how to polish your GGTS

Guys i have a drememl, and I use a felt tip cone shaped. I used it on a button and it was nice and shiny. Are you saying that if i use it on the tubes it will look bad and I might ruin it? I am not gonna buy a wheel for this

EDIT: Wait is it enough to buy a wheel and attach it on a dremel? or a Drill? or there is a special drill for polishing with low speeds?

Dremel polishing area is small so it is hard to get a uniform finish. And like Longhaul said the speed can be an issue because of heat. Your Dremel likely doesn't have the power to spin a large wheel so you will want a drill wheel or a bench grinder wheel which is what I am guessing most would recommend.

Does the standard Drill work, i mean the one you use for piercing holes in walls

they do make polishing wheels for drills and they could have the torque but you are probably going to want some kind of stand unless you are going to put your gg in some kind of holder.

Thanks, but what about speed, im not sure of these drill speeds, are they low enough (below 3000 rpm) so they do not damage the finish?

Speed is one of the factors to consider when purchasing a drill. A drill that runs at higher speeds is more capable of cutting through material. Most low end drills run at a single constant speed, usually around 300 rpm's. Many medium to high end drills will feature a switch that allows the drill to run at either high or low speeds. Most low speed settings will run around 300 rpm's and high speed settings around 800 rpm's. Some higher end models may run as high has 1,000 rpm's. Some drills will have a variable speed trigger. These models will run from 0 to 800 rpm's based on how hard you squeeze the trigger. It is difficult to rate this feature as the sensitivity of the trigger ultimately determines the drill speed and will vary greatly from drill to drill.

Thought I would share my experience polishing with the Dremel 520 tool on a GGTS. It looks okay (still a lot of swirl marks in the right light) but I'm not fully satisfied and I think I can achieve better results using a series of buffing compounds.

I know it's not polishing, but what about sanding stuff down to make a nice matte finish. Is there anything else to it besides just getting a coarse sandpaper and sanding it? Maybe I could somehow connect a tube to a drill so I can spin the tube nice and even.

I have #414 SS GGTS and the engravings are VERY shallow so I think if I did this I would have to buy a new SS tube with deeper engravings... and maybe another collection tank + connector. Too many options! My wallet hates me
