Hi ,I am relatively new to vaping and I already want to give a try at making my own liquid.
Is there someone who would explain to me how to do it and where can I get the materialsand supplies to do so.
I am wanting to make a good menthol(6-12 mg)A regular Non menthol tobacco flavor (6mg for my 76 year old mom)and a light menthol(6mg for my girlfriend)
I figure i am going to go through about 4 30ML bottles a month and my Mom about the same and my girlfriend about 3 so i will be wanting to make about 11 or 12 bottles a month.
Thanks
Craig

Please be sure that you read the stickys on how to safely handle nicotine first. There are so many places to get your supplies to choose from.

This is a simple calculator good for single flavors eJuice Recipe Calculator

Here are a few places to get nicotine, bottles, measuring devices, flavors, PG and VG

DIY Flavors - One Stop DIY Shop Store

RTS Vapes- DIY Electronic Cigarette Supplies - Liquid Nicotine

http://www.ecigexpress.com/

For tobacco flavor check out the Chinese Tobaccos at RTS and the Flavor Express Tobacco at Ecigexpress.

All of the places that I listed carry menthol flavoring or menthol drops.

They all offer coupon codes so be sure to look for them before ordering and good luck to you.

Another thing is that since you will be making low mg juice, you will be fine starting out with 36 or 24 mg nicotine which is safer to handle for new DIYers. Nicotine in a PG base holds up better than in a VG base. Count your flavoring as PG when figuring your PG/VG % that you want.

Read as much as you can here in the DIY section. Get a good grasp of the do's & don'ts of mixing before you start. I know it's a lot of information but when it comes to mixing safely, unavoidable.
The good news is that all the info & answers are there already. :)
After reading (did I say read before? lol) as much info as you can, if you still need specific questions answered feel free to ask.

That said, here's some tips for the basics you need to start IMO.
You'll need PG, VG, Nicotine Liquid & Flavouring.
Measuring equipment - Syringes (1ml, 3ml, 10ml, 60ml) Blunt tip needles (14gauge for VG/ 18gauge for PG)
Bottles......Lots of bottles! preferably glass. Trust me buy a lil more than you think you may need. When you get rolling them bottles fill up fast lol
A good e-liquid calculator to calculate the amounts of each ingredient you need to add in a mix. Indispensable. Here's the one I use by Scubabatdan http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/scubabatdan/693-v13-ejuice-calculator-here.html
Patience

All supplies can be found online at many vape stores. (Well, maybe not the patience part lol)
PG & VG & syringes & needles can also be found at local pharmacies & tractor supply stores (if you don't see it, ask). Make sure it's USP grade! (The PG/VG not the syringes & needles :p) Food grade is a no-no.
You'll also find menthol crystals at the pharmacy with which you can make your own menthol flavouring.
Good quality nic base is essential. Read up on the forums to see which you may like best.

Those are the basic essentials. If you need specific recommendations after going thru the rest of the forums, we're here! :vapor:

EDIT: Took so long doing a million other things while posting, I see several people also answered. I heartily endorse salemgold's recommendations. (I may disagree with the PG nic base holdin up better tho cuz I likes me my VG :p But PG nic IS easier to work with since it's thinner) OneStopDIYShop & EcigExpress are 2 of my main suppliers. OSDIYS- GREAT service & selection ECX- mind boggling selection

You forgot to link the best supplier with the best price;)

Wizard Labs

John (the owner) is the absolute best!

I prefer to use RTS. 20% off your first order using code Firstorder and all orders get 6% rewards. His quality and pricing is hard to beat when you consider the discounts and rewards.

Since you are only making menthol and tobacco, you don't need a lot of fancy equipment or flavorings IMO. I use menthol drops at 1 drop per 10 ml of my base for a light menthol. You can adjust up from there. With the menthol tobacco just mix a small batch of tobacco and add menthol to taste. This will be pretty easy for you.

Hi ,Based on my estimates of using about twelve 30 ML bottles of juice a month about how much of the ingredients the PG,VG,Liqid nicotine and mentho lDrops would I need on a per month basis?
I see that Both RTS and Wizard labs offer different sizes of all the ingredients . The ingredients listed above are all I need for my purposes correct ?
Also would you have an Idea of a a rough figure what it will cost me to get started ?
Thanks

12 30ml bottles of 6mg/ml nic juice times a 3 month supply is 1080ml of diluted juice

36 bottles of 30ml of 6mg/ml needs 36X30X6 = 6480mg of nic

You can get 9000mg of Nic by buying 250ml of 36mg/ml Nic. More than enough for 3 months.

500ml of PG and 500ml of VG and 100ml of tobacco flavor will be enough.

10ml of menthol drops should be enough.

You will have left overs of some of the ingredients.

Practice with the math using a USP Pencil and Food Grade Paper first before using your credit card :)
Doesn't take long before all this makes sense.

A 100ml graduated cylinder, a 10ml cylinder, and a few 1ml syringes would be a good start on lab equipment.

I'm a DIY noob and Wizard's Labs is great for that. I just use the pre-mades as is or just simply split them noob-style.
Example: you want a 6mg vape. Wizard's Labs will sell you 30ml of 18MG (their lowest) in whatever PG/VG mix you want. Say you want 80PG/20. Buy 30ml of 18mg 80/20. Pour it into your little beaker. Then split it into 1/3--add 12 ml VG, 48ml PG and you've just made 3 30ml bottles of 6mg. No need to get high nic and use calculator if you just want a fast and easy split. If you want a 9mg just split the 18 in half.
