Again, thank you all. Your patience is very appreciated as well as your advice.

Oh and I am even going to look into hypnotherapy tomorrow as well. Here in Missouri I think they call it 2x4 over the head counseling. ;)

Now, I know I am gonna catch some flack on this, but I can tell ya when I was smoking analogs, there wasn't no amount of hypnotherapy or acupuncture that would take the place of my puffing on an analog. I'm sorry. Maybe I'm being negative. I do believe in acupuncture for my back problems and other things though. The truth is this Dude wants to puff his brains out and be satisfied. vaping is different than smoking in that I put the drip tip in my mouth and slowly inhale it in, hold it a bit then exhale. I don't do short puffs like a cig, mainly because whatever atomizer or cartomizer I am using requires more of a sucking motion to get it all in my system than a regular cig does. Sometimes I don't remove my mouth at all and exhale the vape and keep sucking. That's how I vape. Slow sucking it all in and tasting it, relishing it, then blow it out and enjoy the huge vapor. I can tell ya this, that is what got me off analogs and it takes a little adjusting to after smoking cigs for 30 plus years in my case. Also, and the most important thing to me quitting smoking, was high voltage vaping and finding a flavor I absolute love and say OMG to. I vape at 5v and it took me 2 months to find the flavor(s) to really make me feel content.

Oh, and I even paid $150 for the laser treatment that they put on your ears. You go in and they show you a 30 min video of all the chemicals they put into cigs that totally mess you up, then they lay you on a table in a private room as some guy puts this laser warm thing all over your ear lobes and face. I have to admit it did totally take away all physical withdrawal from nicotine for me. But my problem was and always has been that I enjoy smoking. I want it. I deserve it. I work hard all week and by God, I earned it! LOL. (Do I sound like an addict?) ha! So after about 5 days of not physically hurting, per say, I still stopped at stop lights in my car and talked on the phone, etc., and thought OMG, what do I do with myself now?!? I went to the grocery store that Saturday and sat in the parking lot fighting the urge to buy cigs and left the supermarket and got them! I still had the phsycological urge and I still wanted to enjoy smoking. I have to say that I was lucky though because the first time I used an 808 ecig analog look alike I thought, Wow! I might can do this. I actually would be looking forward to getting up in the morning to use it with my coffee. Now that to me was a miracle! Of course now I have a Provari and DIY and am a totally vapingaholic, but I feel great :) The truth is we are/were all Addicts! We all have our issues and we all obviously loved to smoke or we wouldn't still be vaping. It's a personal journey. Sorry, I guess this is another novel but that's how it was for me and I can tell you, no acupuncture or therapist would have worked for me.

Friend us on facebook at South Florida Vapers, please to stay updated :) We just had a huge vape meet last Sunday (31 vapers) and Bruce from Clouds of Vapor was there. I hope to meet you if I haven't already. It's hard to remember real people to these screen names in here :) hugz!

So here is the beauty of this thread - in conclusion.

I find out that I am not alone, that I am not screwed up for wanting a cigarette, that I can fall off and jump back on again, and to try numerous combinations until I hit the one that suits me. (Also, that whole PG/VG thing was interesting to learn)

For all whole chimed in and offered their best advice, I thank you. I should have my "toys" here in the next couple of days and will update my latest attempt.

In the meantime, I am going to work to setup a midwest gathering for vapers - and have tagged it as such VIP (Vapers of Indian Point) I think it will be quite interesting to bring in a lot of people, vendors, modders etc. who can speak to this and give encouragement to many who were like me.

Best thing I ever did was come here and ask for advice.

Thank you all, Mike

I LOVED smoking but like you my health was failing, so I switched to a healthier alternative- vaping.
The first week or 2 was horrible! I thought I was dying- 'cause even though I had all the nicotine I wanted I was still in withdraw- head aches chest aches body aches, etc. It was not the nicotine I was withdrawing from it was the 4,000 other chemicals in cigarettes, the benzine, and hexzene, carbonmonoxide (my spelling has got worse too...) etc. etc. etc...
I still smoke 2 cigarettes a day and vape in between, not great, but think of how many I am not smoking!
I feel so much better now, and I hope the same for you!
Stick to it!

I disagree. I think 2 cigs a day still qualifies as great.
I certainly didn't beat myself up for it when I was needing my morning cigarette.

