I am still smoking about 5- 6 cigs a day. Has anyone else done this?

I want to become a complete non smoker, and a complete vaper. I have been finding over the last two weeks I still need that darn first smoke in the morning and last one at night.

The other two to three are usually after meals. Does anyone have advice for how I can get down to NO cigs at all? To be honest, it feels like I am almost on that other side of not being a smoker. I just need to find that push that will completely take me over that mountain.

I do have higher nic cartridges that I use in the morning with my coffee. I change that up to my lower nic carts throughout the day. At night I switch it back to the higher ones, as I feel I need a bit more.

I know many people here have great pride in their e cigs and various vaping products. I am really happy keeping it super simple. I did try a few years ago with vaping. I stopped as it just became to overwhelming trying to figure out what products to use.

Thanks for reading, and any advice you may have ~ :)

Simple advice, just stay at it and try to reduce gradually. It took me many months to quit the daily habit, but finally one day I found that I wasn't smoking anymore, I liked the flavors and the tinkering that comes with owning a few different mods. Experiment often too, you will find "the one" after awhile (and then change a few more times) that will get you off the analogs. I'll still revert if I have too many drinks in a night (nothing like a good smoke with a glass of liquor), but I can always stop again the next morning.

I spent 2 months in dual use mode, during which I was vaping the majority of the time and smoking a cigarette every now and then. Usually it was 4 cigs per day.

What really got me to zero cigs was sheer will power. I smoked my last cigarette and told myself not to buy another pack. It was tough for a couple days, but I got over it.

If you need something to bridge the gap, take a look at whole tobacco alkaloid juice. Whole Tobacco Alkaloid WTA Eliquid Ejuice

Ever since I started vaping, analog cigs taste horrible. When I started vaping I was using the Blu system and it was not satisfying at all. Now I mix my own juices and vape with an ARO II tank and a Kanger 650mAh battery. My girlfriend buys cigs from time to time and I'll have one but put it out halfway through and go back to my vapes.

Just keep pursuing your preferred vape setup. It takes your mind off of analogs. Remember vaping takes a bit longer to kick in than regular smokes so take your time. Good luck! Burnt plants suck!

For me it was finding the right juice and getting a decent APV. I double dipped for one day once I got my first ego starter kit with CE4 clearomizer heads. The kit was ok, but it was the juice that did it for me. I was given a sample of 8mg Havanna Bananna by NicVape by the vendor that sold me my kit. The juice they had on the shelf was crap, but that sampler was terrific! That night I used my kit for quite a while and smoked a total of three 1/2 cigarettes as for some strange reason they didn't give me my "fix", and they tasted really bad to me. Another thing that I noticed is that it made my stomach knot up a little bit. I ended up putting all three out early.

Find the right liquid and it may help.

Most importantly IMHO is that I was ready and I got mentally prepared for it. I decided that I liked to vape and cigs didn't do what they used to do for me. That next morning I was pure vape and had to muscle through it a little as it wasn't a cake walk, but it lasted for just one day for me. I think it was more the habit than the nic fix that I had to tough out. For me it wasn't nearly as bad a using the patch or gum by a looooooong shot.

I am not sure on the days (listed below after I post this) but I really don't like cigs anymore and don't really want to be around them either after a PAD+ and 20 years.

That is how I did it, and I hope it helps in some way.

Keep with it either way and hopefully it will work out for you.

Get your post count up so that you can explore and post more in the forums. This is one GREAT support group and nobody will think negative of you because you still smoke.

Edit:
Wait a minute!? What are you vaping now? Blu's or something like that? I started with them and smoked right alongside of them. Once I got my kit it was a whole new world for me. For a newbie I'd suggest a plain old ego kit with a top coil clearomizer. The top coil units are easier to deal with for a person that doesn't like fiddling with things and if they "dry hit" the taste isn't terrible.

I'd get a Kangertech T2 clearomizer head and an ego twist or vision spinner battery for starters. The T2 is a double wick clearomizer and you can change the head out fairly easily if performance starts to drop off.

Find a vape shop and try out the liquids. Find one you like at see how that does. If you don't mind spending a little more money the iTaste vv V3 (battery) is an excellent device and something that will stick with you as you explore different avenues.

A little bit of caution is that thicker juice (high in VG (vegetable glycerin)) is a little tough on the top wicking devices. I'd stick with something 50/50 and tilt the device so that it is parallel to the ground while vaping. That way the wicks stay moist and you will avoid dry hitting it. Also it is a good idea to keep a top coil clearomizer at least half-way full for proper wicking.

Here is the kit I started with to give you an idea:
http://shop.carolinaflavor.com/900mah-ecig-double-kit/

What I stated earlier is what I would recommend for a new person as I outgrew my starter really quick.

If you do get a kit I'd recommend starting with something around 12 mg nicotine as the clearomizers kick out MUCH MORE VAPOR than run of the mill cartridges. I was PAD+ and 18 knocked me into a nic buzz like no other. I dropped down to 12 mg and then to 6mg for my daily vape. I still like the buzz so I keep some 12mg around for a little kick if I need to cut some stress.

Best of luck!

