How to tell if e juice reviews are unbiased? Is the reviewer wearing a t-shirt & hat from the juice provider and mentions the name of the company 100 times in a 3 minute review?

Seriously, it's all subjective.There are general guidelines and the "top 5" thread is a great place to get a general idea of what people are buying and liking. But it all comes down to you and your taste buds bud. If you find at least 1 or 2 liquids you like - great! Stick with what you like and proceed cautiously from there with samples. (I don't understand the folks who go out any buy 30-50 samples from a half dozen vendors - all at once.) Build slowly on what you like. You will probably find that if you like several flavors and the overall vape from one vendor that it's a pretty sure bet more flavors will go the same route. Ditto if you find everything from vendor X tastes like YARK! Not much point in beating that dead horse again.

The folks I feel for are those who can't seem to find much of anything at all they like. I think that's pretty rare, but again this is all subjective.

Stick with small samples when doing your personal research. And don't forget you can always trade or sell anything you don't like in the classifieds.

I saw a guy in this forum bellyaching about the 50 juices he tried saying there wasn't a good one to be found. Today he posted another thread listing all the gear he has and how it's no good. He's been vaping for a month and a half. I think he should go back to analogs. There is just no pleasing some folks. They came out of their mother's womb bellyaching and they will go to their grave bellyaching and making everyone else around them miserable in-between.

I have noticed that also. I don't know what exactly the mystery, perfumey, florally ingredient is, and if I ever find out I will be VERY happy. Because I won't be stuck with sampler packs that have that one thing in it I just can't tolerate, I will be able to ask the vendors if they use it. FOR ME, it gives me a sore throat and tastes horrible. Luckily, I am able to give these away to a friend with no funds and so they don't get tossed out completely because it doesn't bother her.

Any idea what that elusive ingredient in some lines is? It has to be fairly well used, I have come across it a few times. No amount of letting it sit with the lid off, no amount of steeping gets rid of it. It is just a PART of it.

In my discussions about this with friends the conclusion we came to is the "floral" is coming from the alcohol used in the base liquid for flavorings. It can be a bear to get it to go away with steeping. (Shake shake shake, cap AND drip nozzle removed for a week, cap back on, shake shake shake... and repeat. For weeks.) No empirical evidence to support this, and we just stay away from certain vendors if it's found to be an issue. The biggest offender to me - actually the only one so far - has been the FlavorFull line from GoodProphets. Most notably in their tobacco flavors.

View attachment 137210I've been on a bunch of web sites and sometimes you can pic them out. But there is no guarantee. Some like amazon do pretty by showing if the actually bought the thing reviewed but even then some bogus reviews get in.

For juice Just get samples first like 18Sixfity said. The other thing is things like juice are so very subjective and everybody is different and has different tastes and need a diff hit, nicotine content etc. So buy small samples and when you find one that is for you then buy the bigger bottles and make sure you review it.
On batteries that is a bit less up to interpretation. Atty's are again a matter of what works. There is a big brain trust on here. It will take a little while to do your home work.
I made a few mistakes. Going to happen early on. But the learning curve with the help of ECF is pretty good.

The goal is to match ohms with the volts to get between 4-10 watts 6 watts is considered to be the most used from what I can tell.
If you dont' have the chart use this formula. Volts (squared) devided by ohms.
To low a wattage and you don't' get good vape. To high and you get a burn of the juice your throat and you can fry the atty. To high taxes the batty assy too. The higher the watts to the shorter the battery life.

I rarely take much credence of e-liquid reviews (tastes are subjective), and as far as hardware reviews -- I am more concerned about the technical specs and general usability instead of the reviewer's comments on how awesome the device is...

Exactly. I watched a review recently on the <insert-letter-here>Go battery: "I don't like the recessed button--too difficult to find". Well, if my criteria is "A non-recessed button gets snagged on my pocket", this 'bad review' might have been a selling point for me.

Haven't found a flavor reviewer I could relate to yet.

I've heard juice reviews that everyone agreed a certain flavor was amazing. On the vendors website, the same. I order some and I can't stand to even smell it. Five flavors that I just knew I'd like from one vendor I gave away. The worst part of juice reviews is having to listen to a 30 second intro of god awful music or other nonsense. Do these guys think they need a Tonight Show intro to a four minute review on youtube?
Besides, there's only one perfectly made juice, Ecto Plasma but Juicy Vapor likes your juicy cash so who knows if I'll reorder. I'm working on it DIY. Some people don't like Ecto so what do I know. So yeah, sample packs.

I can only share what I think since ejuice preference is so subjective really is users taste.

I just received 6 Ejuices from Pinkspot Vapors.

Shipping was fast and in addition to the juices I ordered they provided a sample of a yet to be enjoyed juice (have not tried) but it smells like a jolly rancher and is pink.

I have not tried all the new Juices yet but have loaded tobacco and also Clove into a couple of carts.

I have smoked the clove and must say it is very smooth and gives a throat hit to pin your ears back in a simple low voltage Ecig I refilled.
The flavor is very good and this juice 18mil is a prime candidate for using as a concentrate because it is a very very flavor intensive Juice.
I plan to try it in a tank system cut 50% with unflavored 18% Nicotine juice to see if I can tone it down as it was in my opinion a little overpowering.

That being said I really like it, The flavor is a 10 with no with no nasty harshness at all, the Clove flavor profile is spot on.

I think once I figure out the balance that personally suits my specific taste I will be without a doubt be ordering clove ejuice from pinkspot again as an enjoyable vape.

If they had a ham flavor lol I'd mix the two and start looking for someway to make a rye seed flavor.

I think I'd call the mix Christmas ham sandwich on rye.

I give Pinkspot clove a thumbs up on flavor .... its worth trying

I actually plan to try it with a Mocha, Chocolate and Cappuccino mixs to see how it works

20% clove 80% second choice blend
or
10% clove + 45% Mocha and + 45% English Toffee

If its still too strong for my personal taste I may blend it down as mentioned above.

I always read the comments and reviews in the juice forums here. If I see a high number of people recommending a juice or flavor, I'll be more likely to order a sample or trial size bottle. Then, should I like it myself, I'll order more in a larger bottle.

I don't know how the OP plans to test new juice flavors, but I'll throw in how I do it. I don't drip, and devoting an entire cartomizer to each flavor is just not pratical.

I've found that the ce2 or ce3 devices work best for this purpose. You only need about 1ml of juice to know if you will like it or not, and these ce3's hold just that. They can be emptied and rinsed relatively easily so that a new flavor can be tried in them. They are the same price as a cartomizer, so they are not an especially expensive item.

Remember that many of the "mixed" or organic juice flavors may need 1-2 weeks to steep to reach their optimal flavor, so don't throw what initially appears to be a fail juice out. Put it away for awhile and revisit it again. Some of my favorite juices started out that way.

Yeah the ham on rye is a joke...

I did mix the Pinkspot Vapors Clove with Georgia Peach and it taste like spiced peaches.

I have never been one to eat candy and inhaling candy does not really appeal to me on the face of it.
My personal interest are blended tobacco flavor profiles with overtones of spices along the lines of coffee etc.
I am experimenting to see what strikes a cord with my taste.

I doubt I would have enjoyed the peach without the clove mixed in.... fruit and energy drink mixes are not likely to ever become a favorite with my personal preferences
