This is a question I asked my Dr.
I smoked as a teenager, gave it up when I turned legal age (go figure). Years later I would once in a
while pick up a pack of little cigars and that would last a month or so. When my back thing happened the neurosurgeon explained
that any smoking would make the disc degeneration worse. So I quit. By God's grace I have been 100% smoke free for almost 10
years.
The sad/stupid thing is I sill miss it. This whole chronic pain / unable to work/ fighting disability thing has got me pretty
stressed most of the time. My weight got up to 210 so I am trying to eat better and be a little more active. If I am very
active one day it hurts so bad the next I can't get out of bed.
Anyhow as you have no doubt heard personal vaporizers (electronic cigarettes) are now on the market.
You can get them with out nicotine.
Every fiber of my being desperately want to try one and see if i get the stress relief / appetite suppression and the other
"positives" I got from smoking.
I understand the FDA is down on them (mainly I suspect because they want there tax money). I understand that smokeless does not
equal harmless. The thing is nothing is harmless. All the Rx's I'm on have pages of warnings, food can kill you and driving is
more likely to kill then skydiving.
Propylene glycol ,the main ingredient in vapor fluid, is FDA approved for IV use and use in many medicines and food products.
I understand there is a lot we don't know right now. They haven't been tested and studied much in this country. But I do know
the situation I am in really sucks right now and I think the risk would be worth it.
I put a lot of stock in your medical advice. Every other Dr. I have been to lectures me on the evils of red meat, high fructose
corn syrup and wants to send me to AA if I have a drink a couple nights a week. You are not like that, therefore I value you
advice heavily.
Well I have wasted enough of your time, but I would like your honest opinion. I understand the best case scenario would be I
leave them alone. But in the best case scenario I would not have chronic pain, 5 or 6 active Rx's and I would be able to work.
Right now I am so far from the best case scenario that the light form the best case scenario won't get to me for 100 years. So
I would like your practical real world advice.
What did he say?
stay tuned