Don't be hard on yourself about smoking analogs still - it's a journey that comes in different forms for everyone. Try and gradually cut down if you think that will be easier for you. Also, I recommend finding a local vape shop so that you can try out many of the different liquids and find what works best for you. I know that there are a lot of options that are stronger in nicotine and also mimic the flavor of cigarettes/cigars, so perhaps that would be a nice bridge.

As for keeping it super simple, there are kits that come highly recommended such as the itaste vv 3.0 that come with everything you need for quite some time (save for the juice itself). If you're purchasing e-cigs that are manufactured by big tobacco, keep in mind that there is a whole other world of higher quality devices and flavors out there waiting to be explored.

In any case, you're in the right place. The vast majority of posts I see here are positive and helpful. There's a wonderful support group here and we're happy to have you!

I am in Toronto Canada. There is a local vape shop, and luckily they do have carts with nicotine.

In terms of getting technical with vaping : I plan on sticking to simple. I don't want to make things more complicated. Let me vape on my little, basic e cigs. I don't want to start mixing flavours and creating a modified battery. Power to those who find this a great way to do things. I am more of a IAD (its already done) than a DIY (do it yourself)

I have chocolate mint and a tobacco flavour. My primary goal is to save as much money as I can. I hate spending $50 a week on smoke. it doesn't feed my son or buy products that would serve my family better.

Thanks for all of your support.

I am not able to get a nicotine cart delivered to Canada from another country. I tried that a few years ago. My shipments would get caught at the border so I gave up. As soon as I heard that a legal vape shop was opening up here, I was first in line to get my free starter kit! I had to give up my last pack of smokes. I did, as at the time, I thought I was going completely smoke free.

As the nicotine product is made in Canada, it can be sold within our borders. This is a big step for vapers in the great White North!

You can do it, just remember not to be too hard on yourself. It's perfectly normal to want that cig first thing in the morning, after meals and right before bed. Those were my hardest times too, it was a PAD for me for 20 years. I started with the Blu and it did pretty much nothing for me, I could go through a five pack of carts in a day it seemed like. I screwed around with that and cigarettes both for about two months, I finally decided to buy a decent eGo style kit. I bought a Kanger EVOD for about $40 along with 5 different juices at 18mg. I started with a tobacco, a fruity and a desert type juice just to see what I liked. Once I bought a decent kit and found a juice I liked that was it, I haven't touched a cigarette since. It's been 14 months and it was the best thing I've ever done for myself, I've since lost 60 lbs and have never felt better.

Another thing that seemed to help me was an app that showed days, cigs avoided, money saved etc. You can also get a banner like you see on here. It seems like a silly thing but it really seemed to help me stay motivated.

Hang in there and best of luck!

Basic e-cigs are no big deal. You need to stick with what suits your needs.

I recommended the ego or EVOD starter kits because they create a different experience than "packing" a pack, opening them, and smoking. It is a little brain trick. Once you have a starter kit it should not be near $50/week IMO. It just depends on how much you vape. I too am like you and like to keep things simple. The stuff I mentioned is as simple as it gets as all you really have to do is fill the clearomizer when it gets low, and change the coil head which is simple as untwisting the head and putting a new one on. You could even soak you old one in the strongest alcohol you can find (vodka or corn liquor) to clean them out.

It may be a good idea to do a cost analysis to see if you could actually save money in the long run. I spent over $200 a month on cigarettes and the cost benefit was a no-brainer once I got all the basic stuff. I am very thrifty and try to catch deals on liquids and such. Too bad importing is difficult as some vendors even offer $0.99 for 15mL of liquids to clear them out.

Best of luck and stick with it no matter what you choose to do!

Wish you were stateside I'd send you some gear and liquids to try. I was fortunate enough that the vendor that sold me my kit gave my my first liquid to try and that is what did it for me! I even had the pleasure of returning the carton of cigarettes I had purchased the same time I got my kit as I didn't want them anymore (same store as vape stuff). He was stunned to say the least!

I started with the simple ecigs for over a year and they did help me cut down to about 1/2 pack a day but I never could quit then I got an Itaste SVD and now smoke only 1 or 2 cigs a day and dropping. For me the ecigs didn't have enough vapor but when I went to a VV/VW and could set it boy did it make a big difference on how much I wanted a real cig. I still prefer that tobacco taste in the morning so I went looking for a flavor that would work for me, not easy as I smoked camels and it's hard to find a juice that is close enough to fit the bill. Still haven't found the one yet and may never but I'm getting closer and the urge for a real cig is getting weaker by the day.

I would suggest that you don't throw away all your lighters and cigarettes, nor telling yourself 'that is the last cigarette I will ever smoke', these methods of denying yourself something you 'want' only serve to make cigarettes seem more precious. It is like being on a diet and doing the same with cake, the cake then becomes a fantasy thing, glorified in the mind which makes it all the more desirable.

That is how I view it anyway, and the reason why quitting smoking cold turkey didn't work for me.

Finding different flavours that work for you at different times of the day will help, such as stronger or less-sweet flavours first thing in the morning & after meals (much like technowiz said).

Good luck :)
