Hello Everyone,
I've not even received my e-cig yet, which I purchased from strictlyejuice.com but I am interested in this whole mixing my own ejuice. I also ordered unflavored juice at 24mg with flavors at 0mg. I also was at walmart this morning and bought 6 of the LorAnn flavors, Orange, Lemon, Raspberry, Strawberry, Grape and Watermelon. The were in a pack of two for 2 bucks. Any way, I went and looked for VG also while I was there. I found USP Glycerin by Humco, the Active Ingredients: Glycerin 99.5%, Anhydrous.....Skin Protectant. Is this the right stuff PV wise? I didn't purchase it cause I didn't want it to be the wrong thing. I got the unflavored ejuice at 24mg because I will be cutting it...18mg to 12mg will most likely be good enough for me.

If there are any threads that can point me in the right direction I would appreciate being directed there or if you can give me a hand and spell things out for me, that would be greatly appreciated too. I've done searching but can't find exactly what I'm looking for which is how to do this, lol. Thank you everyone!

I was able to download the E-Juice Calculator that Scubabatdan posted, woo hoo....I have a mac and didn't know if I would be able to get it. Any way...I guess the only question I really need answered is about the VG...if the stuff at walmart is the stuff I need or not that I posted above. Thank you everyone.

Hi Bella,

I'm going to try mixing my own as well. I saw a video on youtube that showed someone making their own. And not only did she make it look super easy, she had a good point that she didn't have a recipe to give because she knows how she likes her juice and everyone's taste is different. I would suggest looking at some videos on there for some ideas.

I've read some posts here that say they use Humco ... although personally I wouldn't since it says "skin protectant". I am about to place an order at Lorann Oils' website. On there they sell glycerin that is used in icings and fondants so it's okay to digest. They also sell their flavorings for $1.40 a dram (I'm not sure how big a "dram" is though). But I'm buying a bunch of flavors and their glycerin. I've already placed an order elsewhere for 60mg of nic juice.

Hi poogiecat,
Thank you for the video suggestion and the heads up on the Humco...that's kinda what I thought too...maybe they have the good VG back in the RX part, I'll have to ask them back there behind the counter. Any way. Check out walmart for the Lorann flavors. I just bought 6 different flavors and they came in a two back of 1 dram each (3.7ml each) for 2 bucks. That might save you a lil extra $$$. Thank you again for your help.

The VG from Wal-mart is what I've been using. It cost about 3 dollars for the 6 oz. bottle.

It is labled as a skin protectant but rest assured you have the correct product. (clear bottle, White cap and white lable with pink and purple graphics)

I just read a couple posts by a phamacist member here who assures us this is the correct VG.

You will find this stuff on a shelf by the pharmacy.

Where Lorann flavorings you purchased in the spice isle of the grocery department? I did not see them last time I was at Wal-mart.

You are good to go as long as the bottle states that it is USP. Some people initially look for "food grade" glycerin or propylene glycol but anyone can claim their product is food grade. USP grade products are independently certified ... take a look here.

One thing you want to consider is that two of the flavorings you bought are probably oil based (Orange and Lemon) which will cause them to smoke. Water soluble flavorings and VG/PG will vaporize in the atomizer, but oils will cause a small amount of smoke. At this point nobody can really tell you if this is a problem for your lungs but you should at least be aware that you are taking a risk.

I can vouch that the watermelon makes a great Jolly Rancher Watermelon flavored juice. You might want to give propylene glycol (PG) a shot also. It is a thinner liquid and, at least to me, has less flavor to compete with your flavoring. Oh, and paper towels ... lots of paper towels.

Thank you SeriousLevity! I will get it then, just wanted to make sure it was the right stuff and it does say USP so good deal. The LorAnns was back in the craft section on all places, in my walmart...maybe that's were it will be in yours too.
VoidNIL thank you very much for pointing the orange and lemon out to me. I was reading about the oil based a lil earlier so I won't even vape those...I'll find something else to use them with I suppose. I make lip balms so I could just use those flavors in them. I really appreciate you telling me about that!

If you are going to make alot :) They buy your Glycerin or Propylene glycol here by the gallon :
The Chemistry Store.com Inc: Products & Services
Glycerin is $27.05 per gallon (128oz) vs. $3 for 6oz = $64.00 for one gallon the Walmart way.
PG is 20.58 per gallon.
Hope this helps you

Thank you Dan, that is very helpful indeed. I will deffinitly keep that in mind and bookmark it cause I'm sure I will need gallon sizes sooner than later, lol.

Gina

When I started I didnt think I would ever use a gallon, I just placed an order for 6 gallons yesterday LOL, go figure.

Here's a post about Humco Glycerin vs vegetable glycerine, http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ble-glycerin-vs-humco-glycerin-warning.htmlit This post warns that Humco makes some people's stomach feel nauseous after vaping it. There's food grade made from vegetables, coconut/palm, and used in food products, and then there's pharmaceutical grade, used more for skin, and topical products, and is made from ?

I bought mine from here: Miscellaneous Bulk Ingredients (you have to scroll down the page to see it, it's good stuff!
Here's another good one: More Than Alive - Vegetable Glycerine

Thank you MickiO. The first like about VG vs. Humco doesn't work but will do a search on it and see what I can come up with. Thank you again for your post.

Gina

Sorry bout that, I'll try it again, http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ble-glycerin-vs-humco-glycerin-warning.htmlif
If it still won't work, just type in "humco warning" in the search box and look for this thread:"Vegetable Glycerin vs HUMCO glycerin-warning!"
