after proteus we may have time for this search
I have seen some message on the main GG product thread about deep and shallow engravings.
IMO, all the laser engravings (from GGTS #2050 on, AFAIK) were ORIGINALLY deep, some engraving may NOW look shallow only because the owner was .... retentive about mirror polishing and literally consumed his unit.
Anyway, the pre 2012 production had no-laser engraving and of course the engravings are much more shallow; my question is: how we can classify the old style no-laser engravings? Maybe mechanical? I miss the english word for the tool used for mechanical engravings...
Aal
- What you mean for shallow? Laser but shallow?
- Serial involved? The units I have around # 5000 are NOT shallow...
OK, I have #3860 here ;-)
it is laser - too deep to be mechanical - I agree it is a little less deep than normal, but much more deeper than other units pre-2012.
Do you confirm?
Well, as far as I'm concerned, I couldn't split my GGTSs (Brass and SS with serial # >2050) in deep and shallow; most units fall between the extremes...
My feeling is the setting of the engraver machine changed a little from one batch to another, but not enough for "declaring" different versions, expecially if you compare these units to the older ones (Alu., Nickel and SS with serial # <2050), which are REALLY shallow.![]()
