hello
i'm new to the world of vaping and also new to the forum and i want to thank everyone for the great info that i found here, its great to be here.

now i made a little experiment and the outcome was amazing here it goes.

i quit smoking 1 week a go and i was smoking 2 packs a day for 15 years.( i am the last person on earth to quit smoking because i don't have a power of will not much of it )

in my 4th day i started to use my full capacity of my lungs meaning taking deep breaths and exhale out deeply.

in my 5th day i run out of the ejuice and i felt i needed the nicotine, as soon i got home took 30 big puffs made coffee took another 30 puffs and i was myself again, ( its very surprising what the vapor can do )

on my 6th day i decided i will try 1 cigarette and see how it tastes, and ohhhhhh crap , it tasted bad, awful, it tasted like a very old sock, also my lungs started to pinch i couldn't take a big breaths and when i tried to inhale air all the way to full capacity i coughed so hard i started to sweat. i throw away the cig and started puffing strawberry flavor till i got the old sock taste out of my mouth and started to take big big breaths to get my lung capacity back.

after that little experiment all i want is to puff on my vapor, i still get the nicotine and i am myself. SO IS THIS MEAN i now and forever hate analogs ? ( cigarettes ) i am very pleased with the outcome of that and soon i be training my lungs to go back to jogging ( i used to be a cross country and track and field runner, long time ago, will start again )

Did anyone had a similar experience?

LOve the forum, love to be here, LOVE TO VAPE

P.S i still cant find a good tasting juice for myself i have few flavors but still not sure what i want:) maybe one day i find my perfect combo

You are not going to really taste your juices until you have been off the cigarettes for quite a while. For me it has been 3 months, and I am just now beginning to really taste them. At first I didn't taste them much, and most of what I did taste I did not like, but finally my taste buds are healing & I am finding that juices I didn't care for at first are now tasting good.
And yes, cigarettes taste horrible!

Yes, several have tried "one more" analog, and hated it. (not me, I can't chance just one)

(30 hits? Maybe you should look at your nic level in the juice? 30 hits would take me 2 hours. But I smoked a quarter of what you did. And whatever it takes to cure the nic fit and not smoke is GOOD!!!)

So, what you should learn from your experiment is this. In the first week or two (or a hundred), Don't get caught without juice!! Get some sample packs from the many great vendors. I have a shipment of stuff lost in the mail, so I'm going through some old samples. Some still are not my thing, but I found a few that are quite nice, now that my taste buds have morphed (for the fourth time)

And you might never find that "one" flavor. I think I have my 5 "one" flavors!!!

btw, Halo eliquid has some excellent flavors in their sample packs. And as an ecf member, which you are, you get 10% off with this code

Welcome!!! Congratulations!!! :toast:

Same here, first day of vaping I had 1 cig, second day again 1 cig, after that none. I have a bunch of cig making materials still and a half a pack sitting in my truck. I have no desire to light up a analog. Just thinking of how many bic lighters I inhaled, how many nasty Fire Safe covered smoked inhaled. It makes me never to want the crap in my lungs again.
Its been 53 days today, I will not go back. I feel better, lungs feel better, wife is happy.

Welcome and I know exactly what you mean. I was off analogs completely for 3 days and found that I can't stand the smell of them any more. My truck has an odor that I am still trying to get rid of. I had jackets that I wore the last time when I smoked. They stink too! I can't explain it but I was a 2+ PPD 35+ yr smoker and to drop the analogs as easily as I did was nothing short of a miracle for me and my family! I hope this works the same for everyone! Every day I have on this great earth that I don't smoke is a gift in and of itself! Enjoy your gifts as they come! :headbang:

Hi, welcome to ECF and congrats. After 5 posts wait 1 hr for the ECF servers to reset and request a Cdn Vendors List:

Did anyone had a similar experience?
7 months after quitting smoking had to haul/ spread over 100 wheelbarrows of topsoil uphill about 100' away. Took 6 hrs and told my wife if I was still smoking would've taken me 2 days. Also felt good enuff to go visit friends that night.
Was a relatively successful competitive swimmer back in the day. When smoking could barely swim 100 yards cuz of diminished lung capacity. Can now easily swim 5 miles in the bay. My GP who treats many Pro Atheletes at his Sports Clinic is simply amazed at how my lungs and body have bounced back...25% credit to myself and the other 75% credit to my poor old body that had been mistreated for far too long
The biggest bonus for me has been a refocusing on healthy diet and "fun" exercise....the type of activities that I do for fun with the added health benefit.

