This is such an awesome story. I just love the ECF! The encouragement, support and genuine concern in these posts give me the warm fuzzies. Congrats on your milestones! They are truly monumental.

I still get cravings here and there (been done with that stink fest for three months now) and often wonder "What would a cigarette taste like now?" Then I ask myself if I really care... The answer is always no.

I haven't tried unflavored juices, I do like flavor. But I found that having a variety of flavors and nic levels that are already set up and waiting for me really helps me through the day. I have three egos, two smoovs (cigalikes) and a bolt. I enjoy sweet and smooth (like a chocolate mint or a hazelnut) for my morning coffee, then a fruity setup for my afternoon, and then a minty/menthol mix for evenings. I keep a good charging rotation all set in the event of a zombie apocolypse. Yes, I have a "panic drawer".

I always have my "big girl" hot pink bolt with me at all times, although when I'm out shopping, driving, etc. I find that I enjoy my cig-a-like a whole heck of a lot. Sometimes the satisfaction of being able to hold a "cig" and not worry about a button is enough to get me through a bad moment!

My husband originally tried to quit while using a cig-a-like. It was fail from the get-go. An ego twist is what did it (and some fire n ice juice). He's moved up to a vmax and has built himself a whole panic desk full of mods, cartos, clearos & tanks. On the 11th, it'll be his three month anniversary! He seems super happy that he's off the cigs.

The neatest thing about the quit? We went to have some ink done last night. Normally, he's outside every 20 minutes having a smoke. This was his first smoke free appointment. He made it through the entire session without even vaping! He used the rest room (hit on his vmax a few times) then sat through my entire session too! I think it proved to him that it wasn't the nicotine he was exclusively craving... it was all the other crap that is in a cigarette! He said he wasn't even nic-fitting, just figured while he was secluded, he'd hit it a few times. That was a total "AHA" moment for him.

Joye 510? lol... you must be kidding...Thats your problem....You have been a member since 2009 and never graduated to the real world of vaping, heres your diploma.... My daily workhorse set-up---Provari VV---HH357 custom 3.0 ohm atomizer---100% VG unflavored 30mg Ultrapure e-liquid.... You will never smoke again once you get a proper rig... I use unflavored high nic juice, never get sick of it and it satisfies the nicotine fix we all crave... I have been at this for 3+ years.... Its the best... A few weeks ago while at the casino my atty died.... After a couple of hours I had to bum a real cig..... YUCK, you will never know how nasty they really are until your off em...

There might be some measure of miscommunication going on .... I think that Mike is using VV Joytech eGo-C Twists with a Vision-type clearmizer. I'd like to see him using a Vivi Nova 3.5ml version 2.5 tank/atty, because I think that if he does, he'll get just about as good a vape with that setup as if he powered that same tank/atty with any other VV power unit available, like my VMax "Version 1.0" that has been sitting unused for the better part of three or four months, while I live with a Twist/Nova slung around my neck, blissfully happy.

I like everyone to be as happy as possible, and gently ask you to consider how you feel when you appear to ridicule other people for not using a ProVari. I think that you could attain a higher level of beneficial brain chemicals if you were to forgive him for using what you thought he was using, even though he wasn't actually using that at all (although I could be wrong, in which case I ask in advance for your forgiveness).

Hey Hunter :)

I'm new here and find your story fascinating! I've got some of the same problems you do but I'm trying to work through them as best I can. I'm still reading your thread...looks like lots of great info and advice from members! Can't wait to get to the end to see how you're doing now!

I've been vaping for 5 days now...I think it's working as a great alternative to killing myself slowly (feels like rapidly these days!).

Hey Fencing Girl,
Loved your story here - and made me think how happy I am not to have gone outside for the last 5 days when it's cold and dark! My boyfriend says the vape really doesn't bother him so I've been feeding my addiction inside for once! Thank goodness too, this San Diego winter sure is a bear! LOL kidding mostly but we're really spoiled out here and having to head out in the "cold" to smoke was such a draggg!

That's my Bro! Go Bro! and Go Hunter's Friend!

In all seriousness, everyone quits in different ways and for different reasons. When I first introduced Kopfstimmen to vaping, I didn't know if he would quit or not. He didn't seem to have a desire to and I remembered what it was like to love being a smoker. So I didn't introduce it as a way to quit, but just something fun to do, that would allow him to cut back and not have to go out in the freezing cold of Germany quite so often. I didn't say, "You should quit, do this instead." That can be a turnoff to a lot of people who smoke and love it (I know I did.) But after six months, he quit on his own. You are definitely not alone. And everyone's quitting experience is different. I wish you the best and most productive path to a smoke-free life.

