We have had a pack of dogs in the house for well over a decade. Prior to that, we had one, two. Since that the most I have had is seven (15 if you count a large puppy litter-that was crazy)
When we lost of first two boxers we had had since we were first married, we went about a year without a dog. We were in the middle of moving, had
three small kids etc. We decided it was time for another boxer. A pretty little white one, we named her Mimi. She became the matriarch of our dog bunch. Everytime we brought home a new puppy she was all smiles and she always took it upon herself to teach the new member all the rules and the ropes about living here. The dane and the brindle boxer were always good about new additions too but the brindle boxer is like the group instigator, he likes to stir the pot and enjoys getting everyone including the neighbors dogs to take part in his antics. He also actually goes and visits neighbors etc, bangs on their doors, sees if the kids will come out and play, gets their dogs all riled up, goes inside for a snack etc...depending on which neighbor it is.
Since my son took the pugs, we now just have the old brindle boxer and the two chi's. Won't get anymore dogs till we finally get this house sold and give ourselves about a year to resettle and get stuff in order. I don't think Rusty the brindle boxer will be around by then and while my daughter's chi will be okay with another dog, the little prissy chi named Trixie will be very bent out of shape. I always tease Trixie, I tell her if she doesn't behave I won't pay attention to the sky when we go on our walks and some big ol owl is gonna swoop down and take her!
