Hey all, i have been trying to find a video, or any other source on how to clean the gunk off of blackened Ti wire. I am using the Joytech eGo ONE CLR Ti re wickable /rebuildable heads and would like to know how to clean the buildup on the coil after removing the cotton. After about 2 weeks on one head, the cotton is very dark, to burnt, but no burnt taste. The coils have a black buildup on them and i would like to get it off. I use a 90-95% VG juice. I am going to order the 85% or maybe the 70% this week, but that's a different story.

can someone point me to a how to on cleaning these coils? Did i use the coil to long without re wicking them? I have no idea. I have cotton, that's not a problem. Some pointers would be great because i did buy these for the re wickable option to save some $$.

Thanks in advance, you all are very helpful folks.

Hi Harryinny.

You didn't do Anything wrong. As you use a Coil, any Coil, it will build up "Gunk".

Replacing the Cotton can marginally Extend the life of a Coil. But many just run the Coil until it Starts to Taste Bad or the Vapor Production starts to Fall Off and then they Replace both the Wick and the Coil.

Here is a Pretty Good video that shows how you would go about it...

You can take the Cotton out of the Coil leaving the Coil attached to the CLR Head, Rinse it out in Warm Water, and the "Dry Burn" it and the Re-Wick It. But there is Controversy involving Dry Burning Titanium. So I am not going to Say you Should or Shouldn't do this.

See, thats what i am trying to find out, how to dry burn. I know the Ti will form an ash, but it can be cleaned off. I just do not know how a dry burn is done(new to this) with a TC mod. I am guessing, its done at 600F at ?? wattage, something like a quick push of the button, or pulse? This can be done a few times (not one after another) to burn the gunk off? I as going to try Ni200 coils but heard much worse warnings on using Ni as a material. I am hoping to be able to do something seeing atm i can not afford to buy the coil jig(one that you use like a ram that after you wrap the wire, you spread out the coil and bring the 2 pieces of the jig together to make a perfect spaced coil. Stuff like that. Should i be watching the cotton more and changing it more offten as to keep the coil from gunking up so much?

I bought these heads and cotton to save money, Using a credit card these days is not a great idea since PayPal wont let merchants use their service, unless i use a Paypal debit/credit card.

OK. If you want to do a "Dry Burn", here is How I Do It.

1 - Remove the CLR Head for Atomizer Base.

2 - Rinse the CLR Head under Warm Tap Water.

3 - Remove the Wick but leave the Coil in place.

4 - Rinse the CLR Head/Coil again.

5 - Shake/Blow Out and Excess Water.

6 - Screw the CLR Head into the Atomizer Base. Leave the Top Piece that screws onto the Top of the CLR Head off.

7 - Set you Mod to VW Mode. Then set the Watts to a Low Setting. Something like 5 ~ 7 Watts.

8 - Push the Power Button for about 3 Seconds then Let Off on the power. The Coil might Crackle and a Little Smoke might come Off the Coil.

9 - Wait a Second or Two and then give the Power another 3 Second Pulse.

10 - Repeat this 3 Seconds On/Short Pause until one of 2 things happen. One, No More Smoke Comes off the Coil. Or Two, the Coil starts to glow Slightly Red.

Once No More Smoke comes off the Coil, and the Coil starts to change to an Red Color, the Dry Burn is Done. And you are Not going to get any more Benefit from Heating the Coil till it is an Angry Orange Color. You are just Wearing Out the Coil at that Point. And are Risking Melting the Silicone Insulator at the Base of the CLR Head.

11 - Gently Flake off any Large Chunks of Ash that maybe attached to the Coil Wire with a Needle or a Pointy pair of Tweezers.

12 - Rinse the Coil under Warm Water again. And Shake/Blow out any Water.

13 - Re-Wick with Cotton.

---

The First couple of Hits off a newly Dry Burned Coil can have a Slightly Burnt Taste. So I don't Inhale them. But after a Couple of Hits, you should be Back to Pretty Much Normal.

Thanks so much, i will copy and paste your information on a word document.
Also, thanks for the video link, it is one i have set as a favorite since i decided to buy my mod and those heads.

Thank you again.
Harry

No Problem Harry.

Like I said. The Key is to take it Slow. And to Not just Mash the Power Button down and turn the Coil into a Mini Tanning Booth. The Coil will Break if you leave the Power on for Too Long. And the Heat can Build up and Melt Seals.

Just keep giving the Coil Brief Pulses until No More Smoke comes off the Coil, and it starts to get Briefly Red, and you'll be Good to Go.
