I just recently got into diy I make mostly unflavored and unflavored with a few drops of menthol my recent order was 90$ a liter of 60mg vg nicotine base and a liter of vg according to my calculations I can make over 60, 30ml bottles of my current favorite juice. If I went to my local b&m and bought that many bottles of juice I would be spending well over $1000 wow! Why didn't I start this two years ago? So how much money are you saving?:)

I'm not quite sure how much I'm saving, but I know I was spending about $90 a week on juice a the local B&M. Now I make up a 100 ml Erlenmeyer flask that lasts me about 10 days or so, and it costs me well under $10, maybe around $7? Not sure, but I know its less than ten bucks. I'm pretty sure I'm vaping at less than a dollar a day.

Compare that to when I was smoking 2-3 packs a day, and spending about as much as I did on juice after I quit smoking. I had to make my own juice or just end up paying another middleman. Now I don't need anything from the B&M's at all. I can order the kanthal and mesh I need online, and the stuff to make my juice too, and it's all a lot cheaper.

The savings is so tremendous it has made me want to start my own shop with my own mixes.

Even a 36 mg 50 ml mix with 20% flavoring from Wizard Labs costs right at $5. The average cost I've seen around my area is $15 for 20 mL. This is just a worst case scenario - I don't vape 36mg.

So... that's $15 for 20 mL vs $15 for 150 mL. That's an extra 130 mL for the same price. That's over 7 times the amount of juice.

The fun and rewarding feeling involved with making it: Priceless.

I wish I could have started sooner but I was a little nervous about working with such high nic concentrations but it was sooo worth it as it stands I can vape for almost a year before I will need more base nic and vg I wish I could open my own shop that would be awsome but as it stands denton has 10 now i think markets a tad bit saturated up here

Just made a 30 ml bottle of my favorite coffee flavor and according to my calculator it cost me $2.33 for all the ingredients, not counting the bottle lol. I imagine some of the ejuice makers who got started when this business was in it's infancy are now filthy rich. I know that in my 5+ years of vaping I've spent mega $$$ and a lot of that was on juice that was so terrible I ended up pouring it down the drain.

Edit: That price does not include shipping charges but since I usually make large orders I would guess the shipping charges shouldn't add more than about 20-25% at most, probably less.

I usually buy 30ml bottles of juice at about 20$ a pop, and vape about1-1/2 of those per week. I figured DIY is so far costing about 2.25$ for a 30ml. Theoretically my juice budget could be 3$ +or- per week. I'm still a newb to DIY so we'll see how that turns out... Kanthal and cotton, pennies.

In theory quite a bit. I'm making 30ml of juice for under $2.00 but I bought a liter of 100mg/ml Nic, a gallon each of PG & VG plus over 60 flavors. Probably close to $300.00 in supplies. If I quit buying flavors I'll be saving big, like that's going to happen

I'm not complaining, it's a lot of fun and I have enough supplies to make juice for years. :toast:

Cheers,
Steve

Outside of $ savings, protecting my personal freedom and liberty is priceless. I've pretty much stopped worrying about regs. I have a 5+ year insurance policy sitting at 0F in my basement.

I like my juice better than anything i've bought. Another priceless bonus is knowing exactly what's in my juice. No worries about ingredients.

It takes less than an hour to make a 2 month supply. Never a worry about having great juice to vape.

I didn't start vaping to save money. I did it to save my health. The low cost of diy is a bonus check. The satisfaction and enjoyment of being in total control is awesome. I owe this forum endless thanks for the helpful folks willing to share.

.....If we could only be happy with the flavors we already have, potentially we could save big!

The other day I posted this in another thread, and I'll echo it here:

I'm just starting to get into DIY and made my first purchases this past weekend. I spent about $270 for nic base, labware, PG, VG, and a bunch of flavorings. The total volume of everything works out to about 8400 ml, so if I dumped everything into a bucket, mixed it, and steeped it, that would be about three cents per ml.

Even accounting for 10% waste, it would still be about 3.5 cents per ml.

My local shop without the discount is .67 a ml. Without buying in bulk I get about .15 a ml. I vape 5ml on a good day and the wife 3.

Before ya'll run out and start a business, check the price on product liability insurance.

This is why I'll never gripe about what premium ejuice goes for at the B&M or on line vendors for that matter. there is a lot more to the retail cost of stuff than most people would ever imagine. And basically to save the bucks on DIY'ing, you have to lay out a bunch of cash in advance for ingredients and incidentals. And DIY'ers don't have overhead like lab space, insurance, utilities, marketing costs etc...
