I find keeping the voltage at 4.2 to 5 max will give me the perfect vape.It works out too using ohms law.For ex:,if i wrap a coil at 1.5 ohm,i set the watts at 12/13 and it works out too 4.2.

If i do .20 wrap i can ''bump'' up the watts to 50 and it will still be about 5 volts with no burnt taste.

Ya cant break ohms law.

right now im vaping 0.19ohm at 40W, then again its a temp control build, if this was kanthal it would be so weak for me. Nickel is strange.

I just bought a TC mod last week. Haven't tried a nickel build yet, though. What kind of atty did you build on, what gauge nickel, etc?

I build a different type of coil because I couldnt get used to the flavor/vapor production of standard coil builds. I did a clapton build, 28g nickel wrapped around 24g kanthal. 5 wraps around a 1mm bit. came out to 0.19ohms. Mounted it on my Hazematic Revolt RDA on my rDNA40 Vaporshark. Best TC build I've got to work for me.

thats what I did, except i took off the other coil and just running it in single. 40w wasnt enough to heat both of em up

Thanks for that alicewonderland. Maybe working with nickel will finally force me to branch out from my standard micro coil builds. ;)

lol thats what it did for me, these are the first clapton coils I ever did. what led me to do them is that I had 28g nickel, which is very thin and very soft and was easy to wrap around. I did those clapton coils 100% by hand (no drill) while I was watchin some netflix lol, I dont know how often I will do that though, my fingers hurt so bad after

IMO it's all about how a bunch of variables work together. No single one of them defines the vape.

I used standard contact micro coils for a long time and TP mods are what got me experimenting with different coil designs again. Regulated mods make it easier to be successful too. Still have not tried anything nearly as fancy as Claptons, but now that I've actually made a few twisted wire coils I don't consider that so far fetched anymore.

Yeah, I think I'm going to start with twisted coils as well. How are they running in your TP setup? Are you liking them better than standard coils?

caferacer, I tried 28 gauge Ni with 27 gauge Kanthal in a DNA40 with TP. Resistance came in at around 0.2 ohms (higher than I thought it would) but the high mass caused noticeable heat up time so I took off a couple of wraps and it was much better. I have thinner Kanthal that I'm going to try to get past that. Having said that, once the coils got hot the vape was very tasty with a couple of my usual juices.

I think this could be good, but I need to experiment more with it both using TP and without it and this weekend might be a good time to do it. My wife goes in for minor surgery tomorrow (Friday) so I'll be staying close to home over the weekend and will have time between nursing duties :)

I only vape one thing; Reos with bottom feed RBAs. I'm pretty much a one trick pony when it comes to builds, which I've settled on after much experimentation. My standard build is dual coils, 7/8 wrap, 26g kanthal, on a 2mm mandril. It works out to between .40 to .45 ohms, depending on leg length. Wicking is either KGD cotton or rayon.
