2K2 ..Sorry to hear your dillema, but if you go to my sub forum NHALER in the supplier forums there is some intresting info on some herbal treatments that are relatively inexpensive and have showed some promise...You dont have to vape these ingredients, In fact the majority, if not all of the tests to date have been with oral administration...If you have any questions about where to find these herbs, feel free to PM me and I would be gald to point you in the right direction... It is probably lucky that you found out about this now rather than later...Good luck to you and God Bless
Drew

Katink,do you have COPD too ?
I was right on the edge of it, 2K2 (or in the beginning stages, whatever) - a series of acute bronchitis's, which are of course in fact allready leading straight to COPD, brought me to the point where I was when I found the e-cig. Was alleady on COPD-meds, so perhaps even further along then you are now. I'm completely off any meds now, and written out of the COPD-patients-files. Hope you make it to there too! :)

Sorry to hear about your condition. my mother also has it and has been smoking for over 40+ years.

I know I will take heat for this comment, because there are a lot of people on my back lately, but I feel that maybe you should try snus or a smokeless type of nicotine replacement first. if that does not work than you can always go back to vaping. I just personally would not want to take any risks of anything in my lungs having a lung condition. There are still a lot of unknowns with this. So if you could go smokeless give it a try first. just a suggestion.

regards.

I concur...I guess I'll get flack too. The reality is that if you have been assessed for COPD you probably (hopefully) got your results and diagnosis via pulmonary function tests. Compromising your airway with any irritant will hamper the plasticity of what is left of your lungs ability to exchange gases.

I found an article that may explain why COPD effects people differently and that worse stages could be averted:

Best Wishes!

I wish there could be some kind of controlled studies done because for some reason I feel as if vaping is actually helping my lungs to function better than if I had just simply stopped smoking. My lungs certainly aren't getting worse from vaping or even staying just the same. I am actually getting far less easily puffed out.

I agree surbitonPete. I had been vaping for like three month's before I found out about the COPD. Glad I went to vaping when I did becouse I really think it helped me quit in the end.I too was getting far less easily puffed out. I know my lung's had been herting for year's and when I went to vaping they STOPED ! So there has to be more to it than meet's the eye.

Sorry to hear that, man..

I'm 20 and was told that I'd develop full-blown COPD within 10yrs if I didn't stop right away (I have a mild form of asthma, & asthmatics get an earlier onset of things like this). My lung capacity feels better when I don't smoke, so switching to vaping has really been incredible for me.

There are two battles to fight in giving up smoking - physical and psychological. Physical being your nicotine intake, and psychological obv is the mental need for it. E-smoking helps with both, but heavy addicts will need to do more. A popular technique among psychologists is having patients create associations - I personally associate inhaling cigarette smoke with inhaling smoke from a house-fire. Cigs seems very dangerous to me when I think like this, and e-cigs are a welcome replacement.

Best wishes to all who are struggling with quitting. Don't let yourself enjoy cigs, even when you give in and have one. They're no fun.

My doctor told me 8 years ago that I have COPD. I had a heart attack Christmas eve 2003 and didnt go to hospital as I didnt have insurance. I eventually got insured with Kaiser and I told my doc about the attack and he ordered me to have a stress test which resulted in being told I have 66% of the heart living, the rest was dead !! He cannot understand how I didnt go to the hospital and survive. Anyhow, my lungs are now clear after smoking 60 analogues a day for years. I love vaping and I thank it for helping me kick the habit. I have only been vaping for around 2 weeks but will never go back to analogues again

Wonderful and moving stories here. DawnMarie, you need to throw every available harm reduction alternative at your habit/addiction. Look in the Alternatives section here. Try Camel snus. Try Ariva or Stonewall dissolvables. Try Toque nasal snuff from a bullet. Read and learn.

Quitting must become a game you look forward to playing each day. If it isn't, you will just feel deprived for as long as you live. Worse, you'll replapse on every quit attempt. Give yourself new surprises, new discoveries, as frequently as you need them. Order snus online from Sweden. Find a source for the delicious dissolvable tobacco pellets (Ariva, Stonewall from Star Scientific). Buy a fake cigarette and hold it between your fingers.

I have a well-chewed up fake plastic cigarette that I stuffed with polyfil (used in fish aquariums), a layer of table salt, and more polyfil. The salt air I suck in is very good for my lungs. And I like having what feels like a cigarette between my fingers, and the hand to mouth action.

You must quit inhaling tobacco smoke. That is the only mandate you have. You can use other alternatives, and step down nicotine if you need to. In my refrigerator, I have zero-nic snus. I have zero-nic nasal snuff in a bullet for easy use. I have zero-nic e-liquid for e-smoking.

Fight the good fight against the most damnable demon anyone can face .. nicotine, an addictive substance harder to kick than ....... or ....... We are addicts in every sense of the word. Know that and find a way to feed the demon without destroying your body.
