How to properly dispose of a bad battery

What is the proper disposal method for bad batteryies? I dont feel like i should/can just put them in the garbage.

It depends on where you are. In some cities fire stations handle battery recycling. Some chains like Best buy have battery recycling at the stores. Some municipal recycling programs deal with them. I'm in the middle of nowhere, so I collect them and send them home with my daughter to recycle them.

to ecf Tony Bretzel. So glad to have you here. Just a wonderful place to be as far as I am concerned. Most hardware stores will accept and recycle used batteries. Home Depot and Lowes Home Improvement both do. Great question. Thank you for posting.

They have nasty chemicals in them. Recycle station whenever possible

Home depot has a lithium drop off by the front door

I bring mine to Home Depot.

BestBuy has a drop off in most stores right as you walk in.
