I recently switched full time to vaping after 14 months of both vaping and smoking. So this has caused me to need to pay attention a lot more to my vaping, as quitting smoking has been less than a treat and I did struggle a fair bit. I'm well over the hump though and it's been almost 2 weeks since this battle started and I feel that I have now come out on top for good.

Here's the thing though. My vaping progression has been pretty standard, started with an ego, then moved up to an LR atty, then moved up to a mod (Darwin). So like most vapers I've been looking to fry my juice, we all basically crank up the wattage or voltage to get more vapor, throat hit, maybe even taste, and so on.

I've always known that vaping dries out your mouth and lungs, however now that I'm just vaping I really realized this, and very recently I've been paying more and more attention to this. This might be a bigger deal for me, I'm on the dehydrated side naturally I guess, all that coffee I drink probably has a lot to do with this, however I'm not ever giving that up or even cutting down.

So I've been playing around with some of the lower settings on my Darwin and now have it turned down all the way to 4.2 watts and i LIKE IT. Actually I don't like it I LOVE IT. I still get the nic, the taste is surprisingly good, less TH but my throat thanks me and it turns out I don't care about that, less vapor but once again I don't care about that much, what I do care about is that the vapor I am inhaling is a lot less dry and a lot more moist.

Talk to me in a couple days and who knows, but right now I'm on the moister vape kick, and my body likes this a lot more. So I know most people like to vape at the mid to high end of the heat scale, I wonder if there's people out there who end up preferring the low end? In other words, instead of vaping above the standard 3.7 volts, vaping below it.

I'm not sure I'll stay at the lowest setting here, will probably play around with things, and what you use for an atty/cart probably makes a difference as well. So are there any other low vapers out there?

3.7 to 4.2 is the range I like best...I'm not much for high voltage with most flavors I've tried.

Good luck to you in making the switch to vaping. It took me over 2 years to find the combo that worked. I upgraded my hardware to Ego batts and Fluxomizers, bought a Lavatube, found some good 18mg to 24mg juice, and ordered a good supply of WTA juice for those really tough times.

I can't believe I finally made the switch 100%, but I'm doing good, and haven't had a smoke since September 25, 2011. You'll find your combo soon enough, if you keep looking, and when you do...you'll prefer vaping. THAT's when you'll be a non-smoker for good.

You're doing good! :)

On my Boge 2.0 and Smoktech 1.5 DCC I'm happy at 3.7-4.2 volts from AW IMR batteries in my mods. I've used 4.8 volt NIMH and it tastes burned too quickly for me with the DCC and the Boge's, so I'm in the flavor over throat hit camp. I don't like a burned throat either. I have a VMax coming and a pile of Boge 3.0's waiting, so I'l see if that combo gives me a better vape and a new sweet spot.

I do find that I like it hotter when I'm having a beer with my smoking friends. It just feels a little more like smoking and reduces the temptation.

Thanks 440BB for at least mentioning the ohms side of the equation.

Most of the posts so far have listed volts without ohms, so I can't tell what you're doing!

I vape at 5 volts, but I use 3.1 ohm stuff. Just under 8 watts. It's a bit hot. If I get my vv mod working, I'll probably cool it down a bit. So, yeah... particularly with vv, not uncommon at all to "turn it down". Juice tastes better.

As far as your throat hit and vapor, what PG/VG ratio do you vape? That makes a difference too. Pure VG has a totally full "cloud" of vapor... but if you closed your eyes, you couldn't tell you were vaping anything (no TH, muted flavors too). Pure PG has TH as does the nic, but less vapor.

Hot (no pun intended) day-um... I'm not the only one that prefers the 3.7-4.1V range!

The one advantage that I really enjoy with VV is that when I awake, I can drop the voltage by .1-.2V until my throat/lungs adapt. Then I adjust back up once I'm GTG (post-first cup o' caffine). This and fine tuning for a new joose/'mizer is the beauty of VV.
