Been putting the REO, RM2, and my new battery through its paces today, planning on using it more or less exclusively for a couple days to really get a good take on it.

Really enjoying it so far, seriously contemplating stopping by Autozone and getting the goods to do the 10 amp fuse mod this weekend.

I know it's not the official reccomended battery, but I am impressed by this Panasonic NCR18650PD, at 2900 MAH, 10 amp continuous rated, something like 18 amp pulse, I threw it in this morning around 8 am fully charged, have been using it all day on a 1.2 ohm coil, and it still is metering just over 4 volts at 6 PM.

I haven't kept super good track of my juice consumption, but its gotta be almost half a bottle.

Those NCR18650PD always impress me in my other mods. I wish mine were button tops, that would be all I would use in my REO if they were. Unfortunately I got flat tops for in my other mods. I have still been getting a day out of my AW 2000mAh so I cant complain to much. :D

Ran a .7 ohm dual coil all day yesterday on the stock spring, probably vaped 5 ml of juice, from 8 am to 9 pm, and my NCR18650PD was still at 3.89 volts, astounding!

I did the 10 amp fuse mod last night, and will be running the same coil all day today and see what the volts end up at tonight.

In other news, the IGO-W4 modded to bottom feed is bloody awesome on the REO.

I temporarily set my DNA20 mods and KFL / Fogger aside for a couple days when I got the REO, just so I could use it exclusively and get familiar with its quirks and stuff.

Well I am now kinda letting them back into the rotation, and while there are aspects about them I quite enjoy, I am finding that the REO is what I am reaching for more often then not.

I can get a great vape off anything I can recoil and tweak a bit, but where the REO excels is in its simplicity, form, and function.

I don't need to carry a screw driver and a needle filler to fill, I can play with my coil all I want without a bunch of steps to disassemble and drain liquid. All parts of the REO are very obvious, and can all be quite easily fixed/replaced with very common easy to source materials, without needing major fabrication skills or tools. This is truly a mod that will last a long long long time, and in the hands of someone how likes to work on their own stuff, it will probably continue on working forever.

The only part on the REO that I see as a weak point, (and is true of most mods) is the 510 connector.

Has anyone had to replace the 510 inside the REO and been successful?

I don't think the REO Grand itself can really even be improved upon, however I think there is room for another similar mod in the REO lineup.

I would explode with joy to see some kind of "REO HYBRID", that instead of having a 510 connector, it would be milled in such a way that the "catch cup" as we know it now, would become the actual atty base, and would be milled from the same single piece of aluminum as the REO body itself, and would have a slip on atty cover just like the IGO-S / IGO-W etc.

Doing this would give you a few benefits;

The atty base could be machined any way you want, with the feed hole and pos/neg posts able to be placed anywhere, you would not be restricted to the limitations of where things are located in a 510 connector.

The weakest point, and really the only point of failure (the 510 connector) would be eliminated, and your atty would basically be as indestructible as the REO itself, this mod would truly be able to last for EVER.

I understand that a mod like this wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea, as you would no longer be able to play with all the random 510 attys out there, but for me, and probably a lot of people, an indestructible hybrid REO would be a godsend.

I would buy a hybrid REO in a heartbeat, anyone else? Thoughts?

I had/have the same train of thought. I hate taking the RM2 off and screwing it back on, and would love a built in. But your right it's not for everyone, and it doesn't offer people the ability to use any ol RBA. In my mind the less we have to worry about shotty mass produced connectors the better. I still would want to keep the ceramic deck, and the firing pin/positive post would still have to be insulated (separate from the body).

The 510 connector is press fitted in so you could replace it if you had a press. Mostly I've seen people send to Rob for a replacement.

Your idea is intriguing, how would you handle ohm testing?

Hadn't quite got around to thinking about ohm testing, that is a good point, as I usually build my coils on something that will tell me the ohms before I even mount it on the REO.

But I think it would probably be just as easy as touching the pos/neg posts with your multimeter.

Robert mentioned a while ago that building an atty into the Reo is something that he has considered.

So, here I am 4 weeks or so into my first REO Grand / RM2...

I wasn't really planning on it taking over my entire vaping experience buuuuttt....

  • I haven't refilled my Kayfun Lite in 4 weeks, and it's just now getting low. (refilled daily pre-REO)
  • I haven't had to recharge my DNA20 mods in 3 weeks (recharged daily pre-REO)
  • My Fogger has sat empty for 4 weeks.
  • The last week or so I have mostly just been carrying my REO (always had minimum of 2 mods pre-REO).

The convenience of the squonk, and the easy access to the coil, kind of just makes everything else a pain in the ... to deal with.

Which leads me to my next problem, I now have 3 bottom feeding attys, and only one REO....

For most it does not take long for it to become evident that the REO is the easiest and most reliable choice.

Your quest for "something" to put those bottom fed attys on will become clearer...........sell & buy comes to mind!

Pretty much my whole experience in a nutshell too!! A few different devices, but the same out come. I actually filled my Kayfun 3.1 last night for the first time in 3 weeks, and honestly it just doesnt taste the same.

Oh and there is a easy solution to that bottom feeding atty / REO difference........ :D:D:D
I am sure you know the answer?

Hi Jameth, I'm in much the same boat. I use my other mods for tasting/testing juices with top-fed drippers. I have around 8 genesis tanks and a Kayfun clone, and the best I ever got out of any of them was one with a small chamber, it matched the flavor and vape production of the Reo plus RM2 for all of about 3 minutes, and I never got it to perform the same again after that. I cleaned all my tanks and put them away, to give to interested new vapers who will want to try a genny. The genny tanks seem to consume more juice for the same amount of vapor production too, I don't know why that is. I think its a good learning curve to get a genny going, then when you get a Reo, you can really appreciate the consistent and endless good performance with minimium maintenance requirements. I would like to buy more Reo's, I'm thinking of getting a Woodvil this run, if I can.

ETA - the more I think about it, even if the Reo did not have bottom feed in it, it would still be my best mod :)
