How many people have you seen vaping in public (if any)?

Over the past 5 years I've lived in Philadelphia (Center City), Buffalo, and Pittsburgh (Metro Area). One huge city, and two smaller ones. I have never seen anyone vaping in public. Ever. I also travel a fair bit around the Eastern Seaboard and Mid-Atlantic regions. In the past year I've been through NY, OH, MI, PA, NJ, DE, MD.... still, never seen anyone vape in public.

I'm sure a lot of you have friends you've vaped with, or family members. I'm sure tons of you have vaped in public. But.... how many other people have you ever seen do so (people you don't know)? If you have seen/do see people vaping, may I inquire where you live or were? (General area is ok, I don't need your address, lol.)

The only time I have was at a casino in Vegas. I was so excited I wanted to run up and give them a hug, but realized that would be a little weird and possibly dangerous.

I actually see it quite frequently, at my work. Out in public, I've seen a couple dozen -- but up here at my office, between them offering PV hardware allowances under the smoking cessation program, and the number of actively eager ex-smokers, we went from about 5 of us a year ago to about 150 of us and growing daily.

One smoker up here who was making regular cracks at the vapers for the last year, just decided to convert this last weekend... and happily admitted he spent the last year being wrong.

I suggest most are vaping analog shaped e-cigs
and so we often would assume they are regular cigarettes.
You can't tell at a distance ... if they are PVs or cigarettes.

Another factor is the widespread smoking bans. We see fewer
smoking cigarettes today ... compared to a few years ago.

Whether we want to believe it or not ...
Most who are openly vaping in public are vaping an analog shape PV.
Tons and Tons of posts here and elsewhere ...
discussing vapers apprehension of vaping something that looks like
something out of a Star Wars bar in public. The public can NOT be
expected to know these devices are just harmless E-cigarettes.

Mainstream e-smoking in public is a Blu or Njoy shaped PV

May I ask what region of the country you're in? (Assuming you're from the US)

I saw two in the same place last January (before I started vaping). I was in a restaurant that, at the time, permitted smoking, and there was a couple vaping at one end of the table. There was also a guy smoking at the other end. What's weird is that the place must have been well-ventilated because I was only about 15 feet from the guy smoking, and I couldn't even smell any smoke until I walked past him to go to the bathroom.

Saw two vapers this weekend at a local outdoor food festival. One guy was using a cigalike with blue LED tip, he was standing in line, and the other had a small tank with what looked like an ego battery but with a wooden cover. He was very discrete with his vaping, and stealth vaped most of his hits.

I live in the metro area of Oklahoma, and vaping seems to be catching on here like a wildfire. Several shops have sprung up. It may not be seen in public very often, but a guy at my work does it in the backroom and every few days or so I see one or two people walking around using one, or using one in the retail store I work at... which is annoying, because they have to explain to everyone that it isn't smoke.

like wise I yet to see anyone vaping other than in our local vape shop. In public I have only vaped at work where I go outside with the smokers. And in my van.

The only time I've seen anyone else vaping in public was at a vape meet. I vape everywhere though: grocery store, airport, in the car, bookstore, etc..

I know of several that use them at my college. Altogether in the past 4 years Ive seen maybe 20, with sightings becoming much more common in the past year.

One. Was an older gentleman, had an eGo + CE4. Was at the base of Sandia Peak in Albuqurque, NM. We were both waiting outside to board the Tram.

Didn't approach him or anything, but it was my first 'wild spotting.' We were actually using the same setup.

So far, just based on this forum, I've found 2 other people in my area who vape, but I've never seen either out & about (one of them I actually know as we went to school together, and never got along).

I also have a buddy who has a V4L for a long time, but I don't feel that counts as we know each other.

There has to be more though. Pretty much every bartender in town is familiar with ecigs and will allow their use inside (at least at the dive bars). I assume this is from other folks asking & vaping there.

Saw my first vaper today. They had a cig-a-look ( I know cig-a-like) but I noticed the way they were holding it and drawing on it. Besides seeing the filter was black with a white end piece. Had to hold up my eGo and smile.

I saw a guy last weekend at Maryland Live casino with an ecig. He was at a slot machine and he was covering it with his hand but I saw the reddish light as I walked towards him. I wanted to say something to him and I should have...it probably would have saved me some $$. At that casino I still go outside with my ecig. At a casino in Delaware, I asked the security guard if I could use my ecig. He looked at it and said, "I don't think we have rules for that, so go ahead." Ha. I did, but only when there weren't others around me.

Quite enjoyed using mine walking through the casinos in Vegas. Didn't catch anybody glaring or even slightly curious.

There were kiosks selling expensive 808s,of course.

Ive always found banning of cigarettes in bars and casinos rather funny and hypocritical at the same time so its nice to hear that the e-cig is gaining acceptance on those fronts.

Between gambling, drinking and smoking its almost infinitely arguable which is worse depending on ones perspective.

Exactly zero, except my local vape shop and a few co-workers of my husband. However, I use my Provari in public places where smoking is ok.

Thompson, I'm in ABQ as well and meet up with a few friends at a bar last weekend...pleasantly surprised that a few of my new friends were vapers and saw a few more strangers around at the bar bashing as well.
