... Before you know it your knowledge base has been built up so you don’t have to work so hard taking on new stuff.

The Same goes for Tools.

I Always subscribed to the thought that even if I spent the Same amount of Money on Tools to do a project as I would Pay to have someone Else do it, that it was OK. Because then I would have the Tools for the Next time.

So over the Years you acquire all kinds of Tools from Wire Strippers to Pipe Wrenches. And a Bunch of Specialty Stuff also. Like maybe a Crown Molding Nailer. Or something like a Hot Wire Knife to cut Foam Rubber.

A multimeter is far more intimidating looking than what it is. You Tube is your friend here.

Those are handy as are the old school wiggy tester, sometimes a dmm will throw you off.

I wouldn't do that, most of ours are 277v

Nope, can't do it. I am mechanically challenged. I have a multimeter or two and have never used either one.

I got shocked by 277 once. I was working inside a 6’ control panel and the door swung back on me and there were 277v temp controls mounted in the door. All doors were supposed to have plexiglass covers but evidently the last person working in there didn’t feel like putting the safety cover back on. I wasn’t hurt but took a good jolt.

Yeah... those Non-Contact Testers are a Simple way to Check for Live Wires.

The one I have has an Mini LED Flashlight on it. Which is Extremely Handy. Because when you're using it, 90% of the time the Power is Off. So the Lights are Out.

Better yet...on a metal ladder...with power tools...in a pool...soaking wet...barefoot. (guess none of those warnings on the side of the ladder covered that)

Yes, 96 n newer. Simple to use. Not long ago even a simple scanner like this cost hundreds or thousands. You can still pay that much for the high end scanners that vacuums your carpet and walks the dog. But for weekend warriors like most of us it’s a great tool for $31.

Yeah, they're nice. I got the same and pulled a code from my 02 sube, researched online, determined that it wasn't that important and reset the check engine light and have been fine.

As I do the vast majority of wrenching on my vehicle, OBD readers are a godsend. Hell, I keep one in my glove box. Don't know how many times I've saved someone major bucks by reading a code on their vehicle, then showing them which part to replace.
