I was a 15 yr smoker 2-3 packs a day average. I have been vaping for 2.5 yrs and I have only noticed a small increase in taste sensitivity. If you are not tasting your ejuice you should try DIY recipes to crank up the taste yourself or experiment with other ejuices in small quantities until you find the right one:) There's a world of juices out there go my friend and explore! :p

The amount of time it takes for your tastebuds to awaken varies with the individual and it's not a sudden thing, at least in my experience. I noticed a very small difference after a few days, after 2 weeks it was more pronounced. After a few months it was quite a bit better. My sense of smell followed the same pattern and also improved. I never knew what I was missing as a smoker.

You can always try ordering your juice with extra flavor if you're having trouble tasting it. I know I had problems at first with taste, so I ordered all of mine with extra flavor :) At some point I noticed the flavors became too strong/sweet for me, so then I just started ordering without the extra flavor and now they're perfect for me.

Now smell!!! Thats a whole other story! My smell is better than a southern bloodhound sniffing for wild hogz:) Hallelujah!!!!
BTW taste is about 25% or more smell:)

I'd rather lose my sense of taste than my sense of smell.

Back on topic, my tastebuds started perking up around the 3rd week or so. I revisited liquids and flavors I didn't like before and found myself liking a couple of them very well - and a couple that I had originally liked started tasting no so great to me. After about 6 or 7 weeks, I could taste a lot of things much better, and that isn't perhaps a good thing for someone like me. Thank the stars for 0 nic sweet flavors I can marathon vape!!

Everyone will be a little different, and too, your liquid may not be as strong as some others in flavorings. Experimentation will be ongoing. :)

It's pretty hard to over power the nicotine "flavor", need strong flavorings to do that. People who use low nicotine seem to be able to get MORE taste. People who use higher end vapers seem to be able to pull more flavor as well. There are very little in way of standards for ecigs devices, length of heating, temperature, etc. so it can be hit and miss getting flavorings right for any on specific vaping device. It's trial and error sometimes/mostly, until you hit one that seems to work well for you.

Regaining sense of taste after quitting smoking, has some variability for different people. In general, it may take up to 3 months to get maximum recovery of taste buds, to the point where you are able to discern minute/small taste variances. That's the same for smell as well ... as is the case for most other things. HOWEVER, most people notice significant changes in as little as 24 hrs, primarily do to higher oxygen availability and of course some of the tobacco "artifacts" being cleaned up. Note: most sensations, taste, smell, etc. also have an effect on dopamine levels, which registers pleasure as well. When you are using nicotine, your dopamine system is comprised so the full effect of smell, taste, etc. will still not be there ... but still a hell-a-lot better. Nicotine use causes constriction of blood vessels as well which will slow down recovery somewhat, but it will still recover, just a little slower at first.

The biggest day to day effect of smoking, is lower oxygen levels. This returns to normal within 8 hours and definitely fully returned within 24 hours. That change alone will improve smell, taste significantly. Turns out oxygen is a good thing :).

I Just started vaping today and i was a 8 years old smoker but ive notice that i don't taste the e liquid as much as i should ? But i saw on this forum that your taste buds comeback to normal after a certain amount of time by vaping and not smoking soo i want to know how much time is it?

I've only been vaping for a week, and I swear I can already tell a difference in favors getting stronger. I wish there was an easy way to sample all kinds of the liquids and not spend hundreds of dollars.

That is where your local shop comes into play. Many have a bar for trying juices.

I noticed my taste started change after a week. Suddenly the coffee at work that folks always complained about and it didn't bother me. Now it tastes horrible to me too.

I quit smoking (without assistance from NRT) for a period of 7 years. I never noticed any change in taste or smell. I learned the power of addiction when taking one drag from a friend's cigarette, and we back into the habit within a matter of days. Now trying to quit again with the help of vaping, but I have no expectations of having some wonderful taste breakthru - just didn't happen for me before, but the health benefits alone are worth it.

In addition to what others have mentioned - if you vape too much, you can lose your sense of taste for a bit, too. Make sure you drink a lot more water.

When I think back about it, on days when I would smoke cigs heavily, I couldn't really taste my cigs or they sometimes even tasted awful and I continued to smoke them.

I have trouble tasting juices like I'd expect... I used to vape, smoked again, and now solely vape... Highbrow vapor will let you add extra flavor/throat hit, whatever you want. :) I've got a bottle of their beloved RY4 on the way, to which I've requested they add extra flavor. I've never tried the original blend, but most things seem to be watered down from other companies, in my opinion. Can't wait till it comes!

Unfortunately the only local shop within about 1000 miles of my house will let you sample, but it's a mall store. They charge a whopping $20/10ml, and only offer 18mg strength.
