Don't feel terrible. It's just one cig. Lots of non-smokers have a cig or two. Think of how many you HAVEN'T smoked.

I'll tell you a secret. I had a cig since my quit date. And I didn't start my count over. Know why?

Because I had one cig. That doesn't make me a smoker. Smokers smoke, every day, multiple times a day. I'm not a smoker. I just had a cig.

And as long as I don't become a smoker again, that's ok.

You're not a smoker. You just had a cig.

Don't beat yourself up.

There ya go.

Honestly, I think the focus on 100% cessation puts needless pressure and guilt on people. Try not to slip, but if you do, that's ok.

You haven't had a cig in a week before this. Surely this one cigarette doesn't cancel out all the progress you've made. Not even close.

You're still an ex-smoker, and you're still succeeding in quitting.

Absolutely agree! I had the occasional analog during the first week of vaping. If I had a bad craving, I just lit up. I didn't set a "quit date", I just vaped. Now it's been 5 months without an analog. Not bad for never having planned to quit.

Besides... Look how many analogs you avoided! Be patient with yourself.

As already posted, don't beat yourself up about it, it happens quite often. For most, e-cigs are not an instant cure and there is a big learning curve. Besides the nicotine, there are many other chemicals in cigarettes that your body has become addicted too (mildly) that e-cigs do not have. You've simply got to "train your brain" to accept vaping as your new way of smoking. If the urge hit you, grab your e-cig and vape to your hearts content and your body begins to realize that that is what it gets.

One week is something to be very proud of and before you know it you'll have two, then three, then a month and more. One cigarette is forgettable, just pretend it never happened. (I won't tell anyone).

We have all been there. Don't beat yourself up over it. I have been vaping for quite a while now and still have an analog from time to time. When I really, really want one, I smoke one. And I don't feel bad about it at all. Because I am choosing to do it and finally have control over it.

Keep your head up and keep on vaping. :)

It took me about a week to become a non smoker and I am excited about that fact, but more than a month in I smoked half a bowl in one of my pipes. That half a bowl did not mean that I had started smoking again. I just smoked that one time so I did not start the habit back up. Will I smoke another bowl? I might, but I hope I don't. If I do, it is no big deal unless I follow it with another bowl and then another. A habit is not defined by doing something one time. Doing it over and over is what constitutes a habit. Enjoy the ride and don't push yourself. Keep vaping and even if you have the occasional slip up, I trust that the slip ups will become further and further apart until one day you will look back and realize that it has been over a year since your last smoke.

Others said it well, you are doing great so be proud. I vaped the first 5 days and then had equipment failure. Bought one pack and smoked them all the next 3 days. By then, I had ordered another kit/extras and went back to vaping. Haven't had a real one since Jan. 11th, coming up on 7 months and I still can hardly believe I did it.

Hang in there, it does get easier. Now I cannot stand the smell of cig smoke or stale smoke on others...who would have thought?

I haven't had a ciggie in a couple or maybe three weeks now. I never had a quit date or anything like that, I only knew I wanted to start vaping and get rid of the smokes. I started vaping, and finished off the last of a pack, and haven't had enough of a desire to purchase another pack. Admitted, I will get a craving (infitesimal at best) and will just vape and it goes away.

The hardest time I had was when I was actually not getting enough nicotine in the juice I was mixing. I was craving hard, and didn't even realize it.

Thing is, *if* I ever pick up a ciggie again, well, while I just don't see it happening, if I do, it's no big deal. They taste awful anyway. If anything, it's like an appreciation lap, in the nastiness of it, the more I like my e-ciggie and it's clean vapor, and it's nice smell, and the abilities I am getting back, like tasting, smelling, breathing....

My thought is this. If your body is getting what it wants/needs then it's not going to nag your brain so much about it. So, feed it. Don't feel bad about picking up a ciggie. One day, it will taste like dried doggie poop and you will wonder what the heck the attraction was in the first place. Then, you will pick up your Blueberry cinnamon flavored waffle vape, and be very content with yourself :)
