But dear, if you take Chanti*x to stop smoking and you die or commit suicide under the influence - then you are most definitely no longer smoking!
I bet they count that as a "success".

I had to laugh about this...and here they say we germans don't know how to laugh (or joke or whatever)

lol-I backed off-I was initially maybe a bit too enthusiastic with smokers at first trying to convince them to switch because I was so enthralled with fact that something finally worked for me-then I just stopped talking so much, and just did my thing; people would comment on the nice smell and how I didn't have to freeze my .... off in the cold at work since I could stealth vape. I bought my mom a cheap kit and flings "to play around with on the side" for Christmas(had no other ideas for gifts, she's got enough stuff-figured it was worth a shot)-now she bought her best friend a similar kit-so I have them two under my wing-and mom's neighbor wants to switch. then a janitor at my work is interested now. Luckily a vape shop opened recently, and I have been giving these fine folks flyers too to check out stuff/juice flavors that I can't do on the side(got kids and other stuff taking precedence at moment-baseball season beginning-heck I have enough of a hard time finding juice I like, let alone others). I post on fb; I'm proof movement stuff mostly and info from local shop. Got a pm the other day from an old friend from long ago youth cheerleading days saying my posts about e-cigs led her to try and she gave up cigs for lent and is using e-cig now. So in my case, less is more. If people want to quit, and are seriously are interested, believe me they come around and ask lots of questions or just quietly take it in and try on their own-if they want to try, great, if not, their choice.

When I first started vaping I used to tell everybody that asked about it, Id give them all this information on all the pluses of vaping vs smoking. Even once got a girl to vape for a couple weeks. Never got anybody to quit.

Now being over a year vaping I dont even talk to people about it. Occasionally someone will make a comment or ask what it is, I tell them an electronic cigarette, and they look at me like I'm lying. Or theyll start talking about some vaporizer for another substance and I'm like good for you, dont really care about what youre talking about. Or sometimes I'll get the totally ignorant person who would get mad at me suggesting someone vape instead of smoke because smoking's 100% natural and "that thing" has all kinds of chemicals and I dont know whats in it etc. etc...

I think I just realized after a while smokers were just nodding thier heads in agreement with everything I told them about vaping vs. smoking, and could care less, they wanted to smoke, so I was just like why bother talking about it anymore. Now the conversation is usually

"hey, what is that?"

Electronic cigarette...

"Does it work?"

I quit last february, havent wanted to smoke since.

"Yeah Im quitting soon, I quit back in Y, but then I went through Z and I bought a pack" *lights up and blows smoke in my direction at which point I then make up some reason to move along*

I dont know how you guys have gotten people to quit honestly :/

If you use Facebook just post a "How I Quit Smoking Using E-Cigs" post. Worked for me.

Even though i have been at this for only about 3 weeks I am convinced that I will never smoke another cigarette. Because of this I feel very comfortable trying to spread the word about vaping and get my smoking friends to at least give it a try. So far I have "converted" two people but most of the others come back with the same few responses:

1. It looks too stupid to do in public. I generally respond by saying "So what. You don't even know the people you think are judging you".
2. Vaping has not been proven to be safer than cigarettes. To that one I say "But you know how bad cigs are for you - I don't believe vaping could be worse"
3. I like smoking and don't want to quit. Not much to say to these folks.

Anyway I'd love to hear about everyone else's experience in getting their friends and families to ditch the cigs and to find out if you have found any really persuasive arguments that have helped you get the point across.

I have 5 converts. I have given all of them an ego battery and a topper filled with a juice that they liked. Only one is still 'part time' smoking cigs.

Earlier this week made a visit to my 'part-time' vaping convert who had totally given up on vaping. She had had a shoping list of vaping issues with her ego twist and t3 tank. She had not ever cleaned or replaced the atomizer on it. So it tasted like refried cow dung and the juice was the color of chocolate syrip. She had been using the pv for approx 4 months. So I definitely understood her frustration. Got her cleaned up and happy again. Also gave her a Puritank and 5-6 atomizer heads, and the block of instruction on cleaning.
So the moral of the story is once you find a convert a 'follow-up exam' may well be in order.

I have converted 2 people had two others that started and have regressed back to smoking more and vaping less.

My wife tells me twice a week that vaping is silly...

Vaping silly? If so then smoking is just STUPID! Now that a safer alternative that has helped thousands quit is available. I would like to see a poll as to how many people across the US, UK, Canada, The EU, and Oz has quit smoking using e-cigs.
