in-law - bought her a full setup, 2 Ego batteries, charger, 3 Evods, a few juices in different flavors and strengths. Says she wants to use them, won't. I think the happydave theory is in effect here - she's not invested in it, and couldn't care less. Also one of the only indoor smokers I know (wife and I never were), and even though I'm concerned about my daughter's health sending her over for a visit I don't feel like it's my place to threaten to take her granddaughter away unless she does what I think she should do. Conversion score: 0

Brother-in-law - gave him an Ego and a topper, he soon went out and bought backups and a boatload of juices of his own, is now approaching 2 months smoke-free. Surprisingly, my sister even got interested after not smoking, and picked up a setup and a couple 0 nic juices of her own to support him. Conversion score: 1

So I'm giving myself 2.5 out of a possible 6 legitimate attempts. Not bad for a baseball batting average, but could be better when it comes to improving peoples' lives...

Has this friend tried tried a cig-a-like while out? I've notice a lot of people aren't as scared or put off by cig-a-likes. It's why most of us bought them first. Not all cig-a-like devices are a POS. Believe it or not, the Mistic ecigs that they sell at wallmart are really good. The flavor of the cartos is nothing to write home about, but if you buy magic mist blank cartos and fill them with your favorite liquid, They ain't bad. My wife and I both did our first two weeks on mistics. Within a couple of days, I was cleaning and refilling mistic cartos, until I found compatible blanks on line.

It's what I just gave my 24 y/o daughter the other day. I gave her two batteries (which last all day) a charger and 5 cartos I filled with different flavors. She watched me open and fill them while she was over the house, and took them home with her. I'll find out how she's making out tomorrow.

Might not be a bad idea to suggest - I'll run that one by him next time we hang out...and now that I have my Vamo and K100 that I'm not afraid to carry around he might be more receptive to vaping in public. When we went on a bar crawl a couple weeks ago I did make note to him of all the vapers we ran into on smoking patios, so maybe that will help too...

they are finding that a lot of the "cigalikes" are giving off Lead and other potentially hazardous metals because the connection inside the cartomizers heating wires are soldered with tin solder.

kanger coils are arc welded so no solder issues there.

Is there an actual study that proves this, or is this someone's theory. Usually the resistive wires (leads) don't get really hot like the coil part does. I don't think the leads get hot enough to melt a led/tin alloy.

Are e-cigarettes safe to use? New research shows metals found in vapor of electronic cigarettes - abc15.com | ABC15 Arizona

this is been a theory for a while and this study does prove to some degree what a lot of us suspected...
the boiling point of VG is 290 C Tin solder can have a melting point as low as 90 C.

http://www.plosone.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pone.0057987

this one compaires the amount found in the vapor to USP standards for medication.
http://tobaccoanalysis.blogspot.com/2013/04/metals-in-electronic-cigarette-vapor.html

its just something we need to be aware of, if the device is not functioning properly, taste weird or hot / burnt then its time for a new one.

Wow that is awesome work! What's your secret?
I vape everywhere I can...in the mall...outside of restaurants...at the park..at the bus stop ect and am very willing to speak with anyone about vapeing. I always had a kit precharged and ready to give to someone who was truly interested . My last 2 kits were given to an elderly couple in a assisted living center I had met at the mall when they were on a "field trip"..They gave me the address and I stopped by and had them sample e-juices and insured they were comfortable with how to use the set-ups :). the one before that was a young mom who asked me for a light at a bus stop. I guess being a sweet little grey haired ol lady helps too :)

Good luck fellow PA citizen. I hope they all find the light. My biggest problem with converting people is with the amount of work it's going to give me. Not that I'm against that but it's just like when people ask me to help them with their computer problems. I do all the work and even if I try to show them how to do it they seem to learn nothing but the fact that I'll fix it for them in the future. This isn't everyone but it is a majority. My wife bought me a shirt that says "No, I will not fix your computer". I think we should come up with a "No, I won't fix your flooding problem" shirt. Or how about "No, I won't clean your atomizer" .

Start charging $$

Just kidding :D

I've been vaping for about 4 years and so far have converted 5. The most important one was my brother. Smoked 2 packs a day and got him on board early last year. He completely went off analogs and started vaping. After 6 months was already down to zero nicotine and today is even off of e cigs. Proud of my bro! A good friend of mine converted last year. Recently he saw my Provari mini in my office and had to have one. First Provari convert.

My mom and her two smoking buddies at work. I work at the same place my mom does and I always see her two friends and her out for a smoke. Come in reeking and coughing and what not. Eventually I showed my mom my vape, how it works, how it tastes, etc. At first she didn't seem to care or like it. Eventually I was able to tell her it's the only way she will be able to stop smoking for good and not have to leave us early because of something petty like cigarettes.

Next week all three of them went out on lunch break around the corner from my work to the vape lounge and picked up eleaf ismoka starter kits! They still smoke cigarettes, but not nearly as much as they used to. My mom was a pack a day smoker and now she is down to just 8 cigarettes a day. I tell her to just stop it entirely but she things weening off like this is better, so to each their own. I'd rather her do 8 cigarettes a day instead of 20.
