I'm kind of disappointed, this new SS Vamo V3 is burning up my juice. I am constantly getting harsh burnt hits from the Vamo using a ProTank, or EVOD. Cartomizers are better but still doesn't taste as good as the eGo batteries I've been using. I've tried using Voltage Mode and Power Mode, LR coils, and SR coils. All I can think is it's this Pulse-width_modulation technology to simulate voltage, hitting the coils with 6.xx volts of power even through its switching on and off very quickly just causes the coils to heat up too much. And it doesn't matter if you set it to 5 watts or 10 watts it is still shooting the coil with 6~ volts every pulse.. I dunno I'm not an expert, I just know I'm not liking this.

I just got my Vamo SS V3 today with Kanger Protank II...When I first tried it,anything over 6 watts gave me a burnt dry hit...I took the head out of the Protank and removed 1 wick from inside and everything is tasting fine now even past 8 watts. If you havnt done so already try taking a wick out.If you have already removed a wick, then I'm not quite sure what to tell you.Plenty of videos on youtube on how to remove a wick if you are unsure how to do it.

I'm very touchy about burnt liquid. I don't have that with my PWM mods.
Pulsing does work. It's a matter of heating up a mass. You can apply a low level heat constantly or you can apply large amounts of heat intermittently and end up with the mass getting to the same temperature.

When I first got my V2 it was hitting heavy. I had it turned down to 3.5w-4w. I don't know if it was malfunctioning or I got used to it but I eventually moved it up to higher wattages. Later I saw a post from someone where their old V2 started acting like this so I assume there's a possibility for a malfunction along these lines at least with the V2. I also think it was a malfunction because now if I go down to 3.5w I hardly get anything.

You say it doesn't matter if it's 5w or 10w. What about lower than 5w?

V3, stacked 18350s, currently 7.9v, Power mode at 5w using a 1.5ohm Protank.. terrible bland nothing vape, like one of those gas station ciga-likes. Now I've turned it up to 9.5w which according to ohms law calculator should be about 3.8v.. but who knows what the Vamo is sending to the coil (simulated..), it's a pulse-width modulation, not a steady voltage.

I removed one wick last night. seeing how it goes, if it starts getting burny again, but I used the protank on an eGo for a long time now with all three wicks so I assumed I would do the same on the Vamo. Perhaps the higher shots of voltage is going through juice too fast for three wicks?! I dunno..

If you're talking Joyetech eGo-C battery I think they're 3.4-3.6v.

The reason I asked if you turned it lower is because of mine firing overpowered when new and the other person's firing overpowered when old.

Liquid feed rates definitely can cause flavor issues both directions. Flooded and you get nothing (turn up the power), running dry and you get burnt (turn down the power).

I highly doubt if it's PWM. But if it is I think that leaves you getting a Provari.

Just curious, but do the V3's have the same thing going on internally with the NO1 and NO2 setting (mean and RMS) as the V2's?

Deniz I'm not getting what mean with the 2 setting ? How do I check the resistance of every puff

If the Vamo v3 menu is like my v5...
  • Press and hold both small buttons simutaniously until you see "1. Power Voltage"
  • Press the right small button once to get to the second menu item "2. LCD Display"
  • Press the left small button until the display reads "Resistance"
  • Let the setting get stored into memory by doing nothing
Now, when you prss the fire button, it will display the ohms of the connected atomizer.

Greetings; In another thread about V3s, it was pretty clear that some of them still do have that setting, hold down the minus button for more than something like 10 seconds to see if yours does, Griff.J. Where the choice is available, if sounds like some people are much happier with their Vamo once they change to RMS.

Regards
Glenn

Man, I was freaking out with my V5 that I got because I was getting burnt hits all the time on my protank2 and protank1 2.7ohm. Anything above 5 to 5.5w would burn the hell out of my juice. I know it was set in RMS mode, and I did take out a flavor wick. I cleaned the hell out of the heads and did the dry burn etc etc.. However my Iclear 30 was just fine at 7.5 watts, so I was confused.

The problem for me was the juice. I go through mtbaker and went to 50/50 for the first time in my life and that was the cause of the problem. I guess it just couldn't wick fast enough with the clear menthol juices (spearmint & extreme ice) and I'm a chain vapor too. I put in my standard 65/35 today and it fires up at about 7 watts which is what it was going at on my V2 for so many months. Just a heads up if you have any issues like that.
