what is the gunk the manufacturers put on their attys and why? this is a question that has crossed my mind a number of times when i spend the first f minutes of my vaping on a new atomizer blowing out and burning off that crud. (btw since i bought some no nic unflavered pg/vg mix i use that for priming the new atomizer no wasted juice super cheap and eliminates any question about whether the gunk is gone or is just being covered up by my newest cocoa menthol mint cinamon concoction)
i'm making a determined effort to stock up on everything so i won't get caught short and have another analog relapse out of frustration irritation. hence i am for the first time ordering atomizers in larger qtys. the last time i tried this i had the misfortune of buying 5 that had 2 duds in the box but i didn't test them on arrival and when i did get to them later in the month and discover they were DOAs no return--and worse they were the last fresh atomizers i had and everything else tasted like #%*&!
Now i plan on testing them all on purchase but my gut feeling tells me that if i put some juice in a nice fresh atomizer and then toss it in a box for use a week, month or two months down the road it will no longer taste, function or last like a new atomizer.
i'm thinking i will test them with no nic pg vg but even then i think i will be gunking them up. I thought about cleaning them before storing but in the past almost all my cleaning efforts never seemed to bring the atomizer back to its pristine new state...
it's now that my question--"why do the manufacturers put that nasty tasting gunk on their nice new atomizers?" comes into play. It must be some sort of preservative--perhaps a machine oil type of anti-rust stuff.
does anybody know whatthaat primer is?
have you had any experience storing atomizers?
BTW If i knew which atomizers were going to work out and which manufacturers/vendors were reliable i'd just buy 10-20 of the same item and forget about the testing but i am also trying to figure out do i like LRs, de-bridged lrs, standard 510s or XL, etc etc.
also i notice that the cartomizers i just ordered also only have a DOA warranty...but seems even more foolhardy to open up a cartomizer to test it and them put it away...does anyone actually do that?
Another little thing-- i have more batteries than i need or use--for regular batteries (AA etc) i store them in the freezer but with all the electronics embedded in these i suspect that even inside a nice airproof ziplock bag that might not be the best...
My question again: how do folks who stockpile store their stuff?
