no kidding, i quit smoking. i still can't believe it...

if anyone would have told me a month or two ago, roughly when i began lurking here, that i could quit smoking, using any method at all, i would have laughed at them (AT them, not WITH them), told them what a self-righteous fu*k they were and how they could best go fu*k themself. and then i would go home and cry myself to sleep. Not really.

i started smoking at 15, pack a day by 18 give or take and am 38 presently...i've tried quitting before but my addiction is sooooo strong, given my body's apparent ability to metabolize nicotene so well. i would become dizzy and feel nauseated. even using the patch/gum/lozenge, nothing worked. it was the first thing i did when i woke, and the last thing before bed...you've heard the story.

its been 53 hours since my last cigarrette. it has been about 20 years since i have gone an entire day without a single cigarette, let alone 2 full days. i wanted to know immediately if this was going to work for me so i have put myself through every test imaginable: coffee, driving, post-meal...i even went out the first night and got hammered, and i still haven't had a cigarrette.

i'm currently using a provari mini with an unidentified tank and an unidentified dual coil 2.5 ohm cartomizer. unidentified cause i ordered the provari without considering a tank system and i needed something/anything. i wasn't going to sit there with a freakin' provari in my hand an no tank and there is thankfully a local smoke shop here with about a single square foot of its retail space dedicated to ecigs. they had one tank and one cartomizer with a 510 connection so i took it. green apple flavored juice, 18mg nic level that tastes nothing like a green apple and i don't care. i'm not smoking.

my initial thoughts:

  • i'm surprised at how good i feel. i was told that i would feel withdrawal symptoms when i quit regardless of whether my efforts were accompanied by nicotine replacement or not. i feel damn good, though i have heard its the third day when this kicks in.
  • i'm surprised by how little juice i am going through. less than 2mL/day, even out at the bar, sucking the ..... out of my provari. i find this comforting, knowing what little money i will be spending on this monthly.
  • i'm surprised at how long my mini battery is lasting. 10-12 hours

i haven't had any real problems. i've flooded my carto a few times but that seems to go away after a while. when refilling the first time i pulled the tube off the bottom cap and lost all my juice and my hands got sticky but i have a tool coming in the mail so no more sticky hands. i'm also waiting for a top sleeve from bill the greek, not only for aesthetic reasons but have since learned how important air flow is. i'd love a damn priva special tank that is not currently in stock and seemingly never will be. i had a spot of luck though today. i contacted 505vapor last night to see when the 505 tank would be in stock and recieved a response today stating an order of 21 tanks were made for a bulk order of what should have been 20, so one was made available online. got it! coming in teh mail...$25 for a glass tank/cartomizer/stainless steel caps shipping included. not a bad deal.

ONCE AGAIN, thank you to everyone involved in this community, whether we 'spoke' in threads or not. special thanks to baditude whose posts/blog i have found especially useful (and a fellow ohioan...your bengals can suck my .... though sorry) and i would advise any noobs here to seek his info. i know its only been 2 days but the impossible has been made possible and i sincerely feel good about my chances of never ever smoking another damn cigarette...cheers!

I'm 2 months into not sucking on those stinkies myself, after 56 years of a pack a day. I haven't noticed anything negative, but I'm not "allergic" to anything anymore, and I really didn't have a "sinus" problem either I guess, so all positive.
The coughing got so constant that one day, there was blood in it and I went to the drug store (after the doc's) and bought an el cheapo "blu". I had to have something until the mailman came with my newly ordered "stuff"
I thank this website and all it's participants for all the fabulous information that got me headed down the right road with a fully detailed map of instructions.
I'm sorry I didn't quit sooner because my taste buds are shot now, and I have a hard time enjoying the flavors available out there. I've bought about 50 some samplers, and so far, it's the tobacco, menthol, grape, and (hurrah) CHEESECAKE that I can taste a little. Oh, and a faint taste of "caramel popcorn", yummy
I thought the taste buds "replaced" themselves every few weeks, but I guess you have to have some to replace first!
I'm never going back .... forward, taste or no taste, and yes, I'm blowing smoke

Congratulations! Vaping's a pretty fair likeness. For me too it did the trick where no other methods of quitting had worked. Sounds like you're on the right track. Buy spares. Of everything. At least a back up battery with some sort of VV function and some backup cartos and a backup tank, if that's what you like using currently. Might try some clearomizers that are well-rated and popular, some of them are really quite satisfying, better than a carto and tank perhaps. I don't think that would have been true to say a year ago.

But buy spares of something! You will need them.
