How often have you had cold/flu since you started vaping?

I'm very curious to know others' experiences on this. I have been blessed all my life with the fortune of good health, but things seem even better for me in the last 4 and a half years since I have been vaping, and I'm 43 years old. I don't really remember the last time I had a cold or the flu, but it must have been around 5, 5 and a half years ago. I have experienced all the benefits of vaping like the disappearance of the constant (particularly morning) hack, return of stamina, better breathing than I have had in 20 years, heightened taste/smell, etc.

I get exposed to things in public just like everyone else, and my wife still routinely gets upper respiratory bugs. I never take flu shots. I don't get sick. I have read that research has been done (going back to the 1930s I think) that PG has germicidal properties. I wonder if this actually helps. I suppose another factor could be that just eliminating the tobacco chemicals may have as dramatic an effect on one's immune system as it does on the lungs and the senses.

Anyone else had a similar experience? I hope it's not just me, I would love to hear that this is common. I keep seeing anti-vaping articles describing things that are so NOT my experience so far, and I don't recall seeing any that study what I'm wondering about here. So what about it? Does it feel like vaping has actually helped you to be healthier overall?

While I was smoking, I enjoyed a hefty bout of bronchitis almost every year, as well as frequent colds and, for the last 20+ years, frequent debilitating attacks of sinusitis. In the year and a half of vaping, the expected two episodes of bronchitis did not happen, nary a cold, and no incidents of sinusitis. Consequences of allergies have been greatly reduced.

Coincidence? I think not....

I've been relatively healthy my whole life (42 yrs. old). I have gotten colds but nothing that has kept me in bed for days at a time, Nyquil was a good friend every winter. One good night of sleep and I was usually up and about. I did however have my very first case of bronchitis in October, before I started vaping. That scared the begebes out of me. I started vaping in January, so I have to wait awhile before I can say it has helped me not get sick. As for the rest I concur. I am breathing better, have more energy, and the smells wow. Some I wish I didn't smell, but others are great. LOL

I have a whole list of other medical issues but since I started vaping........no colds. I'm not sure 100% but I think it is helping with my spring allergies too. There are so many benefits I have found with vaping. The number one reason is I have found so many wonderful people of ecf that I now call my friends. :)

I still got my obligatory cold this season. But I work in a physical rehab center where all sorts of cold/flu's make their way through. And I have a daughter in middle school and a son in elementary school that bring home various bugs. Have fared better since vaping though. Nothing some airborne, cough drops, pseudo, and puffs with aloe couldn't handle. Honest to god....I think the cold meds make me feel more out of it than the colds themselves.

Now that I think about it, no?!?! I am sure there were a few sniffles but not the bedridden colds I have suffered from on a semi-annual basis. I used to be able to set my clock by the cold/allergy seasons. It has been murderous with the pollen counts lately and I haven't even had a major sneeze. Thanks for helping me recognize another thing I don't have to worry about by vaping!

I must be an exception to the rule. Since I began vaping in November last year I've been quite ill. Do I think it's because of the vaping? Nope. Not sure what it is, but I've been sick as a dog recently.

Bouts of various things just keep coming at me. Stomach bugs that have circulated between me, my partner and her son. I've had a couple of bouts of cold and one bout of flu.

I think it's completely unrelated, and once I get over this latest batch of "lets be ill on your time off from work" I reckon I'll start feeling the health benefits.

What freaks me out is tank cleanliness. I worry about buildup of bacteria in the mouthpiece and tank. I thoroughly clean it after every other refill normally, but it is a concern long term. I refuse to let anyone use my PV either - not even my other half, I've got spare tanks if she wants a night off the smoking!

All in all, whilst I'd love to say my overall health improved since Vaping, it simply hasn't so far, but I DO NOT think the vaping has caused it, it's just a bad co-incidence methinks.

My breathing is better, generally, and once my lungs cleared (which doesn't feel 100% done yet) I noticed a reduction in chest pains from deep inhales. I can manage stairs with more ease and am out of breath far less now. It just the rest that's floored me since the end of last year.

I've been working as a pharmacy tech for 6 years now, and when I was smoking I caught everything! I constantly had a runny nose. Plus every winter I'd get some nasty cold/cough with a fever that kept in bed for a couple days.
Since I started vaping about a year and half a ago, I've rarely been sick (besides a condition I have). I don't even have my constant runny nose. In January, I thought I was coming down with my yearly cold, but I just ended up having a mild cough and being slightly sore for a couple days. Much better than being home sick from work!

I havent been sick either. My friends kid next door has been sick with the flu and a cold as well as her and her husband during past 3 months that i have been vaping. Myself and my family have not caught it. I vape in my house around my family. It might just be keeping us all healthy :) Also at work everyone is dropping off like flies with the flu and i have not caught it. Knock on wood.

My really bad smoker's cough (58 years 2PAD) masked the fact that my seasonal allergies are pretty bad. When they hit last April after 7 months vaping with no cough, I thought that vaping was all of a sudden causing problems. Most of us attribute various problems to vaping because of our inexperience... it takes time to uncover and differentiate other sources as the problem and in the case of seasonal allergies... the season has to hit. Anyway, now its April again and here come the allergies. They will last about 6 months until colder temps here in AZ set in is what I learned last year while vaping. What I've also learned is that I WON'T get the usual bronchitis I always got while smoking and recovering from that will decrease the length of time I have the wheezing (mucous) by two months. And I haven't had a single cold or the flu since I started vaping. I think that's because my immune system isn't additionally taxed from smoking.
