My plating wore off (not exactly sure how), and I was seeing if anyone else had experienced this. There is a silver-colored layer exposed.

Also, when I run it without Noalox, after about a day it gets this weird bump which I'm assuming is an oxidization deposit and which causes it to fire poorly.

Has anyone else experienced either of these issues? What resistance are you running? Do you use Noalox?

Thanks ladies and gents.

I run between .5 - .9 ohms on an RM2 and Cyclone. Actually, put up the Cyclone for a little and have an Atomic dual coil running. I don't use Noalox, I use VTC5 batteries, and have had no problems at all like you are describing. Maybe someone else has experienced this.

Yep, when the GFP was initially released there were sparking issues for people running below 0.4Ω. Someone else in that category may be able to lend their input. Happy to hear you are problem free!

I'm running a .45 ohm dual coil, and just recently started using Vaseline because it was easier to get a hold of for me, and it seems to make a huge difference in the consistency of the hits I take. As for the plating, never experienced the bubble, but the silver colored layer is exposed on mine as well. Haven't really noticed a huge difference in performance though, but I might have just not noticed it declining over time either. All in all, it still works great, I'm still incredibly happy with it for now. :)

I wonder if the silver is oxidized gold or the copper underneath. Rob could probably lend some valuable input. Really confused about the bubble, and it only happens when I don't use Noalox. Are you sparking as well?

The key is to use noalox or deoxit before you start using the mod . Anyone that vapes super sub ohm is going to run into problems if there not diligent about this . If I was vaping that low of a ohm I would put some on my battery as well . Its the price one pays to be a lung burner I put noalox on my contact when I first installed them and I haven't touched the mod since that was months ago runs like a top . Then again I only run a 1 ohm coil

Yep, gotta be those 0.20's. Quite frankly, I'm not complaining; the thing is still my little powerhouse. I was more interested in the little bubble than anything else.

I have to assume the silver I'm seeing is the exposed BeCu. My problem is non-existent with frequent Noalox application. But that itchy little bubble... EXPLAIN YOURSELF, DAMMIT!!!!!!!!

The tiny spark that occurs as battery contact is made is like a tiny arc welder, with hundreds or thousands of times a day it's no wonder the metal is oxidizing, blistering and otherwise changing. Do what Rob says.

I don't think anyone vapes 1000's of times per day, and you're saying "do what Rob says" as if I don't already.

Barking a tone of condescension in Reoville will get you nowhere, but thanks for the info.

I beg your pardon, I guess it was the shout that tipped the bucket and I missed the humor.

Hundreds or thousands of battery contacts a day didn't seem to far fetched. I didn't count of course but when I am vaping and staring into space it seems the button goes down about once a second, so that's 30 times a minute. I am definitely in the hundreds a day and my bottle of juice and battery (18650) last me several days.

I've experienced both conditions with my two grands. I upgraded the contacts on the one, used it without applying any noalox or anything and noticed that the tops of my batteries were roached. They had little divots and scars in them, welded, as Lillie said. I bought some deoxit when I bought my new grand and I used the deoxit from the get go and have not had the same experience with this one. It fires nice and clean, doesn't scar my new batteries and has quite a bit less arcing. I do not apply the deoxit everyday, I apply it maybe once a week if I think about it.

That dang Rob always seems to know what he's talking about...

edit: I'm also in the .2 - .5 ohm range. A bonafide lung roastin' lava breathing REOnaugt!
