Hey,
I haven't heard of these horror stories What's the deal? My Atlantis' 510 sticks out pretty far, so it should make a proper connection and not short out. Or is that not the issue?
I just picked up a Stingray X with the hybrid adapter, and I was thinking it would be fine to use that tank, just like I use it on my other mechs. Obviously I won't until I'd figured this out, but now I'm curious

The issue is that the centerpin on the Atlantis is spring loaded , it can be forced up by the fire button being pushed and cause a dead short , seriously dangerous .

NO NO NO NO and NO. Sorry to sound like a douche but I don't want to see anyone getting hurt. With all these sub ohm tanks out now, we're going to have major issues in our community with people not knowing this stuff.

As a general rule, never use any atomizer that does not have a significantly protruding 510 pin. 99.9% of tanks do not have this, the 510 is flush with the connection and that is extremely dangerous when used on a hybrid mod.

That's great to know. Since I posted, I've been reading up on methods to jerry-rig this problem. Anything from drip tip o-rings around the coil, to some types of washers. Has anyone here tried these methods, or have heard whether they work well or not? I'm not on Reddit, but that is where I've heard most of these solutions. Since my Stingray X has the normal 510 connection, I'll probably just use that to be on the safe side. But I would eventually like to see what a hybrid mod vapes like

    Vape safe.
Problems arise when you take an advanced mod with no center pin, which takes a bit of knowledge to safely use, and pair it with an entry level atomizer ( disposable coils), and market this to vapers with no safety knowledge of batteries and no experience with how these devices actually work.
They slap a clearo on a SMPL to get the "hybrid look" and bam.
    Vented batteries.

I wouldn't trust any fixes , it's just not worth it . Why not buy an atty that can be used safely with a hybrid adapter , I have 3 different atty's with adjustable 510 center pins that can be used on the Stingray X safely , the Rose V2's , Aqua V2's and the Kayfun 3.1 es . I use the Roses 99.5% of the time because of their flavor and the fact that the 510 center pin can be extended quite a bit and still remain snug with a good connection to the atty , plus they look badass in all metal mode and hybridized to the Stingray X . Good clones of any of those atty's can be had for under $40 . In the case of the Kayfun it has to be a 3.1 , the Kayfun lite's 510 isn't adjustable .