I think that's awesome and thank you for sharing your experience with us. I give kudos to you for not giving up and trying to make things better for yourself even when it seems like it's not working. And throwing together the gathering is an incredible thing to do and will most likely be helpful to many. :) Keep us updated.

...

Trust me. Many of us here have had our Up and Downs quitting Smoking. You are not Alone.

Also, as a shorter term goal. Cutting your Cigarette Smoking in Half would be Great Also.

Quitting 100% today would be Fantastic. But cutting back wouldn't be all that Bad.

I know what you're passing right now; i'm about your age and smoked two packs a day. I really don't have a magic formula to sort it out for you but can tell you what happend to me.
I also tried quit smoking with vaping over a year ago... didn't work... was back to vaping a couple of month's later...didn't work either... thank's to the guys here in ECF i learned a lot and started to play with different set-ups (still playing) and without noting it i was vaping more then smoking and it get's better by the day.
Try to take it slow, don't force the situation and let vaping grow on you. A better gear than 501's also might help and perhaps stimulate the collector in you... if you can cut back on cigarettes money won't be a problem...
Hang in there, if you experiment with different set ups i'm sure you will find the one that suits you, and it will be just the first of many...

Hi Mike,

My boyfriend is having the same problem, just can't get over his analogs. Same thing with my friend, we'll call her Carrie. She's also has been trying sooooooo very hard to just vape and not touch the tobacco.

What you are addicted to is what's inside your Marlboro's, if you search "how an American Manufactored Cigarette is Made" on youtube you may just see why you can't kick the habbit. Maybe try to roll your own smokes first and get rid of what "Big Tobacco" has done to make you so addicted. I know if I were to pick up a Salem right now I would smoke the whole pack within a couple of hours! I LOVE MY SALEM SLIM 100'S It took me well over a month to get over my craving's but I did it and breathing freely.

Well I hope you can find your way,

Trying to quit nicotine, by using nicotine ... is pretty hard :)

You kinda gotta accept nicotine from vaping as good enough. And live with that.

Unfortunately vaping nicotine, may only serve as a constant reminder of how much easier smoking satisfies the need.

The right amount of nicotine will stop cravings ... little more than that may increase cravings.

Maybe, just stopping smoking AND nicotine is the answer for you.

For me ... vaping does keep the smoking desire alive, only if it's few cigs a day ... doesn't even have to be high strength cigs ... just quick delivery.

Maybe ... vaping and only having a few cigs is an OK option for you for a while.

For me ... to completely quit nicotine .. I would have to drop smoking and vaping the same time. Same deal if I was using NRTs. I don't think nicotine itself is the hook for me ... smoking has a big kick to it which in function is pretty much the same as having an extra strong coffee, or scotch or ... ... It's just something that changes your state .. gets you to change focus etc. ... it's that feeling ... MAYBE you just need to find something else that does that for you ..

maybe your dependent on the adrenaline kick from smoking, have exhausted adrenals. maybe a different way of pumping up the adrenaline is what's needed.

maybe switching cig brands to one with less of a kick would help a little.

You've gotten plenty of great advice,,,,,,,what I'm concerned with is that you feel like a "failure". You are NOT a failure,,,,,,,this stuff (cigs) are harder to quit than (MODERATED). You are fighting the good fight,,,,,,,every vape is a smoke not smoked. If you have to have some smokes to help out, then that's what you have to do. Eventually, you will find what works for you!

you're not a failure. Failures don't ask for advice,,,,,,,,failures don't keep trying and trying and trying,,,,,,Failures don't spend a thousand dollars TRYING to make it work,,,,,,,,

I wish you the best of luck, and I have no doubt you will succeed. Because you are NOT a failure.

Which organic menthol are you using?
or even adding a bit of menthol to your juices may help - it 'feels' like a cooler vape, gives a slight additional throat-hit (kind of like riding your bike, with your mouth open, in the wind, while chewing spearmint gum), and has a nice and distinct flavour. Before you knock it, I hated menthol cigarettes, so much so that I would forgo smoking altogether if the only available cigarette was a menthol. Now, my all day vape is an organic menthol - go figure?

Please let us know how it goes for you, Hunter, once you get your vape mail and new stuff to try. I hope you are successfully satisfied with your vaping this time around. Best of Luck and I really would like to know if you like it :)
