I'm wondering how much folks are actually spending on their ecigs. I started vaping in early February and went back over my expenses today to see how I'm doing $ wise. Looks like I've spent $123 on hardware (battteries charges and atomizers) and $116 on carts (although I just ordered my first cartomizers so the distinction gets a bit blurrier.) I still have a lot of juice on hand and some of my hardware still works so let's say $200 net.

My first e-cig (a "clean" ecig kit (a 401 mini)) melted down when i tried to drip but it was a pretty crappy kit and the battery only lasted about an hour. The joye minifogger I have now is more robust but the atomizers fade pretty fast (although i am refining my cleaning techniques.) And of course i paid too much for the first kit.

But regardless of my own learning curve, it sounds like most folks go through a number of kits before they settle down on a favorite and the same with the juice etc. (and then some seem to become real afficanodos with expensive mods etc)

So what I am after is a a real world accounting of how much folks are really spending. Not the cute little analogs avoided $ saved signature thing--but the real amount spent on all the various kit and caboodle we all seem to end up buying.

(In my accounting i threw in the cost of the 1 pack of newports i have bought on a rough weekend where the atomizer was failing and stress was high.) I'm pretty damn happy not to be smoking tobacco--i just want to get an idea of how much folks are really spending.

Actual expenses:
"Clean" electronic Cigarette $59.99
"Clean" carts $10.00
Joye tech kit 2 bats 1 atomizer & charger $40.00
10 menthol carts & 1 10 ml juice $20.00
2 10 mil juice 10 carts 5 menthol 5 RY4 $30.00
2 atomizers 5 10 ml juce $16.00 $30.00
Newports 1 pk (20 cigs) $6.00
10 Cartomizers Capachino & Menthol $20.00
Adaptor $7.00

Hardware: $122.99 Carts & Juice: $116.00

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo.../69367-breakdown-how-i-spent-432-21-days.html

Ive only been at this for a week, but thus far....

2 batteries, both still working well (KR808D-1)... 30$ total
Charger... I think was 10$ish
1 5-pack cartomizers... 9$

Thus far, it seems like 1 cartomizer lasts me about 2 days

I just ordered
2 5-pack cartomizers at 8.25 a peice, so 17 total
1 5-pack blank cartomizers at 9.25
10 ml of eliquid at 8.25

Then I ordered from a different place a 30ml bottle of liquid and a 10 ml bottle of liquid for 30$ total.

So, total I have spent.... about 115$.

Given my average of 1 cartomizer per 2 days, I expect my current supplies to last atleast 2 months.

Compared to real cigs at about half a pack a day, at 7.25 a pack, 2 months would be about 217$.

I WILL need to get more blank cartomizers, so add in another 20 or so for that. I hope to not have to replace batteries within two months, but DO know that they will need replacing at some point.

So, if all continues to go will, I am looking at about a 40% price reduction from analogs to digital.

Hmm... let me see :

(all prices are Canadian unless otherwise noted)

Cleansmoke scam = said it was $3.95 for shipping ("free trial"), was charged 3.95 pounds instead, and they wanted to send me a months supply every month which would consist of no hardware and only 10 carts! I cancelled and ended up paying just the shipping and was left with a crappy e cig that has since died (no spare batt or atty either)

TW RN4081 = $70 roughly including shipping, I still use it on occasion, I like the auto batt, but it clogs easily, not very consistent, but good hits when it does work for me.

Joye 510 = roughly $120 including shipping for pcc, passthrough, 2 batts, 2 atts, carts etc. (the "whole kit and kaboodle" deal from HappyVaper). BLISS! (no other hardware that is not 510 will be purchased in the near future)

Joye 510 accessories (battery and atty) = roughly $25

Juices = around $100 worth, probably enough for 8 months or more for me.

E-go (yet to buy, but will purchase soon, so I'll include it) = $90 shipped

Total = around $400

In a month I would typically spend at least $300 on smokes (at $10 a pack here in Canada as I smoked Davidoffs, a premium brand).

If I work it out based on 8 months supply (which I probably have more in liquid, as I bought high mg stuff and cut it down as I go), I would spend easily $2400 on analogs.