Hi Kiki, welcome to the forum!

Couple of things .... One, I love Kiki Dee, and as someone pointed out in one of the comments to the YouTube video linked below ... "Who the hell wouldn't?" :) Second, you can use the "multi-quote" feature to reply to a bunch of people in one post ... but then ... that would cut into your post count. hehe

I hope you enjoy the following:

Kiki Dee Band - I got the music in me 1974 - YouTube I Got the Music in Me

And I thought that beginning bass line reminded me of something ... a little something from "Sly, and the family Stone" ..... hit it!

Sly & the Family Stone - Dance to the Music - YouTube Dance to the Music (always good advice, as is "dance like no one's watching") :^)

Peace out and vape on!

i have been of smokes for over 2 years now and its was hard i had to push my self into ecig to get rid of the smokes its never easy

Hi There Bigali :)

2 years smoke free is fantastic! How do you feel now? I quit for a year and a half once but I never really felt like I'd actually kicked the addiction. Guess that's why it was so easy to go right back to it as soon as I had a good enough "excuse". I'm curious how you feel mentally and physically now that you're only vaping? Is there anything you thought would feel better by now that doesn't? Has your physical health improved enough that you think you might be ok to just vape forever (as opposed to needing to quit that too)?

Thanks!

Okay, so this has went from pleasant to freaked out in a short order.

Was working away, went to grab a drag on my eGo twist and nothing. Battery appeared to be working but I noticed immediately that I could not hear the "fizzing" sound I normally hear from the clearomizer. I adjusted the battery down, up, tapped on the side - nothing.

Found the 2nd (break glass in case of emergency backup) and screwed it on. WHEW! Worked.

But for now, I am down to one so need to get this replaced ASAP.

Isn't it a bit odd though for these to only last a couple of weeks? How many do I need to keep on hand to prevent this from happening again?

I'm not sure exactly where Branson is..are any of these close to you?

I must have 50 or so clearo's and replacement heads, so ya, 2 is pretty low. From the website you referenced, it looks like the heads are replaceable on that particular clearo, so that's all you need for now, hopefully one of the stores above is close enough, so you can run get some. Plus, it's always good to have a multimeter (radio shack has them) to test your clearos/cartos. They can last anywhere form a day to several months, with China QC, it's really a crapshoot.

I'd like to share my experience of switching to vaping..

Now to begin with I didn't smoke for all that long, maybe about 5 years total with multiple times quitting and always starting up again. I always found an excuse to smoke.. Too stressed, tired, in pain, needed a break from whatever. Well about mid-summer this year my fiance and I started talking about e-cigs and how he had tried them a few years back. I didn't really have a whole lot of faith in them because as we were having the conversation, we were both smoking and in the car driving to buy more lol..

So a couple weeks go by and we start watching our bank accounts suffer from the ridiculous price of cigs up here and decided it was time to change. We went and bought two starter kits of 901 pen styles and both of us being positive thinkers we figured we were done with analogs. Here's where the first problem cropped up. I chose liquids from the mall kiosk that were supposed to be similar to the brand of analogs I had originally smoked (a menthol blend like a Newport) and I actually did not like the flavor at all but I thought it was supposed to taste bad, it's liquid cigarettes, right? The next problem was that I would only vape at times like I would smoke.. I would walk all the way downstairs and stand outside for 5-10 minutes and vape then go back upstairs and set it aside for a couple hours until I would normally go back out for another. Note: THIS DID NOT WORK! (I did not know at the time that you could vape whenever you wanted.. No rules :p)

That afternoon I went and bought a pack of my old friends...

Count down almost 2 months later and I was still trying but still smoking (sigh...) My fiance had bought a new kit from the same kiosk, the K-go which he loved but I still wasn't feeling it.. At this point he was more or less not smoking while I still was and it was really starting to bother me.

A friend of his at work gave us a sample of a cinnamon liquid he had recently bought and when I tried it... WOW! That evil kiosk had crap for liquid... I was in a whole new world of taste! I started asking for a new kit (the kiosk had moved out of the mall and had opened their own shop and had just got the Firefly in stock.) My fiance made me a deal.. If he bought me the new kit I had to give up analogs for good. I agreed and that kit plus the bottle of Atomic Cinnacide we got from his friend was ultimately what did it for me.

Moral of the story (I'm not being a thread ninja, I promise I have a point LOL) For me it took something new and shiny (I am a girl after all) and a very powerful liquid, something strong enough to wash the nasty stinkies out of my mouth PLUS this forum right here.. I feel like I'm part of an elite group here and I totally love it... I have now been smoke free since August and while it has been a horribly difficult journey, I now sit here vaping on that same Firefly although I have several other new toys now and am here to support you in your journey.. Cheers to getting to 24 hours and wishing you the best as you work towards your 48! :D

Tracilynnie -

Great story, great post ...

