Usually when I'm at work(bar) when I take a drag inside that's when the other vapers come out and play.
It's seems to be always that way ...
Somebody has to go 1st ... to signal its OK
:p

My rule of thumb:
vaping is permitted ... "unless" management has the nannos
to approach me and tell me otherwise !!
:)

I live in Orange County, CA and I see people vaping all the time. Maybe it's the places I go, or the area I live in, but its typical to see someone vaping (usually with their ego's). I don't see too many people with more expensive mods vaping in public though. But, me, my gf, her sister, and her sister's bf were vaping in line at Disneyland and we noticed that the mom and daughter in front of us were vaping too. Lol

First encounter was last summer in the Denver International Airport, a guy maybe 24 was walking around vaping all throughout the airport. I was still on analogs at the time and caught him at the Smokers lounge (a restaurant that forced me to buy something to smoke in it) shot the breeze with him for a bit, he was surprised at how knowlegeable I was about e-cigs and APVs but still smoking analogs.

The second time was here at home in DC, I was standing at the bar of Clyde's waiting to be seated with my group and caught a woman nochalantly vaping a blu e-cig. My friend turned to me and said "why dont you pull out your lightsaber (my SS vamo in 18650 mode and a vivi nova on top) and show this lady what a real e-cig is about." Thinking about it now, she may have appreciated it, but i was wary to strike up a conversation with a stranger about 'my lightsaber.'

Personally, I vape in my office (i work in IT, so there are a lot of analog smokers, my boss looks at it as an efficiency increase, got positive marks on my yearly review since i don't go outside for 15 minutes, 8+ times a day anymore) in my car (you get weird looks from people in traffic, because windows up car full of vapor = something to gawk at) and sparingly at my regular bar (i hate having to explain and then people want to say why font you just smoke regular cigarettes). Other wise I go out side with all the other smokers and end up having to explain to all of them I'm smoking an e-cig. I feel like I would do it a lot more if I didn't have to constantly explain the same thing and have everyone around me questioning my decisions...

I haven't seen anyone vaping in public, but I did strike up a conversation with a guy in line at the grocery store who had one sticking out of his shirt pocket, just as I did. I vape in public, but try to be discreet if not exactly stealthy. Today I was sitting in the park reading, and once or twice took my rig out of my pocket and took a puff. A couple with kids walked by and gave me a hard stare. I was puzzled for a moment before I realized they probably thought I was smoking something illegal, and then I didn't really blame 'em. But there was no chance to explain.

Hey, when you're on the cutting edge....!

Tons in SoCal. I still get the question from out of state college kids "can you put w**d in there?"
I tell them no.
But it is becoming more and more the norm to see PVs out in public here.
I vape I'm public all the time, so I know people are seeing ME do it. And of course they don't smell anything so hopefully I'm putting forward a good impression of vaping.

In the Market
Over the past 5 years I've lived in Philadelphia (Center City), Buffalo, and Pittsburgh (Metro Area). One huge city, and two smaller ones. I have never seen anyone vaping in public. Ever. I also travel a fair bit around the Eastern Seaboard and Mid-Atlantic regions. In the past year I've been through NY, OH, MI, PA, NJ, DE, MD.... still, never seen anyone vape in public.

I'm sure a lot of you have friends you've vaped with, or family members. I'm sure tons of you have vaped in public. But.... how many other people have you ever seen do so (people you don't know)? If you have seen/do see people vaping, may I inquire where you live or were? (General area is ok, I don't need your address, lol.)
From just north of the St. Louis Metro-I've had two "wild" vape sightings; one was a kid in a tacobell with a cig-alike, one was a fella my age with a Twist and a Redux in Wal-Mart (It was hanging from a lanyard, can't remember if I actually saw him toot on it).

The only time I've seen anyone else vaping in public was at a vape meet. I vape everywhere though: grocery store, airport, in the car, bookstore, etc..
I walk around making clouds in the "big box" places. If someone who felt they had any power saw it, they might say nay, but most of the bleary eyed workers couldn't care less what I'm doing. Mostly more discreet if I think it will avoid confrontation. Had a guy at our local Chinese Buffet emphatically tell me "Don't USE THAT" (It was hanging on a lanyard, and the place goes non-smoking on the weekend). Then saw an analog user sneak into a corner booth of the (smoking during the week) section and have one with no consequence. It stunk. :p

Saw my first vaper today. They had a cig-a-look ( I know cig-a-like) but I noticed the way they were holding it and drawing on it. Besides seeing the filter was black with a white end piece. Had to hold up my eGo and smile.
I have made a point of "recognizing my fellow gang members" with a wave whenever I have seen them.
The place where I saw the biggest "group" of vapers in one place was at "PorcFest" in NH last summer. I don't count them as wild sightings because it was a "private" location, full of libertarian/voluntarist/anarchist types. It still blew me away how many there were. Mostly younger guys, numbers approaching the number of smokers---(of tobacco)- :p

It's seems to be always that way ...

Seems that unless some in authority sees it "loose", one can vape it up in most "public" places. Just don't be an ... and all is well.

My husband spotted one person vaping in Fort Lauderdale this past February when were were there and pointed them out to me but other then that I'd never seen another person vaping anywhere I've been other then at vapemeets and at my local vape store. The vape store is doing a great business since it opened so at least I now know there are others in my community vaping now, but I've not spotted any of them in public.

I don't have the need to vape all of the time, but I have an APV with me at all times and I'm not shy about vaping in public if I feel like it :)