WOW! This is the first time I have really broken it down, and I had to do a double take of the amount I spent on smokes. I've pretty much broken even already, and I'm sitting on many more months of supplies.

So, at present I am looking at saving at least $2000. And this includes 3 e cigs, one of which I am yet to purchase, one that has been thrown out, and one that I very rarely use. And all of this is at prices higher than most people south of the border here would typically pay (I prefer no customs issues, so I pay more to get my product from Canada).

Suddenly my next purchase seems that much more justifiable... UH OH!!!

Edit: I could add maybe $20 for Pyramid tea bags and VG, and I'm sure there will be many more small purchases over the next 8 months, but I really can't seeing myself even spending close to the original amount that I have spent.

I started vaping in Sept, I just shudder when I look back on what I spent on vaping in 2009.

Now that I know what I need and how to use the equipment properly I have set a target goal of spending no more than $1500 on vaping in 2010.

So far this year I have dropped $562 (which includes the purchase of the eGo). I won't need anymore supplies (juice or attys) until April. Based on this I hope won't exceed the 1500 target for this year: so far so good!

Anyway you slice up the cake, once you get control of what you are spending on vaping it is cheaper than analogs.

I have decided that I will never recoup my costs of vaping for 2009, so the focus for me
is 2010 and beyond.

m401 starter kit w/ carrying (not charging case), spare carts, foam, and juice $96
juice order from Ms ts $53 US
5 attys, 5 batts, more juice, smart 402 pcc $127.84 US (invoice was right in front of me)
Ms Ts order (big order, enough to last about 280 days) $271 US
5 ultra attys $75

so $451.84 US and $171 CAN

BUUT! all 14 of my attys still work, i still have about 20 mls of the first ms ts order, plus 15 mls of tv and 10mls of DIY flavorshack.....and the second order hasn't gotten here yet from Ms ts. all 7 batts are going strong too. so i figure i'm set for about another year on hardware too

Wow, NCC makes me feel absolutely thrifty :p
I only spent $600 first month, but I'm well stocked up, of course if I can keep my eyes off of all the new products :'

you may have spent $600, but how much of that was on brown bottles?

i think i'm in about $165 at the moment. but i'm being extremely conservative due to a really crappy financial situation.

Greetings,

I started on Feb 10th and last time that I checked I had spent $923.00. Since then I have spent another $73.00 on atomizers so I would have some of them stocked up.

I currently have about a 6 month supply of atomizers and at least a 2 year supply of juices.

I will be spending another $300 or so here real soon to get some more hardware, but after that I am good to go for all but atomizers for a couple years.

Just for comparison, I spent about $3000.00 a year on analogs.

Me and my wife have not tried to figure what we spent so far. We both look at it this way: We are having fun, enjoying a hobby together, and the biggest point: Not smoking analogs. How much we have gained could not be measured in dollars and cents. Thus how much we spent is irrelevant.

This pretty much sums up me and my husband's attitude, too. But I do know that I spent about $150.00 this weekend on Classifieds alone 8-o

$60 510 Scorpion - Dietsmokes
$50 901 - Totally Wicked
$20 Marlboro 30 ML
$15 Liquid Xpress 30 ML
$30 Tasty Vapors 2x 30 ML
$16 Spare Attys - 2x $8
$19 USB PT - $19
$70 Tornado - Totally Wicked
$26 Various 10 ML liquids
$306 Total, Not counting shipping on some of these

Really, that isn't too bad considering. I was a pack a day smoker who didn't even pay attention to the cost of smokes. I've eliminated about $8 per day, considering I'd religiously buy energy drinks when I bought smokes too ;)

Maybe I'm alone here but maybe not: When I spend money on e-cigs, it doesn't feel like a necessity unlike cigarettes, but instead a hobby. I find myself spending less money on other things for sure.

Very good point! I have been spending my playtime money on this as well which has cut spending there. so my total savings is hard to figure out.

I have spent about 265.00 this first month. That includes an order of juice and a SD that I just ordered. Not bad at all considering that it is for two people .We spent around 280.00 on cigs a month .

We read the forum for about two weeks before we made our fist buy so went for 510s to sart with and strait to refilling the carts instead of buying prefilled. I think that saved us quit a bit.

Day 30 for me and have already save some money. Yaa!:)
