The cotton goes mushy after some time, but they taste yuck by then lol. I have used the same juice since I started. I don't have any other as I'm not very experimental. :)

I really want to work it out and enjoy my vaping again. My mouth is sore as I put too much in one and burning juice went in. I do not know what to do, as I said. :(

Do you buy blanks Poppie, or prefilled and refill?

for juice to get hot enough to burn you ...you have to be vaping pretty darn heavy.... how many packs of cigs did you smoke a day? and are you vaping more then you smoked?

I don't vape hard imagine, as I mentioned I had only used 20mls of juice in a few weeks. I think in my attempt to refill to get rid of the burnt taste, I overfilled and it went down the center. Lots of sizzling was going on. Also don't know if this is normal. I'm a noob. Should the top of the filler be so hard?

Sorry, forgot pack a day of ultra lights, and no vaping or smoking ATM. Cold turkey lol.

no filler should be like cotton not adhered to the sides and soft to the poke.. you should also be able to pull it our easily... are these blanks or prefilleds?

how many cartos have you gone through?

I got 1 pack of prefilled with the kit, unopened, and now I've tried about 5 packs of 5 blanks. I can't remember when I started with this problem though. I think my first ones must have been ok otherwise I would have posted I think. I'm sorry to be vauge, but you do go through different symptoms over various days, I can't remember. I have more unopened blanks, but then worried about running out of those as I can't get them here.

If this helps, putting drops in the battery end makes the biggest difference, but doesn't last long.

I would try 1 carto from the prefilled...and vape that and try just topping that off when it gets low...as that would definitly be filled properly... if it turns into burnt taste when being topped off and not letting it run dry..I would have to determine the issue is the liquid.

and see where that takes us

cause 1 pack of blanks can have an off resistance in a rare occasion but all 5 would be really really odd ... it would either be the liquid or your fill method i would say

Thank you cindycated. Yes, I just went and slipped the rubber ends off. They all appear to have yellowish caked layer something similar to what rave posted a picture of. I didn't know if this was normal. I got a 19 gauge today, but the filler was stuck to the sides of the cart. It went through, but there is something sticky making the white cotton hard. Even totally saturated and left for hours, the burnt taste was starting to appear. Shame as I got my passthrough and I love it, but wasted so much juice filling carts that go bad so quickly, I have to slow down. Ordered more, but will not be here for just over a week knock on wood. I started out swell, I never noticed if those carts had this hard film. I am topping up ALL the time. I don't know what to do.
The filler in cartos is just a thin sheet of white cotton/poly batting rolled up like a sleeping bag around the center shaft, so that yellowish caked layer (that's hard enough to snap a needle, right?) doesn't sound right to me. You mentioned that it does soften up eventually (but tastes yuck)? Maybe it's that yellowish stuff dissolving (ick). If this stuff is on brand-new "virgin" cartos that you haven't filled yet (who knows, maybe it is the liquid) I would contact CS...or I would try rinsing them out and letting them dry really well first. Also, are there any signs of extreme moisture anywhere (dunno, never been in Australia)? The fillers have to be completely dry. I poured a couple of drops of non-distilled water in some liquid once and it coagulated a little. Those tiny solid chunks might be enough to block the flow.

And I'm sure you know this, but don't forget to shake the heck out of the bottle before filling! :)

I have found that different liquids react in different manners to Volt cartos. I love Smokeless Image's RY4, Johnson Creek's Tennesee Cured, and also a bunch of random samples. I find the RY4's consistency to be the bet for my volts, and the cartos take me between 1-4 weeks before they start tasting burnt or generally bad. However, the Tennessee cured will usually cause a burning flavor after 1-4 days in my cartos. I suspect that the flavoring and thickness of the liquid has A LOT to do with this. I keep the carto full, but still get the burnt taste, so I don't think it is due to being too dry. I also find that once the carto does get too dry, and if it burns, then it is pretty much impossible to get the burnt taste out, and I throw them away.

They have the hard film (more pale grey maybe, or dark white now I look really hard, sorry I'm tired) when I've opened them fresh from the foil pack. I tried rinsing, didn't work, boiling water run through them seemed to make it go harder, at least while wet. Opened various carts from over 6 that I received, and they all have it. Contacted CS and they are helping.

I can try for a photo soon imagine. In bed not well now, worn out trying to get things working. I might just continue working with CS, but I don't have any carts to vape with, only these where they are stuck to the side walls in parts, and with the hard film, but I can break through with the 19 gauge needle. Should I just keep doing this? I really don't know what to do, and trying to stop myself reaching for a cigarette. :(

So sorry you're having to go through this. I don't think I've ever heard of this before. Lucky you, huh? :(
Maybe just stick to your prefilleds for now, until you can get it worked out. You can Taryn spin the liquid out and refill with your EcoPure maybe...hang in there.
Try soaking one in hot water overnight too, just to see. If you can make it go away and get the filler soft and fluffy, maybe it'll help get you by until a solution comes...
Bummer! Not a good first experience!
Or maybe reach out to the other Aussie Volties? Megabee, Reptilr...maybe they can help you out in the meantime...

Like cindycated said, that's a weird one...wish Rave would come back as she had that pic, maybe she remembered something else that could help.

Like I said, been using the same SI cart with the eco-pure since Sept, and it's still fluffy white (well, maybe a little yellowish)....and going strong. Only recently started using the syrige method (REALLY LIKE it BTW) for filling new cartos, but no issues like yours, and since my eco-pure is in the same carto It started with back in Sept, just a few drops here and there every so often sems to suffice.
So sorry I can't be of more help!
