Hey all, just strating to really get into this vaping! Im wondering what everyone has spent, what you bought & why, and over what period of time? Im not even a week into it, and starting to get worried about the cost.

So far I have bought :

Original electronic cigarette m401 starter kit - $70. Bought it about 2-3 years ago, and didnt really get into it.

Then this week, my buddy shows me his set up (dunno what it is, but its huge, and holds A LOT of juice. he let me take a puff off it, and I was instantly sold! Not wanting to wait, I went to the local headshop, and ended up with

e go c starter kit. - $90
a bottle of usa mix 18mg tobacco e-liquid - $20

I loved it imediatly! waaay better flavor and vapor than the old set up... now I'm off the butts for 4 days, without even a thought.

so I did some online shoppping, and decided I want to make my own liquid...

250ml of 100% vg 36mg nic unflavored.- $19
120ml of pg, - $6
and some flavoring $10

Did some more reading, and Oh.. I gots to have one of those twist 1000mah batteries - $25
and oooo look at the vivi nova 2.5 ml cartomizer with 3 relacement heads... $10

add about $10 in shipping, and I'm up to $190 just this week! I know things will even out once I find the "perfect" set up, but dang... this is an expensive hobby! lol The wife is starting to regret forcably "asking" me to quit smoking. I used to spend between $200-250/mo on the stinky butts. So I guess as long as I can make it a whole month without one smoke, she wont complain. I just hope everything I have ordered will be woth the investment.

So what ya'll got invested into this hobby? And has it been worth it?

When I smoked, and they raised the prices, I kept smoking. When I lost my lighter, I grabbed a few extra at 7-11 and kept on going. I never sat down and said I spent this much last week or I will spend this much next week on my smoking...I just spent it.

When I joined the Gym last year (and have gone a whole 4 times), I picked up head phones, gym bag, running shoes (even thought I run like a wounded hippo), gym cloths and all that stuff...because I'm worth it...and never questioned how much I was spending.

After I started Vapeing I questioned the pork out of every purchase....do I really need that? WOW that order is $75...that’s a lot of money..yep sure is about 1 1/2 cartons of smokes worth.

In the beginning, like any thing else, I tended to spend more just because I was trying new things. So even something like a new mod meant also buying some batteries that I did not have and maybe a charge for the new size batteries...and that raised the cost more than it does now since I already have the batteries and charger.

Id say I dropped about a grand in the last year. but I am a gadget freak, I like new toys. I also drop and break stuff all the time...I'm clumsy and just accept it and reorder. I also was a chain smoker...3+ packs a day so a grand in 1 year compared to my analog habit is nothing. I set up a spread sheet this year to track my purchases...so in a few months I might have a better answer for you.

Relax enjoy... and don’t forget there are some other benefits to vapeing over analog..then smell, some studies suggest its better for us than analogs...I feel better now...I don’t burn my cloths, car seat and my wife says she is happier with me vapeing than smoking. So the money is not the only part of the equation.

You can see what I would have spent on analogs in my sig, and below it, you can see what I've spent, as well as the hardware I have purchased. After a little more than a year and 3 months, I've saved almost half of what I would have spent on analogs...and my total vaping expenses also include two kits (plus juice) I purchased as gifts for friends.

Is it worth it? Of course!!! I feel better, smell better, taste better and breathe better. What's more, my doctor and insurance company tell me I'm a NON-SMOKER! Finally!!! :)

Hang in there...the initial expenses can be hefty, but once you find your setup, you're good to go, and the savings will begin. ;)

NO REGRETS! :D

Started vaping 4/5/2012 (I bought my first e-cig roughly a month after quitting), so 10 months-ish total.

I've also kept very strict records of all my spending on a spreadsheet with the direct goal of never exceeding my savings amount. Hasn't happened yet (though its closer than I'd like).

PV - Total: $295.90
  1. SD Keyring - $21.99
  2. JT eGo-T 650 PT - $21.99
  3. JT eGo-C 650 Twist - $20.99
  4. - JT Rapid Charger - $7.99
  5. JT eGo-C 1000 Twist - $23.99
  6. Provari Satin Black Blem - $160.00
  7. - 18490 AW IMR Li-Ion x2 - $22.00
  8. - Tenergy Li-Ion Charger - $16.95
  9. CVI V1 possibly in the future
  10. Caravela in the future

While I still really enjoy my eGos, having 3 of them is overkill at this point. Thinking of donating one or two to a buddy who is showing interest. Sadly the SDK hardly gets used any more as I really don't like cartos (though its excellent at stealth). May get a vision nano for it. Looking at getting another li-ion charger and using the Tenergy as a backup.