Edit: Two hours after my first vape out of curiosity I lit an analog and absolutely HATED it...tasted like dry hay and after 2 puffs I put it out- wife was absolutely flabbergasted and shocked...in a good way  This from a 1 1/2 PAD smoker that absolutely LOVED smoking. At the time I had no sense of taste or smell and smoking was the only stimulus/ enjoyment I had. Taste and smell now about 60% according to my Surgeon.

Greetings and welcome to the forum. Congrats on quitting smoking!

Now that you have 5 posts in the New Members Forum, you can check out the Canada forum, where there is a pretty good thread on people's favourite e-liquids available north of the border (some international e-liquid orders get stopped at the border, it seems to be really hit and miss).

In Toronto, there's a number of places where you can buy e-liquid in person, and all kinds of nearby online outlets.

Congrats, Raccoon! I had an almost identical experience; still had juice in the Triton but thought I'd try one more Marlboro (we were at a bar on the river and it's just what you do.) After two drags, I knew I was through. Tossed my bummed .... in the river, finished my beer and pulled out the vape. I had only been vaping for four days at that point, and I know now I'm never going back.

And ditto what DaveOno said about the Halo eJuice. I got their tobacco sampler to start off and have liked all six variations. And thanks, @DaveOno, for the coupon code. That will help immensely.

Yo, how you dooin.

Quit in Feb '13. I too took to the ecig like a fish to water. Have tried one cig and it was terrible. I still have trouble finding "that" one flavor also. Maybe my expectations are too high. Maybe I burned out my taste buids a while back. At the same time I switched to ecigs, I also stopped going to the gym as much. I recently took that back up and I'm not back up to my stamina level that I was when I stopped going, but I find it easier to get there without all of the wheazing and puffing for air. I do still hit my ecig when I leave, but if I don't, it's a passing thought and I'm on my way. Before, I couldn't wait to get out to my pack of smokes.

Welcome to a new you. good luck on your search.

Surprisingly enough, vaping has been the exact opposite for me - with lots of trouble from lots of devices, cigarettes still give me more of an organic smoke than the metallic, burnt machine oil, or burnt polyester taste that I've gotten from the majority of devices out there.

So I keep going back.

Once anyone does find the all-day device that, to them, tastes better than cigarettes (I haven't... I can honestly say all my vapes taste dirtier than cigarettes, even strawberry, fruit, or desert vapes), the urge for a cigarette can quickly die.

Our taste buds just have a unique way of realizing what's better for them, and if my vape doesn't taste cleaner or healthier than a cigarette, there's just no way I can push myself to keep vaping - especially if a taste is so bad that I do fear for health effects.

On the constant lookout for devices that really do taste clean!

Welcome to life post cigarettes! I actually went through my entire closet and washed all my clothes, after only 3 days of not smoking I realized all my clothes smelled horrible, haha. Suicide Bunny makes some great flavors, but I don't know their availability in Canuck-land. Congratz on putting down the cancer sticks!

Yes, so true! After 3 months w/o cigs, when I find myself standing next to a smoker, sometimes I get really raunched out from the smell.

Once in a blue moon, when i'm with a friend who's lighting up, i'll get a small urge to borrow a cigarette, but it just keeps getting easier and easier to knock that urge back where it came from.

GN really sorry to hear that you've had such consistently negative experiences, even after 4 years of vaping. I knew that e-cigs could replace tobacco from my very first vape, I liked it that much from the very start, and the experience continues to get better and better.

Congrats. I ran out of nicotine juice and ended up buying a pack of cigarettes :S. I have to wait a week now before my new liquid arrives.

Oh no! Hope it arrives sooner rather than later. I think I am glad I have "hoarder" tendencies. I never want to run out of ANYTHING! When I started I got quite a few bottles of juice to avoid that happening.

My hobbies are reading (always have at least 2 books waiting to read from the library), papercrafting and making cards (ditto, have stacks and stacks of pretty paper), and crocheting (have buckets of yarn waiting.)

Vaping is going to be the same. Juice is relatively cheap compared to the equipment, so I intend to stay well-stocked.

Again, hope yours arrives soon!:)

A couple of things...
As long as you are still smoking, you are not tasting anything correctly - not the vape, not the cigarette, not your food, not anything.
And I am very puzzled by your assertion that our taste buds have a unique way of knowing what is good for them. My taste buds, for instance, much prefer cocktails to fruit juice. I wish you were right, and this meant that martinis are healthier than orange juice, but I really really doubt it.
