Is there something you do turbocAd6 or funkdracula that makes the hose slide back on both easily as well as securely for no leaks.

Nah, just don't do it in the dark? Wiggle it on 'till it's flush against the ceiling. No leaks over here. I've been doing it this way about 11 months now. I think fellow Reonaut Narek does it without the tubes glued on as well if I recall correctly. Could be wrong.

Tube attached, tube not attached; it's not a huge deal IMO. Point is, if it detaches from the glue job that it came with brand new, it's far from broke of functional. Some of us actually prefer it for small reasons, like I talked about in my last post in this thread.

Cheers

My tube came off a long, long time ago. I never bothered gluing it back on, because I found just taking the whole assembly out to be better after the fact. It's easier to blow through it/wash it/everything bottle related. When I get new Reos, I snag the tubes off before even filling it for the first time.

Another little benefit is every once in a blue moon, while screwing the bottle back on the cap, the o-ring inside the cap can get positioned weird causing air squonks or leaking. Having the whole cap and tube out, compared to leaving it inside the Reo, allows for easier 360˚ glancing to quickly catch this little snafu if it should happen.

Also, as turbo said, should any mess occur, it's easier to have everything all assembled and give the entire assembly a quick rinse/wipe down.

The only thing to watch out for, is to just make certain enough length of tube is sticking out to ensure the bottle isn't hanging.

Cheers

Yep.. i agree. Been doing that method for over a year. I have had no issues with leaking either.

well I guess you don't want the tube to slide back on too easily because then it could pop off or leak, I never have a problem just push it on the first mm or 2, then wiggle it as I'm pushing it up, insert it ~1/4" and good to go

another thing I like about doing the whole thing as an assembly outside of the reo is I can close off the hose with my thumb and then squeeze the bottle to insure there are no leaks... I also have extra bottles loaded with hoses attached so I can just swap out a bottle like a cartridge assy in the same time it would take to swap out a battery

I use a silicone hose, search tygon food grade silicone hose. I think I use 3/16" ID X 1/4" OD. I bought 10' and I'm set for life :)

I think Rob is using a new silicone rubber feed tube, I believe he mentioned that it was nearly indestructible. Wiggling the tube or pulling it off frequently is obviously giving metal fatigue to the nipple nut and the tiny shaft it screws into. They are delicate parts; especially if you are "man handling". Be more careful and have spare parts or you could change your ways.