Spent a lot of time trying to figure out what delivery system I liked best. Could've cut out a lot of spending here TBH, as I don't like anything but RBA any more and would've been able to handle it earlier on. But played it safe and waited until I was super comfortable with PVs. The SDK came with 2 'prefilled' cartos that I used initially.

Delivery Systems - Total: $152.81
  1. SDK Incl. Cartos
  2. ST Dual Coil Cartomizer - $3.29
  3. Boge 510 (box of 5) - $7.99
  4. Askton Hughes MK-I Cartomizer x2- $5.00
  5. Vision Clearomizer (CE4) x2 - $8.98
  6. Vision Clearomizer (CE4) x2 - $9.98
  7. Smok ReDux Clearomizer (CE5) - $5.99
  8. -Replacement Heads x2 - $3.98
  9. Vivi Nova 2.5 - $13.99
  10. -Replacement Heads x2 - $5.98
  11. -Metal Tank - $3.99
  12. A7 RBA x2 - $16.36
  13. AGA-T RBA - $24.99
  14. - Aunt Lydia's Bamboo #10 - $2.68
  15. - SS Mesh #500 3" * 3" - $7.50
  16. - SS Mesh #400 6" * 6" - $5.99
  17. - Kanthal A 30awg 100' - $5.95
  18. - .999 Silver Wire 30awg 50' - $12.22
  19. - Kanthal A-1 32awg 100' - $7.95

Pretty much everything above the A7s sit dormant now as backups.

I won't even bother with juice as I still don't have one I've settled on as a 'must have' and keep experimenting. Last year I spent $169.10 on liquid though.

I did just buy a small grip of DIY supplies however.

DIY Supplies & Equipment - Total: $44.34
  1. Peach - $1.49
  2. Champagne - $1.49
  3. Bubblegum - $1.49
  4. Tobacco Absolute - $1.49
  5. Graham Cracker Crust - $1.49
  6. Banana - $3.99
  7. Orange - $3.99
  8. 120mL 60mg PG/VG Nicotine Base - $11.39
  9. 60 mL PG - $1.99
  10. 60 mL VG - $1.99
  11. 5 mL Syringes x2 - $1.18
  12. - Blunt Tip Needles 14ga x2 - $1.30
  13. 25 mL Bomex Graduated Cylinder - $3.79
  14. Boston Round Amber Glass Bottles (15, 30, 60 & 120 mL) - $7.26
  15. EZ-Sweetz Sampler - $0.01

Shipping though, has gotten me for a total of $111.58. Costly with having to use it all the time (nothing close to a B&M locally though, no option unless I want cheapos like the Krave).

I thought I had bought some useless stuff but turns out the only thing I can really fault is having bought two eGo lanyards instead of one. Oh and I definitely don't need 50' of .999 silver wire (but I know people into crafts who can use it).

Total Total though is $617.81, while my rough calculations have me saving $980 up to today.

So vaping has still saved me roughly $362.19

Not to mention the health savings haha

I've only been vaping for two months, and while I still haven't quit, I've cut down my smoking by 80% and feel that I'll quit within a week or so.

-KGO Starter Kit ~$50
-Various samples of juice ~$30

And then this week I got a little more serious.

-2 Ego-C Batts ~$50
-10 Bottles of juice from my local shop ~$60
-Anyvape CVI + Batteries & Charger (Still waiting for it) ~$80
-4 30ml bottles of juice from Mt. Baker ~$30

And then my guess on Vivi Nova + Carto's would be around $40.

About $340 so far. But I think I've got the setup I need and enough juice to last awhile. I think I'll slow down the spending for the time being. No regrets though, I'm 100% confident I'll be kicking analog's soon completely thanks to vaping.

More than I thought I would...and it has definitely been worth it. I'm on my 3rd setup in a month and my first 510 kit will most likely collect dust in my closet unless I give it away to anyone remotely curious about e-cigs. My ego-c twist still go out with me when I need something more stealthy on nights out, but my vari is with my all day otherwise. I have tons of juice and all sorts of clearos, cartomizers, tanks, and a now a few rebuildables. I think its all part of finding what works for you and for me the cost is nothing since it helped me quit the analogs. No more buying cigs and newly single so I definitely have some spare cash haha. I figure its an investment in my health and I needed a new hobby anyway.

I spent $279 dollars on my first day of vaping.

I bought.
1 ego-t 2Battery kit with 2 CE-5 clearos.
1 Vamo VV
3 DCT tank cartos
3 10ml bottles of 24 mg Juice.
2 cool drip tips.
1 lanyard for the Vamo.

4 days later i went back to my local shop and picked up 20 mls more juice
1 more 5 ml tank
1 3.5 ml tank
2 5 packs replacement cartos for my tanks
1 vivi nova v10

That was $80.

2 days ago I ordered a bunch of new juice. $70

I am totally happy with the money I've spent. Cartons are about $75 a piece and I was smoking near 1 a week.

