How many "LIKES" do you have and how many have you given?

I've never figured out what "likes" are for. It seems really silly and rather pointless to me. I've got a bunch apparently, but have never once given one. More of that silly facebook crap (I hate facebook... if I don't care enough about you to call you on the phone, I don't need to be your "internet friend")

OH NO...can't be internet friends? Well, there goes my day. Oh well, life moves on I guess

I don't usually Like to just Like ( like they do on the coffee clatch type threads). I Like if I agree with a responding post to the thread or myself, and don't feel the need to actually post. Like when I grunt when the wifey asks me something:).

Or to call that poster back to the thread because of updated/added info on said post.

    Hmmm Who knew!

Blech. Well, that explains a lot. Beetles = pass.

I always take "grunts" to be yes or no...whichever suits my question the best. :D

    What are your stats? :)

    Likes Received (285)
    Likes Given (68)
Posts: 202... I guess this one is 203! (though I got into the "Lounge" for the "older folks vaping back porch", and apparently those posts don't count)

I forget about the like button sometimes.... other times, in a conversation in which I have no clue what they're talking about, I'll just hit "like" if someone says something I find either valuable or amusing, rather than butting in and displaying my complete ignorance... like all the stuff about resistance and variable this-that-and-the-other-thing... :D I figure I'm probably YEARS from "mods," or whatever they are, or rebuilding coils or wicks or... whatever! ;)

    omg

Edit: if hubby ever decides to grunt at me, I think I'll just grunt back...

.....then take it whichever way suits me...yeah I like that one :D

In all honesty i had forgatten about the "like" feature. And i really dont care much for it. I find it kinda facebookish and unnecesary.
I implicitly LIKE people participating in my conversations, taking interest in what i have said. So i see no need to explicitly hit a "like" button.
And i suspect it might lead to misunderstandings. Say i regulary use it, and i forget to hit the like button for some reply on my post (not because i dint like it, just because i forgot), that person might feel that since i dint hit the like button i dint like his reply!
Since i like people replying & participating in whatever conversation i might start, does that mean i have to hit the like button in every reply i get? if so, whats the point of having it?
i dunno, it just seems silly to me.

My point exactly! thats why i dont like it.
IMO this feature leads to inferences. Because it gives means to somehow "difereciate" peoples participation.
E.G. As you see i dint hit "Like" on your reply. you (or someone else) might infere that i dint like or cared about what you said. While the truth is that i DID care about it. Maybe i just forgot to use the like feature, or dont use it at all.
If i were to hit the like button on your reply, then i would have to do it for every other reply! otherwise people might infere that i dint like theirs! lol
So why add the "extra step" to reply to a thread?

my point, was that you can always hit the "quote" button and then add input or, not, either way, misunderstandings and such... well...
like you said, if it's silly, that's fine too :)
