Probably a dumb question that has been asked many times but I will take a chance.
I want to try to make a mod that would function similar to the Reo Grand that I am using.
Not wanting to copy the Reo. Just want to play around and see what I can come up with for a DIY project.
My biggest problem is that being so new at all of this I do not know the proper terminology or names of the components involved.

Does anyone know of plans, diagrams or anything that would enable a complete dummy to try to safely construct their own. Maybe even links to suppliers who supply parts (if I knew what they were called).

Ideally I want to make something with a wooden case.
Any help, advice or direction is greatly appreciated so thank you in advance.

I think I left things too broad with my questions.
Maybe this will narrow things down a bit.
I was hoping to attempt a mod with a wood box that will hold a bottle and battery inside.
Have a push button on top to fire. And the thing that houses the coil and drip tip on top.
Something simple without complex wiring.

A puck style mod is going to be the easiest thing to build. Try and follow the exact design of the REO if that is what you are looking to build. Just use wood. You will need at least one wire though for the ground onto the 510 connection from the negative of the battery. I would suggest building a puck style mod and then converting it to be bottom fed. Wiring is going to be easier than no wiring.

Take the REO woodvil as an example. It has wires and a tactile switch with an ON/OFF function.

What you are trying to describe I believe is a mechanical wooden box mod bottom feeder.

Materials needed for a simple build would be the 510 connector with hollow center/positive pin, a push button momentary switch, your positive and negative battery contacts, a tube, and a bottle.

Thats just the simple basics. Of course you would get to select the material for making your own enclosure and need some wire to connect the battery terminals to the switch and in turn the switch to the 510 connector.

Depending on design the tools required would vary greatly.

Keep doing a lot of research on others who have made mechanical box mods and you will be able to narrow down your design and figure out that you cant take it anymore and need to make your own!

Thats what is happening to me but now I cant find any Raptor chips in stock... GL I will see if i can find a couple of other build up threads to help get you going.

Thank You everyone so far.
What you have told me so far is giving me an idea of what I need to be reading and looking at.
I love the Reo I am using. I just want to make something customized for myself.
Cool Breeze,
I searched out some of her threads. Hers are an easy read and are becoming understandable the more I read.
Crazyarms,
Thank You for the link. I will read through the tutorial to get an understanding of how things work.
Possibly with more information I will change what I had in mind.
GreatestUnKnown,
That was exactly what I meant. Any remotely pertinent threads will help me a lot.

The more I read, the more I see that I need to learn before I am ready to safely make my own mod.
Looks like there is a little more to things than just assembling a bunch of parts.

Now, is there anyone here who can tell me how to make a car?
(just teasing)
Thanks to everyone who bit their tongue when I started asking questions before I was able to understand the answers.

If it makes you feel any better, I joined ECF for one reason... I was going to jump right in and build a DNA30 mod. I had high hopes of my knowledge and ability. I am much more humble now after all that I have read on here. :D I will actually be doing it soon, but I still don't feel that I have learned all that I need to know about it.

I failed on my first vv mod and went back to tobacco because my mech didn't give me what I wanted, a similar vape to a hookah. I'm trying again with something more professional, powerful and easier to wire. Starting with a sx350 in a hammond 1590b, what would you recommend for batteries? Twin vtc5 or other 18650's, 26650 or lipo's?