Hey ... anyone ever tell you that you look just a little bit ....... ummm .... mischievous? lol

Thanks for sharing all of that, and if you need any help, maybe you could message Mike/Hunters Friend and see if he'd be willing to share with you the stuff I just told him. :) Or .... just ask away .....

For me, it just keeps coming down to what I consider to be a "universal truth" ... that with "good enough" gear and "good enough" juice and a "good enough" attitude and "enough" help from others, cigarettes will lose to vaping 100% of the time. The only thing that has to be achieved is the "enough" part.

How's this for an equation? -

Where "E" = "Enough" , and "S" = "Success":

Good gear (E) + Good juice (E) + Good attitude (E) + Outside help (E) = 100% (S)

Solve for (E) and save your own life and health. Do, or do not; there is no "try".

And you're done. (YMMV, but I can't see why).

Hunter! Some how I knew when I got to the end of this thread I would find you stating the positive 24 hours without smoking post. Who knew it would be the day I joined and started reading??? :) Good for you buddy, it's not an easy journey but it's going to be worth it for our selves AND our families!

I'm on day 5 no smokes... catch me if you can ;) LOL great now that I said that I'll probably relapse :p

I'm not sure exactly where Branson is..

Thanks LOL That gave me a great laugh for the day.

(It's the #1 tourist destination in America for families who travel by car - no joke. :D )

Thank you very much for that link. There is one in Rogers so that could be doable.

I had no idea these things were this fragile. So here would be an obvious follow up question. What is made out there that is bullet proof and works along the same lines as this eGo Twist? And by bullet proof I mean something that is reliable for 4 to 6 months out of the year or more.

Thanks, Mike

Good for you. Seriously - congrats all the way around. I am closing in on day 2 now (7 CST) so will see how irritable I am then. ;)

Overall, it has not been that bad.

Sidenote - I used to live in SD on Coronado. At the time I was irritated cause I had to travel the bridge quite a bit, looking back on it now though I think "You IDIOT! You were in SAN DIEGO!!!!"

Great place.

How big are you willing to go size wise?
Whats your price range?
Do you want a Variable voltage/wattage, or do you just want a basic battery?

Hi John,
Thanks for the welcome and the helpful hint about replying to a few people at once. Now that I've managed 5 fist posts maybe I'll try that ;)

Also, sorry I'm not a bigger Kiki Dee fan lol. I get that a lot but it's really just a nickname that stuck...It's actually kiki_damnit in general but I shorten it to D so as not to be offensive :) ha!

Now, Sly - that's something I can REALLY listen to!

It's not a problem with your Twist battery. It's the clearomizer that is fragile. They're cheap. Order a bunch of different styles to keep on hand.
Somebody will be along shortly to tell you about those "bullet-proof" $250 jobs. LOL

I mean I don't want to carry around an iron lung or anything like that. But, I bought this kit new on the 19th of Nov. probably received it on the 22nd or 23rd which means I used it all of a couple of weeks and then poof. Literally on the very day I started spazzing out about these things crapping out on me. :D

Price is really not a problem since I blew $300 a month easy on cigarettes here in Missouri.

I have just ordered 5 of them.

So $250 doesn't guarantee bullet proof? Looks like a little reengineering is in order.

Please just order all these things and this will be all behind you. (Edit - Mike, what did you just buy 5 of? Vivi Novas, I hope.)

From a previous post:

"Short answer: please get three 650mah Joyetech eGo-C Twists, two Joyetech chargers, five Vivi Nova tank/atomizers, and at least five flavors of juice.

[Also HIGHLY recommended - trim ring and lanyard. Less hassle = greater chance of success).

The Twists are about $22 each, the chargers are about $13 each, and the Vivi Novas are also about $13 each.

If you get 30ml (one ounce) of five flavors that will last you about 20-30 days. Heavy vaping is about 6-8ml a day. 12mg strength should be enough to take care of any cravings, but 18ml might be even better. Nicotine does raise your blood pressure and heart rate, so it's best IMO not to ingest any more than you currently are by smoking cigarettes, but do whatever you need to to get off of the cancer sticks, and worry about cutting down on your nic levels after you're out of the deadly clutches of the cancer sticks.

Please remember one thing; vaping is flat-out more enjoyable than ciggies. Please just start, and don't look back".

*****

The more of each you can buy, the better. That which you don't end up needing, or can do without for a while without running a serious risk of being left without a vape, the more other lives you can help by lending any extra stuff out. I'm pretty sure this makes sense.
