Is there an educational post about coil head lifespan that I missed? I'm just wondering what the indicators are: bad taste, etc.? And I'm unsure of what factors contribute to the 'wear and tear' on them (i.e. the interval between replacements). I'm presuming if you vape at a higher voltage (I have an eGo-C Twist batt), that uses them up faster... but I don't know anything with certainty.

Just looking for pointers from people who have been using clearos for longer than I have. Many thanks for any feedback.

When to change heads or rebuild coils:
1.Bad or burnt taste that cleaning doe not remove.
2. Loss of vapor volume.
3. Coil refuses to glow properly on a dry burn after cleaning and, 5-6 attempts to get it glowing properly again.

Things that determine the life of the coil:
1. Wattage/voltage - higher shortens their life.
2. Resistance, lower does not last as long.
3. juice vaped - sweet or dark kills the coil faster.
4. How much you actually vape - the more you vape, the faster the coil goes bad.

Personally, I can run about a week on a 1.5 to 1.7 ohm coil if I don't get going on my chocolate juice, then about 5-6 hours and it's a goner (that juice is yummy, but it's an atty killer.) I clean after every tank on my Protanks.

Easy, when you can no longer satisfactorily clean the coil/wick, it must be replaced. By cleaning, I mean "returning it to like new condition." Cleaning frequently, and rotating coils helps to extend their life. When the wicks get so carbonized and caramelized that they cannot be returned to like new condition, replace them. Depending on the variables, as outlined by BlueMoods, and others, this could be a day or two, or a month or two, depending on juice and vape. I replace my coils and cartos twice a week. I will not settle for a less than perfect vape. I clean my gear daily. No matter what I spend, it's a tiny fraction of my smoking budget. Me likee! Vape on, my friend! Good luck and congrats on quitting. Best to you!