It seems to me that once you get the gear you like down, the rest is Juice and some minor supplies. I still have half the juice from my first trip a few weeks ago. Which means this is going to be much cheaper in the long run. When my juice order comes in I should have enough to last me for months. I don't like most of the sweets & candy flavours. In fact I'm kinda liking unflavoured the most these days.

The only big problem I can see is that there are so many cool ... Mods I want to buy.

I love cool shiny toys.

Hi. I'm a new vaper too who is quickly coming up on 1 month smoke free. At one point I gathered all my receipts for ecig hardware, juices, cartridges and other goodies. Without actually adding each item on a calculator it became obvious I was way over $200 which scared me so I threw away the receipts and tried to forget the shock I had upon seeing all those numbers. Well after visiting the new FSU store in Holland, MI today I think I can safely say I'm getting close to about $400 in about a month and a half of vaping.

Now I don't want people to be too scared to try vaping based on my high numbers so I'll give a very abbreviated version of why I've spent so much in such a short timespan. My original ecigs I started with were real good, but they were pricey compared to the cheapy starter kits that can be bought. Then I bought a couple more of thier expensive batteries so I could have 4 batteries ready to go if I was away from a charger for an extended period of time. Oh, then an extra charger just in case the first one broke (I don't ever want to be unable to vape and possibly be tempted to smoke logs to get me by). I've really gotten bit by the sweet flavored juice bug so I've got around 25 bottles of juice ranging from sample size up to 120 ML size. Realistically I have enough juice now that I probably could get away with not buying anymore juice for the next 6 weeks or more so I really have gone overboard on juice purchases. Then today at the FSU store I visited I spent $115 on a new complete vaping system that is in my opinion much superior to the ecig system I'd previously purchased.

Do I regret spending all that money? Nope. For the first time in over 30 years I can breath deeply without a rattling sound coming from my chest that is loud enough that people near me could hear and would comment on. For anyone considering trying vaping I freely admit I've gone overboard on spending and most peoples first month of vaping will probably much much less than what I've spent. Now that I'm set up with a great vaping system and know which flavors I like and am past the experimenting phase I'm expecting to spend $150 a month or less which is way cheaper than it would cost me to smoke logs.

$90 for an ego-c kit is quite steep tbh.

I spent maybe close to $200.

My 1300mah vision spinner = $24
Kanger t3 = $5
Liquids = $60
Plus miscellaneous stuff.

Was it a waste. Of course not. Though i dropped my vision spinner today and it broke. Sucks...but i have a backup ego battery and i guess this is a good excuse for me to buy a good mod.

Looking at the vamo v2 or the lavatube 2.0

I spent over 400$. But love vaping. I smoke over a pack of cig a day prior to vaping. Probably counting the juice cost it will take about 4months to cover the cost of that to buying cigs.

I been vaping for about 3 weeks now have no disire to smoke. I have smoke maybe 10 cigs the past 2 weeks that cuz of peer pressure of friends still smoking. Hhehe

I started with a ego vv LCD then tried a provari and got that after. I am starting to get into mods/rebuildables now. I guess it's starting to be a hobby to me now.

Well I have actually spent $260.00 less than if I was smoking with the price of cigarettes here. I started with a cigarette like kit and ordered extra juice and a battery for it before I found ECF and found all the great information here. The actual difference in my signature is because I continued to smoke a carton I had bought just before getting my first kit. Still have 5 packs in the freezer - just in case

Since then I have added 2 eGo 650 mAh Twists, 1 1000 mAh Twist and have tried the Kanger horizontal coil cartomizers, CE4 (stardusts), Kanger T2, Kanger T3 and Vivi Nova. I just ordered a 900 mAh Twist (because it was purple :)), a Kanger MT3 (because it was purple), a Mini Vivi Nova and a backup charger.

I have probably ordered over 150 mls of different e-juice - so I still have enough to last a few more weeks at least. I think with 4 batteries and a backup charger - I should be pretty good with just ordering juice and possibly more clearomizers, once I figure out which ones work best for me. As of right now I am liking my Vivi Nova - although I didn't at first. Not having any real issues with the T2 or T3 - although I have had both leak some - but I think they really were user issues.

Overall - I am thinking this is really great - given that I only decided to try vaping to see if it could help me cut down. I never actually had any intention of quiting.

It has been a journey - and I am sure it is not over yet. I still don't think my taste buds have revovered from smoking and I do find that my tastes for the juice continue do change - or even disappear at times. I have had days when nothing tastes good - or only one juice tastes good for days. Then I don't like it at all.

Still the best decision I every made to try that first e-cigarette and while some would say it was a waste of a few hundred dollars - I still view it as part of the process that got me to where I am today YMMV ;)
