Newbie alert! I bought some juice and want to fill a pre-used carto (until I get my unfilled cartos). How much do you drop into the carto? I want it to last the day, I don't want to fill everytime I vape. If there is already a thread on this, or video, could someone point me in the right direction? TIA

Depends on the carto, usually normal ones get 1ml inside more or less anyway 20 drops is what I use to refill a carto on my V2 KR808d-1 batteries, you don't want the darn thing dripping or the batteries will be damaged
You'll have to look up info on your specific carto. Some hold around 1ml of juice while the larger XL sized ones can hold 2ml or even more. You can try taking a new carto and dripping drops down the sides into the polyfill till it stops absorbing the juice, count how many you dropped and you have an idea of how much it takes to fill your cartos.
I guess it would really depend on how much juice is still in there, or if it's just been cleaned and dried, and how much juice your cartos hold (mine hold a full 1ml). Here's how I refill cartos that I've used during the day:
• At the end of my day, I condom fill all 4-5 of them. Fill the condom up about 80%, then dunk in the battery end. I like to see just be a minimal amount of pooling up on top. Drop in more if they still look dry. Then I let it sit like that overnight.
• The following day, I pull the condoms out about halfway, flick them like thermometers about 10 times, and wipe down the posts. What's left in the condoms is how much you've overfilled, and you can adjust how much you drop into the condoms accordingly. Or you can keep doing it the same way, and use the remaining juice for your next fill or pour it back into the bottle (haha, which I'm too lazy to do. I usually just keep it in there for the next fill.). No need to worry about the juice evaporating. I think the PG does a good job of keeping this from happening. I had a little juice in a condom for over a week (ick, didn't use it) and I swear, I don't think it ever evaporates. No need to worry about overfilling either. The flicking takes care of that.
If you want them to last all day, I think the trick is to let it sit with ample juice for as long as you can, so that the filler has time to really get saturated. The thicker your juice (i.e., the more VG it has), the longer this takes. Also, in my experience, refilleds never really last quite as long as prefilleds, especially when the carto gets really old. That's why I fill them the night before, and carry more than one...but I vape like a chimney too, which is why I go through 4-5...

A carto won't last most vapers all day. I use the condom method and top off twice an hour with two or three drops each time. For an all day trouble free supply, condom fill 3 or 4 1ml cartos and leave them overnight. Take them out of the condoms, clean them up, blow out the air tubes, and put fresh condoms on the next morning.
Or, you could use one of the tank-carto mods and vape all day on a fill.

Hard to say on a used carto .. I would insert a toothpick in the hole on the threaded end, stand the thing up by inserting in a block of foam or what not and drip 10 drops at a time into it, waiting a minute or two and doing it again until the carto won't absorb any more .. then, remove toothpick and blow out the excess into a paper towel ..
Doubtful it will last a day unless you are a light user ..

These hold nearly 2ml of juice or 50-60 drops when dry filled.
If you try to vape the full capacity of 2ml off these cartomizers I guarantee you will burn them. To make the cartos last as long as possible I vape off no more than about 1/2 of the juice capacity (about 25 drops maximum) before refilling.

A 510 XL carto measures 45mm in length. Length measurement of cartos does not include the atomizer base section.

Here's a carto filling vid. If going out for the day fill a few, put the condoms back on them and store them in an empty Tic Tacs box. It holds about 5 cartos.

That's one of the best video's I've seen on how to fill.
What I was missing the first times (until I saw that video) was that I filled MUCH too quickly and didn't get the filler saturated enough. I use Johnson Creek Read Oak which is 100% VG so it's very thick and takes longer to saturate the filler than juice with PG in it.
Using that method, I've had nothing but excellent results.
I use the condom method the first time I fill them. After that I drip into the carto until it looks like a 'slushie'. I always put the white cap back on and then blow into the carto onto a paper towel, so if I overfilled it any, I'm blowing the excess into the paper towel.
LOLLL I was also pushing the carto down too fast. Once I began SLOWLY pushing it was magic and, like you, have had excellent results. What amazed me was the amount of juice these cartos took...

Excellent - thank you everyone. Now I understand the condom method and really appreciate the video! I tried with a used v-2 red carto and at first the taste was the same, then a new taste came through. Very cool. Now I think I need to try more flavors, I have a vanilla and just regular tobacco that I bought at Vermillion - a little pricy!!! BUT, I ordered it Friday night and it arrived today in the mail - great service! What is the average cost of a bottle of juice?
If you are refilling one that you have used and not cleaned yet, the easiest way I have found is to stand it up on your finger with a paper towel under the threads and drip it in until a drop comes out onto the paper towel. Then it s full and you can blow into it to get any out of the middle, recap it and you are ready to go.
I guess I'm not sure how to clean them. Since I'm using the V-2 red used cartos, they were dry and I blew out both ends before I filled with juice. I read somewhere on the site that there is a method to cleaning used cartos, but I have yet to find that thread.
I just take off the white cap and run hot water in it then blow it out and repeat

I set mine in boiled water from the microwave for 3x five minutes works good for me. My flavors are all sort of the same tho.
Thanks for the video. I kept reading about the condom method, didn't know what it was, and frankly was afraid to ask. Sometimes, it's better not to know, but in this case, I'm glad I learned the technique. I have some Boge's on order and when they arrive, I'll try this.
