Finally I get it and dang it was a rough road for a while. I was able to get my hands on a Griffin from DV. Looked great and felt great also. Now for the fun part and I do mean fun! After trying for 4 days, I was finally able to get it right and dang was it amazing! Throat hit, flavor and over all effect is amazing. I can really taste my juice like I couldn't before.
But be forewarned, a rebuildable atty is not for the faint at heart. It takes time and effort to find all the parts that you need, such as the right size screws if you happen to get a bad one. Or the right way, size and shape of the coil itself. But if you stick with it, work at it and get it right, it will amaze you.
I was able to find the right size and pitch screws after much searching, the right size o-rings, for much later I hope and enough information to help me along.
I just wonder what else is in store for me as I continue this journey.

I've been repairing and rebuilding cartos and attys since I started vaping, which hasn't been that long. I smoked my last cigarette on July 31 thank goodness. The idea of a dependable rebuild-able appealed to me right off the start. You just have to remember that it's not like taking a new cartridge and slapping it on. But when you do, the difference is amazing!

I got lucky. I got a couple DiD clones, and the first wick and coil I ever atempted was a success. For whatever reason, it worked perfectly. The second attempt worked as well. Not that I haven't had a few failures since. I certainly have. But the failures caused me to experiment, and refine my technique. There's nothing like them, once you get it. I now have boxes and boxes of CE2s, CE3s, Vision Extremes, collecting dust. The learning curve is a little steep, but it's not rocket science. It's worth the effort.

I would encourage you to try your hand at RBAs if you haven't yet. Believe me, if I can do it, anybody can. I actually think it's kinda fun (it can be a girl thing, too - it's more about the girl more than the thing :)). Like the OP stated, you do have to acquire some stuff, even if whichever RBA you're using arrives with all its bits present and in working order. In that regard, I thought I would share the "starter kit" I put together for myself: ($ amounts are rounded to the nearest .25 and do not include tax or shipping)

View attachment 146259

6 pc precision screwdriver set: $5.25 (Amazon)
Wire & mesh: $ 7.50 (OKC Vapors)
Butane: $7.75 (Amazon)
7 pc micro drill bit set $5.75 (Lowe's) (I use the 3/32 size bit to wrap and install the coil, then slide the wick into it)
Bernzomatic Micro Butane Torch: $16.50 (Lowe's)
Bic: $1.00 (it's been so long since I smoked, I had to go out and buy a Bic :))

Total: $43.75

Strictly speaking, the drill bits aren't a necessity, and depending on which RBA you try, you may not need the screwdrivers (you won't for the DiD clone) so you may be able to knock a couple dollars off of that total. And, of course, some of you may already own tools for completely non PV-related reasons. I've heard of that.

So there you have it. There are certainly other/better things to add or substitute, but these will get you started. Hope this helps in some way, and I hope you all take the plunge and give it a try. The end result is well worth the effort.
