I saw some of those matte finish GGTS pieces and am now torn on what to do. I've got a SS GGTS and Stealth Cap coming in the mail... I really like the matte finish, even on alternating pieces... but I also like the ultra shiny look, and even alternating brass pieces! I have a feeling I'm not even close to being done collecting GG pieces...

She wants them because she has parts to assemble more. That's what she's missing. Se is going to need to change her ava, but has something brass in mind.

i use a handheld buffer and have a benchtop as well but this is a generic video on how to use one. you can use a flannel wheel and blue jewelers rouge
Hello. Ive got a couple polishing questions. I have the Cape Cod buffing cloths and the Cape cod polishing cloths. Im not sure if Im using them right. Would I use the wet polishing cloths first? THey are real wet and I tried using one, I wiped down the tank on my Ody with it, worked it really well , on the threads etc. It says not to rinse but wipe off etc. I then took one of the dry buffing cloths and gave it a really good wiping, sort of buffing , concentrating on the light scuffs. It got it really shiny, but scuffs were not really affected. I assume I cant leave the residue of the polishing rag on it because of the smell and chemicals. I rinsed the inside as much as I could , trying not to get it wet on outside.
Would the sharkhide be better? I dont really want to use a buffing wheel, would rather do it by hand. If you have any tips or if there is a video you can suggest that would be great. I dont want to really buff them and get them overly perfect. I rather like the look of clean , well cared for polished metal that shows signs of a well loved item, but shows that it has been lovingly used.
Maybe Dspin, who seems to be the "buffing master" should do a little demo someday?

3M polishing paper works great for scuffs/scratches. Then follow it up with your wet cape cod polishing cloth followed with buffing.

Too much SH makes a mess. First time with SH use it three times. polish on - off and rinse off w/dawn dish detergent, then again and then again. People use too much and make a mess usually. Also if never used before or have filthy brass you need to do it several times just because
This is what happens when you take your time - by hand - also SH needs to be stirred. Hopefully it was stirred before sending to you if you were in a co-op. Else its not right.
gonna have to get some of those 3m cloths. Just cant get the dull out of the brass. Polished four times. I love the brass, but it can be a pain. Especially the tele tubes. It gets in the threads.
Its not like this snoopy. GG has to be perfect. Those days are behind us. You had to send it back to the seller
If the Sharkhide will not make the brass shiny like new - then the co-op you bought it from did not stir the SH real well before putting into diff containers. If it was separated then its not going to work.
I use SH on all threads - wipe it off, then use dawn dish detergent and a toothbrush to remove the rest from the threads. Overly filthy threads would need it a couple times. Sharkhide is not gritty and should be consistancy of miracle whip. I have used it on an original GG brass button that was so dark and filthy it looked like it should have been tossed. Three times with SH and it looks now like Imeo just made it.
Cape Cod cloths to me are a waste of money and useless
All my polishing is done by hand w/micro fiber cloths and sharkhide, I have no buffing wheels.
I just bought a can directly from them. So you use a microfiber coth to rub on and then brush off?
I have one brass I just can't get to shine in one section.
I'll try stirring it.
I've been using Mr. Metal over here. Give it a good shake, rub it on, and polish it off. Brings the life right back to the brass. I love the stuff.

Ouch, that looks bad. Sorry buddy. I use mother's mag & aluminum polish with good success. Its like $5 at AutoZone.
