First of all please do not post to this thread till i am done!!!........ I would like to say that the batteries do fit tight in the lighter and you will need to take off flint wheel to push them out of the lighter from the top when they go bad. And the little tach switch does not hold up well it will go bad. Was thinking of using a switch out of a 510 body it would work better.

Start with an empty lighter, Take off the metal top of lighter and then the flint wheel pry out the gas button, pull out the brass gas valve on the top. On the bottom of the lighter (the white part ) with a 3/16 drill bit drill three holes start in middle then the sides. Use a hot knife to cut out all the white bottom part as close as you can get it to the lighter body sides. ( I used a bernzOmatic torch and a X-ACTO knife as a hot knife to cut the plastic) Then on top i drilled out the flint spring and gas valve holes/holders with a x-acto knife chisel type tip i cut out all inside plastic (watch out you don't cut a hole through the body) Then i used a round file to clean up the in side of the lighter.

Once you get the batteries to fit in the lighter then you can start to mod the parts. The batteries. I used two 10440 350mah with no tabs, Hot glued them together side by side do not use a lot of glue on one side so you have room for the ground wire to come up the middle of the batteries to the top of the lighter. I cut a small thin brass plate to fit on bottom of batteries solderd ground wire to it, and used that new solderless glue to glue my brass plate to bottom of the batteries. On the top of the battery i striped a wire back like 1 1/2 inchs put it through the holes on the battery buttons and twisted it tight then used soldering glue.

The metal cover on top needs to be filed or grinded out so the atty will fit with extra room. it is u shaped and you will need to cut it all way to the sides so there no top part left, then sand with fine sandpaper. The red gas botton needs to be cut just in front of where the mounts to the lighter(do not cut the mounting pins/tabs off) and clean up cut with file. On the bottom of the red bottom where the red plastic comes through the metal i put some hot glue to make it flat for the switch. And the flint wheel needs to be ground down flat on one side all the way to where it mounts to the lighter down to the mounting pins/tabs
